"... a pity about the service. The restaurant wasn 't overly busy. Plenty of available tables. We chose to sit outside and after checking we were told it was table service. Eventually someone came out after a 15-20 minute wait and took our order. Turns out there was a couple behind us who 'd been waiting for 30 minutes... When the food came we were asked if we wanted cutlery. Said no but suggested having our drinks would be nice.... ' What did you order? ' Drinks brought to us.... no sugars offered. Eating panini 's? No napkins. Think there were only 2 staff working and all seemed very chaotic. When asking for the bill, the waitress said she was going to get the card machine and we never saw her again. At the risk of running out of parking, we ended up going inside to pay rather than wait. We don 't mind doing that. What we mind is being told they 'll come to us and then not appearing. Although the food tasted nice, a lack of good customer service unfortunately overrules and therefore it 's questionable whether we 'd go back."

Thank you so much for your friendliness and kindness when we had a flat tyre. It lifted our day. We hope we can visit again to enjoy your hospitality.

Set in a lovely part of the village, with ponies roaming free outside it was such a find when we arrived. The staff were so welcoming, the food was great and service fast. Lovely place and we recommend.

We were visiting Bournemouth from Saturday 23rd March-Monday 25th March 2024 and this was the first place we stopped after our long drive from North London! I had the leek and cheese lasagna,it was delicious!

We was too late for breakfast but enjoyed a bite to eat. I had a cream tea, my daughter and husband had bacon rolls and chips. Lovely and quaint, friendly welcoming staff. Lovely little find. We would definitely recommend.

Stopped here for breakfast, my husband said it was one of the best full English ones he has ever had ! No grease just tastey well cooked food. The service was quick and efficient and they were very busy by the time we left.

As previous reviews from others, it's correct. Can't fault the food....when it eventually came, but service is very poor. Girl who took order looked like a deer in headlights, didn't seem to understand what was being said. 3 plates came out, had to send one back as incorrect changes hadn't been noted. My lunch didn't arrive at all, she hadn't written it down which is crazy as I said to her 4 meals and 4 drinks which she agreed to

On holiday in Lyndhurst just looking around Burley. Had breakfast at hotel, so just wanted cup of coffee maybe something light. Hottest day of year. Shown to inside table by young, friendly waitress, who gave us time to decide. I only wanted coffee, but wife decided on toasted teacake. Delivered promptly teacake was huge. Jam came in small sealed jar (which everyone serves nowadays) which we prefer to an open pot of jam. Wasn't homemade, but didn't claim to be. While we were there, a few customers asked if they could change tables from outside to inside, for shade nothing was too much trouble for staff. Horses came stood by window waitress was quite chatty to us explaining about life in the...

My visit was very disappointing, I agree with Richard 's recent review. This tea shop is using the reputation of Burley to get its customers through the door, but is letting itself down. Just ordered tea and cake in the afternoon. I had to ask the waitress to stop putting her fingers inside the cups and get her to wash them again, they were stained despite going through the dishwasher. Staff uniform needs to be smartened up too. Cake was mediocre and synthetic, probably not homemade . Toilets were dirty and looked as though the floor hadn 't been swept properly in quite a long time. It looks quaint from the outside, but is shabby inside. It is using poor quality crockery and tableware, and i...

"My Wife and I don't travel so well these days but decided to go a little further afield from our usual Highcliffe and Christchurch haunts we live in Mudeford. We went twice in point of fact. The first visit was the 21st June when My wife and I had a quiet Birthday celebration lunch prior to the Family celebration later in the day. It was excellent. We only had the Mains and despite it being busy and not having booked we were served promptly and cheerfully with a round of drinks. My Wife had Chicken Pie and I had Liver and Bacon. Both were excellent and my Wifes vegetables were freshly done. I don't have vegetables. We liked it so much we went back three days later to celebrate our youngest Daughters birthday and again had lunch before the Family celebration later in the day. The meal was as fabulous as three days prior. My Wife had a Chicken Roast, our Daughter had Beef Roast and I had an amazingly well filled Steak and Merlot Pie of the Week. As before the vegetables were freshly done. Unusually for us we also had puddings (Lemon Meringue, Bailey's Cheescake and Apple Tart with Custard. All were excellent. All washed down with Tea and a Latte the former being served in nicely twee Teapots. Total cost £80 for the three of us on the second visit. Worth every penny. All in all First Class and couldn't fault it. Disabled parking nicely located in the front with ample parking for those more mobile at the side and back. Just a note for History buffs. The main building was built in 1853 by John Harrison(? a Carpenter thus the name Carpenters Arms."
