"We stopped at this restaurant on our way back from a day out at the Forest of Dean a few weeks ago. We hadn't made a reservation, but since we arrived early, they were able to seat us in the restaurant area (the few tables in the small bar were already taken). The lady behind the bar, who seemed to be the landlady, was helpful but not overly friendly. The menu consisted of standard pub fare at average prices. The lasagna was interesting, as it seemed to have a layer of pesto under the cheese topping, which gave it a unique taste that may not appeal to everyone. They didn't have homemade garlic bread, just frozen pre-cut baguette slices that you could buy for £1 in the shop. However, the chips were very good. The pub itself was quite old, with charming exposed wood beams, but the decor seemed to be a bit mismatched and didn't quite fit the traditional pub atmosphere. Overall, the meal was decent but didn't exceed our expectations considering the prices. It was a case of "you get what you pay for." We probably wouldn't visit again."

Loved this place, I stayed for 3 nights on buisness. The Food on offer here is 5 star, mouth watering both in the evenings and for breakfast. Staff made me feel welcome.

The owner of this restaurant is quite rude, which is unfortunate because the food is decent. However, it doesn't compare to the Globe. The owner's behavior really takes away from the experience at this pub. View menu

at a recent visit in the forest of dean to dinner, really nice old pub exactly what we like to offer pub-grub, burger, pasta etc. the personal was really nice and accommodating. eating was plentiful large portions and quite expensive, we were not disappointed. or blow away the partitur, but if we were over again, we would stop again for lunch or dink.

the george inn is a typical country pub/restaurant in a small village called aylburton. it serves good, homemade foods, the Sunday career is particularly comprehensive and tasty. food prices are very reasonable, like drinks. the owner and the personal are very friendly and...efficient and fulfill all their needs. all in all, a place that is worth visiting, and that is a place that they often want. Whenever I am in the area, I always make sure to have a meal at this restaurant. The decor is beautiful, especially during the Christmas season. The food is consistently excellent, with the scampi and accompaniments being particularly delicious. One of my friends ordered a burger and it was also excellent. While I may not agree with some of the comments I've seen here, I understand that everyone has different tastes. I will definitely be returning next April when I am back in the area. And, I have to mention that the chips are perfectly cooked!

I stayed here for 2 nights and had two evening meals in the restaurant and well as breakfasts. All the meals were excellent ,and they bore the distinct hallmark of good, sound home cooking. Portion sizes were huge, and my appetite these days is not...large, so there was certainly no way I could eat all that I was served, either at dinner or breakfast. There was a real touch of originality to some of the menu, mixed as it was with several standard favourites, and in particular the apple crumble, with a sugary topping, was just amazing. All the food was first class, as was the service. I would highly recommend this venue.
