"Visited on a warm afternoon, having booked a table for Sunday lunch. A beautiful location charming old cider house but I'm afraid, for us, that's where the charm stopped. We went into the bar to order our Sunday lunch, where an older woman barked at my Mother that we needed to have booked to have a roast dinner we calmly explained that we had! Perhaps a smile next time! Next the roast chicken we ordered arrived in good time, thank you the very polite waiter waitress. We were both astonished to find that the small dish of vegetables offered was for us to share 4 carrot batons 2 each; 2 brocoli florets 1 each; small slices of parsnip prob 4 each; red cabbage prob desert spoon each. Needless to say we ordered another portion of veg, beware, this costs £3.50! By the time the extra veg came, my chicken was cold. Anyway, we were hungry after our walk, so ate the lot. Unfortunately this experience has tainted our experience of this lovely place would not go back eat there. 2 x roast chicken, 1 wine, 1 pint cider vegan pud (oh of course the extra portion of veg) cost just over £50. Will go back to our favourite place of The Wheatsheaf at Fromes Hill for our next Sunday lunch out."

Wow! Such a beautiful pub in an idyllic setting. My husband and I had the delicious Pate to start followed by roast beef which was second to none. I cannot recommend it highly enough. We enjoy our Sunday roasts and this is hands down the winner in our opinion. Well done and thank you to all the staff

I came here with a friend who had been here several times before. It was a sunny Sunday afternoon when we visited and we spent a happy hour in the pub's pretty garden. The pub is quaint and charming to look at. The garden was full of people enjoying the sunshine. We only had drinks here but enjoyed our visit. According to the reviews this is a safe place to eat and we might very well come back here. View menu

We went there for my wife's birthday as it had been recommended by neighbours. We finally arrived after a Post Code lottery trying to find the place so we were a little late. We ordered the drinks and were shown to our table. We could hardly read the menu due to very low lighting and a candle but we ordered and the wait was reasonable. The food had the look of home made but was enjoyable. We shared the room with some bats yes bats so be aware! If we go there again it will be in daylight.....

The bar lady (owner) I think needs a personality transplant not very welcoming a smile cost nothing most off the short menu was unavailable we were told no fish or chicken The menu needs updating and is misleading what you order is not necessarily what you get tripple cooked chips are frozen French Frys homemade short crust pie it wasn't just like a chip shop foil pie Loverly place to walk dogs nice old cider house have been going here a fare bit but no more unless just for a drink and walk dogs .And to be fare was refunded the price of the pie at £14.99

I attended a family reunion yesterday and was initially hesitant about the distance, but it was definitely worth the journey. The restaurant has been beautifully restored and is visually appealing. Despite my initial skepticism from reading previous reviews, the food turned out to be delicious. Two of us ordered the fish, which came in generous portions, while the rest of the group had roast beef, including a child's portion, and everyone was satisfied. We also ordered extra vegetables, including cauliflower cheese, which was perfect. The desserts were also very good. The staff were helpful and efficient, and we did not experience long waits for service. Overall, I highly recommend this rest... View menu

Beautiful old building in a stunning location but beyond first impressions, pretty disappointing. Drinks served by an unsmiling older woman who seems to struggle with customer service. Ordered a G&T to find they only stock Schweppes tonic- no other options at all. Young waiting staff were a pleasant contrast- friendly, helpful and eager to help. Food however was poor. Vegetarian burger resembled something out of an Iceland freezer cabinet- watery mashed potato with a few peas and carrots, coated in orange breadcrumbs. Vegan pie was like chip shop curry in a pastry case. As we were both hungry, we ate up and left without complaining. There didn’t really seem to be any point as the kitchen mus...

The restaurant has a stunning and quirky interior with lots of steps and low beams. It is not recommended for children or individuals with mobility issues, as indicated at the entrance. We had a unique experience as most of the menu items were not available, so we ended up ordering sandwiches and chips, which were tasty. It seemed like they were trying to use up their ingredients before closing for a couple of days after the New Year holiday. The food served to other tables looked delicious, and everyone appeared to be enjoying their meals. We plan to return another time as the restaurant is truly one-of-a-kind, and we want to give it another chance. I believe some negative reviews about the...

"Entering the stablishment was fine got told to sit anywhere.. after sitting for over 20 minutes in an empty restaurant, I personally had to approach the staff member to come and take my order… drinks came swiftly food not far afterwards.. the quality of food burger was just below average…. Ordered the bbq wings which are battered!. The battered wings where not fully cooked/ barely cooked then lathered (bbq sauce) and served waited awhile as we didn’t get any cutlery or napkins seeing as it was a burger… personally has to go and receive a hand fully of napkin’s from I’m assuming another member of staff…not once did anyone come and check until I acknowledged of other work suttlely that no body had one and ask how the meal went.. gave the server the food and she had left one culprit wings behind… the view to the kitchen was clear leaving the door open.. I seen sous chef and other chef brush off the stituation!. So I carried over the remaining wing still tact For them to examine… Borge the sous chef also supporting chef both of thier mouths dropped and walked away with their heads face sing down… I was greeted with either a manager/assistant or supervisor she didn’t announce who she was.. I got told the wings have been compt what more do you want…. I wish I expressed a perfectly cooked patty.. abhtger byn to fit the over cooked patty… oh yeah not to be served raw batter for the bqq wings!. Can still taste the raw flour now an hour later… if anyone wants picture or updates please message me on [hidden email]"
