"I noticed a child's plastic garage with some toy cars, and the boys in our group started playing with them. I thought it was a great idea by the pub to keep the kids entertained while we enjoyed our drinks. I tried to strike up a conversation with the bar lady, but she seemed uninterested in talking. Then, I saw what I assume was the owner of the pub come out of the kitchen and take the garage and cars away from the boys without any explanation. This was very upsetting and unacceptable. If you are going to provide toys for children, do not take them away without informing the parents. This lady's actions were awful, and if she remains the owner, we will never return to this pub and will make sure to inform others about our experience. We left our paid round and went to the Admirals Arm instead, where we were welcomed warmly, including our dogs and kids."

We stopped by for drinks and lunch and were so impressed with the friendly landlady that we returned in the evening. The restaurant offers great value, has a spacious garden with a BBQ, and is very child-friendly. Definitely a must-visit for families.

We called here one lunchtime just for coffee but would certainly return sometime soon. There was no food available but not sure if that was because it was Monday or in general. Nice location overlooking estuary with boats and pleasant interior. Very friendly lady behind...bar and customers.

I come once in the year to queenborough, as my father was from here, I came as a child, from blackburn, lancashire, to my grandmother on whiteway road, for summer holidays. I make a beelin for the old house to house, since I was never old enough to visit it again in the 70s. my favorite tip is the london pride that gets caught here. the workers always make me welcome here, I can't wait until my next visit. I know a lot of it is nostalgie, mrs. phipps shop, this is now a convenient shop, the glue factory its smell etc. I love it. and blue town. I have to bring my children down!

"Having been to the Phoenix several times and I believe, this to be my second average review of the food and service, you 'd think they would have taken heed, but clearly not. Firstly, like most top end restaurants in London, they are reserving the right to charge for no shows £20 per head). But, what they are also doing, which is very unfair, is charging you for cancellations within 24 hours of the booking at £10 per head. If one or more of our friends had fallen ill over night it 's the flu season at the moment), they would have been were forced to go for an expensive average Sunday lunch, whilst spreading their germs to the other diners. It also poses the question, what would some do if you book a table less than 24 hours like we did) and then decide to cancel? The excuse that orders for food have already been placed doesn 't really hold water. The Sunday menu forces you to order a minimum of 2 courses at £34 per head. Some of the top London restaurants are charging less for far more opulent Sunday roasts e.g. the Jugged Hare at the Barbican). The Sunday lunch served was simply very average and not value for money. Finally, why are the desserts here, always consistently so bad? I ordered a baked cheesecake and got cream squirted on a piece of cake. When I asked what I had been served, I was told it was chef 's interpretation of a cheesecake. The menu clearly stated baked cheesecake. Not even in my wildest dreams can you interpret a baked cheesecake as a piece of cake with creamed squirted on it! This was promptly returned and replaced with a vile chocolate tart, with pastry so hard I couldn 't cut into it without the fear of smashing the plate it was served on. The chocolate was over salted and the chantilly cream served with it unsweetened. Save your money, go elsewhere."
