"Price: £5.70 for Paulaner Nestled on Kennington Park Road and just a two-minute stroll from the Kennington tube station, The Old Red Lion is a traditional, unpretentious pub in Kennington. This establishment has a rich history, with a pub on this site since 1750, although the current building dates back to the 1930s. Formerly a Charringtons pub, it boasts a charming mock Tudor design and is Grade II listed. Inside, the pub features a two-bar layout that continues the Tudor theme, complete with oak beams and low doorways connecting the bars. The central servery adds to the authentic pub experience. At the back, there's a bright and airy additional seating area, along with a spacious sun trap beer garden—perfect for sunny days. Comfy chairs and sofas throughout the pub create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Part of the @portobellobrewing collection of pubs, The Old Red Lion offers a diverse selection of beers, with sixteen options available. I opted for a Paulaner, one of my personal favorites, and it certainly didn't disappoint. The food menu is filled with classic pub dishes, infused with some cosmopolitan flair. If you're visiting on a Sunday, be sure to try their notable roast dinners. I dropped by on a Saturday lunchtime just after the doors opened and had the pleasure of meeting Ralph, the pub's owner. He shared insights about the establishment and its highly popular roast dinners. Ralph also mentioned that they’re starting live music evenings, with the first performance featuring blues band JKS Blues tonight. Kennington has definitely added another gem to its lineup with The Old Red Lion. It offers a wonderfully laid-back vibe and is an excellent spot for enjoying good food and drinks. If you find yourself in SE11, make sure to pay this pub a visit. (Note: Information accurate as of my visit on 06/08/22.)"

Really gorgeous wee pub. Service was lovely and the food was great. So happy they had a case of Appassimento. And a pub quiz!

This is such a charming pub with friendly staff and fantastic music. The terrace is lovely as well! I recently held my birthday party there, and everyone had a great time.

Very nice visit. So great draught choices and I love garden at the back, it's a real find. A hidden gem so close to the Tube. The new menu is lush. Having a decent Ploughman's lunch is a treat!

One of my favorite pubs in Kennington. The place I’d always return to whenever I’m in the area. It has a vintage vibe with mismatched furniture pieces and a tiny garden at the back, plus very decent food and drinks. View menu

Worst sunday roast. The quality of food is low. We order beef sunday roast and the beef was raw. They replaced it but the quality of meet was poor. Even veggies did not taste properly. Glasses for bear were dirty. Would not recommend this pub.

We came here for Sunday lunch with the family in the summer, and the roast dinner was out of this world. However today (Feb 22) it wasn't that bad, definitely not to the taste of last time. We will be back again as we know what they can do. Maybe just a one off bad day.

Popped in for a Sunday roast and was very impressed! Staff really friendly and welcoming, and a good range of beers. Sitting by the window with the rain pouring down was cosy. I had roast pork belly which was a generous portion, tender and well seasoned. Really tasty gravy, and we were offered extra part way through demolishing our meals. A real contender for best roast locally alongside the Prince of Wales I’ll certainly be back. View menu

This is a truly amazing pub in Kennington. I recently held an event for around 50-60 people in the conservatory area garden at the back of the pub. The manager, Ralph, and his team were fantastic. They made the event go so smoothly. The drinks were great (especially the prosecco and wine, along with the wide range of beers). The space in the garden was perfect in the summer evening for drinks. I ordered lots of starters for guests. The chips, macc and cheese balls, nachos, squid and ploughman boards. All were fantastic. And the staff were just really great and friendly. Really recommend this pub!!

I headed to the bar to order a vegan chicken burger and a cheese/brisket beef burger (I opted to add bacon). When I inquired about non/alcoholic drinks, I was offered a sample of a 0.3% beer (possibly called Free Star?). We decided to order two pints as it was quite enjoyable. Without us even asking, they provided ketchup, mayo, and vegan mayo, which was a nice touch. Our food arrived in about 10-15 minutes, although it felt more like 5 because of the relaxing atmosphere. To start off, the lightly salted chips were delicious. The vegan burger was tasty, served on a grilled bun, while the brisket burger was exceptional—the brisket was topped with gravy, which really elevated the dish. Our o...
