"The menu decor needs modernising, very 80’s in presentation and choice. Lack of allergen information, the order at table function was woeful, and the guest wifi unconnectable! The service was friendly, yet basic, was asked to pay when the drinks arrived (and the drinks order was wrong) ahead of the food arriving. The food itself was acceptable. If you want a cheap drink bar snack in the bar garden, this is probably the place for you! Given the current covid restrictions it was disappointing that there wasn’t an obvious place to check in and be seated. Face coverings appeared to be optional for the staff. All in, some key standards not in place, maybe if we visit for a meal in the future the management will have taken note."

Wouldn't go back, even though the garden is a nice space.

nice quiet environment eating was very good and great access for disabled customers, only shocked at the lack of customers feel as I lack something, can not believe more people from the beautiful surrounding anwesen do not use this place, except the owners have upset people.

Outdoor dining was pleasant, grounds well kept. Menu a little pricey, restrictive offers in dietary needs. Disappointingly you were unable to accommodate brown bread for a sandwich.! As unable to eat white bread. So ordered chicken Caesar salad, was nice but came with “white” croutons (doh! and too much sauce. I did ask if this could be feedback.

We have dined here several times and it's the same experience every time. The food is really great, the building is beautiful but the staff don't seem to know what they're doing. It's a shame because it's quite expensive and you do get very nice meals. The management and the service staff however are quite unprofessional. With a bit of tweaking and maybe extra training this hotel could easily be a 5 star rating.

Lovely venue, grounds secluded and quiet, staff lovely and helpful. Service not helped by the app ordering. Can understand some comments on slow service and some customers aren't aware it is primarily order by phone not attended communication and attention needs improvement Reserving by phone appalling rang and was on hold for 15 minutes lost my custom that weekend Food average, at the moment, limited and appeared not much actual cuisine and scope for the chef. Haven't tried the BBQ menu Could be great. Would recommend again but hope it improves as we come out of lock down

Dining as a table of 7 Food and drinks were slow at getting out, all our food arrived at different times which means we didn’t actually eat together our sides arrived 10 minuets before mains arrived. Food was not great, Pizza was like a cold bit of cardboard and the mash potato was powdered. We also asked for a cloth to wipe the table down 3 or 4 times and never got it. The waitress’s were lovely however inexperienced. We understand delays due to table service/covid however it was not really busy so would expect our food to arrive all together. We did ask for refund on the pizza however there was real apology.

"I wondered why this restaurant described itself on the board outside as ‘fusion’, why there were so many Korean dishes on the menu and why the serving staff have heard of Asahi beer but haven’t heard of The Asahi Shimbun, a Japanese daily newspaper that is at least 50 years old. The answer is that the Akasaka website isn’t being completely honest when it describes their Northampton branch as a Japanese restaurant. They aren’t really Japanese, although some of their menu items are clearly Japanese. Don’t let that put you off, however, as they are serving excellent food and we enjoyed our meal there very much. It cost us about £70 (inc. 10% tip) for our meal for two people including a 175ml glass of Sauvignon Blanc for my lovely wife and two 330ml bottles of Asahi Dry for me. The sushi was excellent, the edamame beans were great but we didn’t feel that the Dolsot Bibimbap (a Korean dish with loads of rice, some shredded vegetables, prawns and a fried egg on top) offered very good value for money at just under sixteen pounds. We would recommend Akasaka in Northampton and would certainly go there again, but if we want a genuinely Japanese meal, prepared and served by Japanese staff, then we will be sticking to Ginza Restaurant on Wellingborough Road in Northampton. Don’t like the way that the male members of staff at Sakura on Bridge Street speak to their female colleagues, very disrespectful, so we avoid that Japanese restaurant nowadays. Great to have a choice of three Japanese restaurants in Northampton post-pandemic, and our favourite of the three is Ginza."
