"Very bad. i dont know where to start. A family of five , with two young granddaughters. Three of us didnt have big appetites but they refused to serve any small plates for the sunday lunch because they were not under 12 years of age, so we ordered 2 large plates, and shared it, still loads of food was left. what a waste. Food was cold, so asked for extra gravy which may have warmed it up a little, when that eventually arrived, which was about half a cupful, guess what, that was cold too. I didnt have the energy to find anyone to complain. After eating, we sat there for over 30 minutes with our leftovers before eventually having to go to the bar to ask for the dessert menu and ask for our table to be cleaned. I complained when i paid the bill, but I dont even think the guy behind the bar would have mentioned it to the manager. One of the worse Sunday lunches Ive had the displeasure in years."

Booked a table in the court yard. Very nice staff, attentive, polite. Sunday lunch Devine BUT, pizza really dry, no tomato filling, really dry, I will not be having a pizza again at the lion. I’ll try nanos in belper.

Just nipped in for a quick bite, staff were friendly and allowed us to take any seat as long as we were gone 15 minutes before the reservation on the table. The pizzas are lovely! Perfect place for a few drinks and some food! View menu

Booked a table at the lion after reading previous review and glad we did even though it as a monday evening as the place is very busy as it has a hotel attached. Staff are pleasant enough but seem to be rushed off their feet...

We chose the fish sharing platter, with side orders of salad and rustic chips. Excellent choice, so tasty. Light batter on the goujons, tasty fish cakes and prawns. Lovely fresh salad and the chips were excellent! We saw the pizzas being made to order in...

This is a nice looking contemporary pub, with a “gastro pub” type menu. The pizza was decent and the peri peri chicken burger was good. Fish cakes were mostly bread and the bouillabaisse was awful. Chicken breast stuffed with mushrooms was dry and the soup... View menu

We didn't stay thank god...... But had an xmas meal 03/12/2022. The food was just about okay but the service was absolutely diabolical. We would have had better service in a drive through restaurant. The young people that served us (especially the female) should probably think about a career change as they made it obvious that we were a burden. NOT GOOD LION HOTEL

We went with friends for Sunday lunch after a long walk and really looking forward to Sunday lunch. Staff initially very pleasant, starters good. My husband and friend had liver which turned up tepid. It was returned and obviously microwaved. The roast was ok When the plates were collected and asked how meal was , not good considering Liver not touched. After that no one came to see if we were ok or if we wanted anything else. We even had to go to the bar and ask for the bill. All the time I had to see loads of dirty glasses on the bar not washed up. You need to review your customer service

"we enjoyed another very pleasant dinner at the Dog’ in pentrich recently. it is a very civilized but relaxed escaping area, and the type of place where people are miles for, for the culinary experience traveling and with good ground. eating is good. the dining room is spacious, contemporary and beautifully furnished with a relaxed ambiente. also the adjacent bar area is very cozy and cozy. we were warmly welcomed and immediately shown on our table. the service was attentive and pleasant, without being overlaid or intrusive. our meals were very pleasant and we enjoyed the selection of things we had (start, head and dessert). However, it seemed to be some unconsistencies with a portion size. with the appetizers the leek and the potato portion was very small a piece laek about two centimeters long filled with cheese and in a sea of sauce to convey the grasp of “more”. the crispy szechuan cauliflower and aubergine, on the other hand, contained large parts of the two components of the teller. similar to the net, the green thai chicken contained three very large portions of huh in different shapes: a large chicken breast as the main component of the Thai chicken shell, accompanied by a huge serving of shredded chicken in rice, and a huge Bao beer filled with a large piece of baked chicken. while the various components were delicious, it was just chicken overload, almost like three main dishes as one, and much too much. the same applies to the puddings we have chosen. the dog inn trifle was a huge bowl with lemon-rossel sponge, with white chocolate-creuzard, and celestial gel and sorbet. the yorkshire rhubarb cheesecake, on the other hand, was a very small roll of cheesecake with a puppy game of rhubarb sorbet and a few pieces of poached rhubarb. our meals were certainly delicious, and we enjoyed them. the hanger steak was cooked nicely after a discussion about it; it was clearly stated on the menu that the hanger steak was ‘Served ‘Pink or well Done’, but we were informed that it could not be ordered well. which condition is then on the menu? the dog is worth looking. it is in the beautiful and historical village pentrich, on the b1016 between the towns ripley and alfreton in derbyshire. we're coming back."
