"Here's a rarity. A friendly, local, proper bakery which is much valued by local residents and is well-known to builders, van drivers and passing trade as THE place to pick up a hot pastry and cuppa at lunchtime. Open bizarrely) from midnight to 3pm, this is a real bakery, with ovens blazing through the night as tray after tray of loaves, baguettes, rolls and pastries are produced. The staff are friendly and helpful, and there are three tables outside, so you can sit and watch the 213 buses going by, and try to make yourself heard over the constant traffic along Malden Road to and from Worcester Park. The Plough Bakery has been in business opposite the Plough pub for 35 years, sticking to what it does best. It's like Greggs, but without the corporate millstone round its neck. Everything is fresh and generous. The sausage rolls Β£1.90) are a meal in themselves, finished with a lattice-style pastry decoration, hearty and substantial. But why stop there? The coffee machine is churning out cuppas every few minutes cappuccinos are Β£1.50), and alongside the loaf selection there are apple turnovers at Β£1.20, superb cheese and onion pasties at Β£2 and lemon drizzle doughnuts at Β£1.20. In charge is a redoubtable trout who won't take any lip and gives as good as she gets, especially if you get her going about the parking outside... which is free, but is often snarled up by other local businesses. Everything is baked on site, and traditional bakeries like this deserve support."

Poor food hygiene. Not cleaned correctly and overall just poor efforts for keeping the place hygienic.

The food was unreal, I simply cannot recommend enough. The product portfolio is extensive and deserves more customers.

have to wait outside because it's so small. All of the bread is more than it should be and the service is very lacking in any politeness.

Go here quite a lot so this was not a one-off visit. It’s such a lovely local bakery, the staff are very friendly and most importantly everything there is lovely! Particularly love the bread and sausage rolls and the sweet stuff is also lovely! Would highly recommend to people in the area.

We were not disappointed. Bought a pain au raisin and a baguette. The pastry was really flavour some think even Paul Hollywood would be impressed. Our baguette had a lovely crusty finish and the bread was soft perfectly cooked. We will definately go back again as there were so many lovely things to choose from. Nice to find a traditional bakery

The bread and cakes, all baked on site, are superb, they also do sandwiches to order and a selection of hot pasties etc. Drinks of course. But the real deal breaker is, they open at 00:30, so after binge watching whatever, you can go and buy bread for the next day. Fresh out of the oven. Just come back from a trip to Iceland and couldn't bear getting up early, so swung on by at 00:30, to pick up my usual Saturday order. View menu

This place is a real hidden gem. Open from midnight till 3pm most days, you can see half the local police force here most evenings. Really good quality rolls, bread, cakes and pastries. Great selection, a favourite being chocolate brownie and custard...which is Β£3.50...and would cost double that in a pub as a desert. The bakery serves many local cafes, which is no shock, as the food is really good quality. They also make filled rolls to order. The owner, is a really nice bloke, who has time for a chat with everyone, despite being rushed off his feet. A place worth supporting

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Plough Bakery, and I can confidently say it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The service was exceptional, making me feel welcomed and valued from the moment I walked in. The staff was not only friendly and attentive but also highly knowledgeable about their offerings, providing excellent recommendations that catered to my taste. As for the food, it was simply divine. The pastries were fresh, flaky, and bursting with flavor. The selection was impressive, ranging from classic croissants and muffins to unique, artisan creations that showcased the bakers' creativity and skill. I particularly enjoyed the Carrot cake, which was a perfe...

"Obon: a petit Japanese udon restaurant that supplies a sense of Japan that cannot be found anywhere else in the whole of the Uk. (5 stars) Location: Obon is located close to the heart of Kingston but the road it’s on is considerably quieter. You must make sure to have a basic knowledge of Kingston in order to find an area to park and to also make sure you leave yourself enough time, taking the unpredictability of the traffic into acount. Even on a week day there can be traffic jams which can put a halt to your plans and due to the small amount of customers Obon can take its important that you not only book but make sure that you arrive at the agreed booking time. With this being said the staff are all lovely so if you are running late, a quick call is all that is required to just give Obon a chance to understand your position. The food: The array of exquisitely prepared sashimi will be sure to create the sensation that you are in a top Japanese restaurant in japan and the flavour of the fish does not fail to match expectations, which will be very high after just one glance at your meal. The fish is delicately seasoned and practically melts on your tongue, this causes a lovely sensation and is genuinely the finest sushi I have tasted in the uk and even matches a lot of the top restaurants in japan. On top of just the traditional types of sushi, which to many is maki rolls Obon also offers many other delicious options such as soft shell crab and even Unagi don, which I must highly recommend due to it consistently being the highlight of my meal. For those of you that were interested in the quality of the basic Japanese dishes such as miso soup or edamame they do not fail to leave you in grand anticipation for what is to come for they are, simply speaking, incredibly good. The miso, in my opinion, is truly remarkable and creates a lasting feeling of warmth throughout your entire body, on top of that it is far superior to other miso’s that I have tasted in all other areas of the world. Overall the quality of the food is something you would expect from a world famous Michelin star restaurant and if you want Japanese food it’s the only place I can recommend. The Restaurant: The restaurant itself is small but authentic in nature and because it only has a enough tables to host around 20 people at the most, the service is exceptionally good and your food is always out quickly so you will not be left hungry for very long. The staff are kind and friendly. And it’s always an enjoyable experience being waves goodbye as you leave the restaurant. You’re also able to watch as they prepare the food, which for some could be entertaining. There are Japanese photos scattered around the room and this further creates an authentic feel. The atmosphere is not lively but it is a restaurant and not a bar so is an ideal location if you are wanting high quality food. With this being said it is still a great place to go with friends and I consistently am able to have a great time no matter the occasion. Price: Obviously, the price of the food is always an important topic to come to and despite the cost of the sushi being slightly higher than you may expect from a small restaurant in Kingston, I would have to say that for the quality of the food it is ultimately a bargain. For three people, you would be spending around Β£100 so it isn’t cheap but you can go for cheaper types of food such as udon, which is still amazing quality and won’t set you back as much money. Overall: Obon is still my favourite restaurant in the whole of the Uk and is perfect for a special occasion but it isn’t the sort of place you’d go for a casual night out. The food is beyond incredible and thus they can cater for both children and adults by meeting every bodies needs. For anybody that enjoys sushi, I would urge you to give it a go, you won’t regret it"
