"Went here for some date night drinks, and from the shabby looking staff to the miserable faced management there wasn 't much saving grace. Our drinks were sub par and took an age to arrive which I can understand given the day and time however when my partner went to ask about them there were multiple people stood at the bar chatting he was met with an 'oh yeah ' and told to sit back down. It was busy and had the feel of somewhere people go because they have just finished work and it is close. Room for improvement definitely."

Very nice place. Had drinks here inside one night and coffee/cake the morning after, sat out in the sun. Friendly and efficient service. Highly recommended.

We loved our time here. The service was fantastic and our food was divine. Lentil and spinach burger was delicious and my friends loved the prawn and chicken curry, and gourmet bangers and mash.

I had a brunch at the Loopy Shrew in their secret garden out back. The location was great, and the staff were very friendly and professional. The food was fantastic. I would definitely recommend it!

Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, attractive surroundings and a full vegetarian/vegan menu. Prices are reasonable for such a lovely place. I had spicy lentil and spinach burger with skinny fries , it was huge! Then vegan cheesecake, really nice.

The Sunday roast was very good when it arrived at the table, but it was served without any vegetables. I had to ask the waitress twice, and I ended up eating half my meal before the vegetables finally arrived, which was about ten minutes later. I was quite disappointed.

Absolute quality place. I organised the Christmas party for here. Really good menu, very good price. And they laid out all the stops, decorated table, crackers and things. Only think I could say is there was about 30 of us and only 2 people behind the bar, so was a bit of a wait. But hoping to go back at Christmas again.

We visited as a couple on Tuesday evening, having wanted to try this popular central restaurant for quite some time. The prices for the two or three-course menu were quite reasonable, and the food was traditional, delicious, and hearty. The staff were very friendly and helpful. My only criticism is that the service was a bit slow, but we will likely return.

Food and drinks were lovely, but the service was a major let down. No one was at front of house when we arrived and had to find someone to let them know we were waiting. Staff forget to provide cutlery for different dishes, rarely checked on us and avoided eye contact a lot. Very little communication and we went at 3PM so not a busy time and we stayed till 7PM.

Had seen the posts and foodie shots so had to give it a try when we visited. Nice and easy to get to and great central location. We can highly recommend the cocktails £9 and upwards) as we had a fair few really interesting and cool flavours. The food was good, well presented and good sized portions. The dessert menu on the night was a smidge uninspiring usual stuff) and a couple menu items were unavailable so we opted for dessert cocktails.

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."

"Open since 1970 and located on Mardol, one of Shrewsbury’s oldest streets @thecurryhouseshrewsbury serves locally sourced ingredients married with traditional spices and chillies from the Indian subcontinent, a match made in heaven. 5 5 Recommended Price No better way to kick off proceedings but with popadoms, chutneys and fresh onion salad. On to appetisers and there are so many tempting dishes to choose with many of these exclusive to the curry house. Our first time trying Pani Puri. A sweet and spicy hot street food snack filled with chickpeas and tamarind sat on a bed of crunchy, nutty Bombay mix. With a building but pleasant heat, definitely something everyone should try. The quality and freshness of the seafood was exceptional. Spicy king prawns were huge and cooked to perfection. Charred on the outside for flavour but juicy and meaty. Trio of King scallops were beautifully tender and of a good size with sweetness from the tamarind liquor. Lamb rogan Josh tender lamb shoulder in a medium hot ginger tomato and onion sauce. A strong take on a traditional favourite of ours. Fresh from the Tandoor a generous mix of marinaded chicken, lamb, king prawns and a chargrilled lamb chop. The Tandoori deluxe massalla sauce was the perfect blend of sweetness melting into a subtle heat which brought the dish together perfectly. The curry house takes traditional dishes and flavours from the Indian subcontinent and elevates them to a level beyond expectations. Thank you for our invite to share the exciting menu created with passion and creativity.
