"It was my birthday and I made a reservation through the Fork App for me, my husband, daughter, mother-in-law, and father-in-law. When we arrived, the host couldn't find my reservation and immediately assumed I had booked the wrong place without asking any questions. I provided proof of my booking, but was told they had been experiencing issues with bookings through the Fork App. Despite this, we were eventually seated without a warm welcome or apology for the confusion. The waitress seemed lacking in confidence and simply asked if we wanted to order without greeting us properly. The service was slow for both food and drinks. Although the food was delicious, the overall experience was greatly impacted by the poor service."

Very nice surroundings and excellent staff. The food was beautifully presented however the volume of vegetables was disappointing.

really nice pub setting. the personal was very attentive and pleasant. very accommodating when food has been requested to be amended. the food was not the best, if I returned, it would be easy for drinks

The pub atmosphere was very enjoyable. The waitstaff was attentive and friendly, willing to accommodate changes to orders. However, the food was not the most impressive. If I were to come back, it would be for drinks rather than the food. View menu

Seated by the log fire, service can be slow particularly when ordering and receiving drinks. We’ve eaten twice within 7 days and noticed food portions can vary, selected green beans with toasted walnuts and received a dish of mixed green vegetables. The mushy peas served with the fish chips looked like like green water and were stone cold, asked the server to change, she brought similar back.

high-time jubilee and personal were very helpful and even offered to make photos for us. the food was well cooked and beautifully presented. it is quite expensive, but of high quality. a little disappointed to be offered sitting opportunities near the kitchen entrance and the bar area, but the restaurant seemed very busy and we did not want to create a fuss for free. this is the only reason why I didn't award a 5-star rating.

"This was our first visit. I have to remind myself that this is a training environment for students but there should be someone in charge, who is identifiable to direct the students on how to present a menu and how to place a dish in front of customers. However, four courses for £35, amuse bouche counted for one course. Amouse bouche lacked any seasoning, orzo starter, well cooked but again lacked seasoning. My wife had fish, Coley, which was nice. I had chicken breast on a bed of curry sauce with hassleback potatoes. My whole dish was luke warm at best, the curry sauce was overpowering, and the hassleback potatoes were not crispy. The chicken was lovely and moist and I ordered a side of triple cooked chips which were super hot, expensive at £4, I only wish the rest of my dish was that hot. I had cheese and biscuits which consisted of Brie, blue cheese and cheddar together with chutney. My wife had Pain Perdue which was well presented and tasty. The restaurant is more like a cafe, not cosy, so don't choose it if you want a romantic evening. Overall would I go again? probably not. If you are ever near the Lake district try to book a table in the restaurant at Kendal College. On a final note; there is parking on an evening next to the college. Drive up to the barrier and press the call button, security will let you in. The barrier opens automatically on exit."
