"Such a shame. The plough has been run by a lovely couple and pillar of the community for decades, the village was hoping the new owner would breathe a bit of life into it, put a different stamp on etc., but they seem to be lacking the fundamentals. When we got there, there was no greeting, and we were seated VERY close to another couple. It took 10 minutes to get menus, no one came to take a drinks order so we ordered at the bar- they had no soda and no half pint glasses? no tall glasses, no table water We put in food order at the same time as although we were not in a rush, our time was not unlimited. There was no mention of delays or problems which would have helped set expectations for what was to come. An hour had past until first contact from the owners, with a fleeting ‘yours is coming imminently’. At 1hr 20 we were finally served- hooray, however our joy was short lived as it was actually for another table that was also waiting 1hr+, we did finally get some table water with a side of excuses for the kitchen (although with only one person serving and one person in the kitchen I don’t know what they expected! , no apologies for the extreme wait, or any placating offers. Plenty of pubs cook Sunday roasts fresh, it’s not rocket science. At the 1hr 30 mark, we (for the first time in my life decided to leave. On leaving there was no apology or attempt to make amends, in fact he just turned away seemingly uninterested. Mortifying for all involved. Advice for the new owners: reputation is slow to grow and quick to destroy. If the pub is not ready to keep up with demand and give people proper service, limit the people you let in, or don’t open until you have got the required staff and equipment. We truly hope that they turn things around, but it will be a while till we try again."

Amazing pub in a beautiful setting, food was fantastic and a fabulous atmosphere that you would come to expect from such a charming pub. Fish and chips especially good!

What a cracking gem this pub is, not only is it beautiful and set in a stunning location but the food is amazing and as for the staff, nothing is too much trouble, friendly and very welcoming.

Lovely meal as usual. Brian,Joyce Amiee are excellent hosts. A true little gem. I hadn't been for a few years due to Covid but I took my son (32) our meal was great. Give it a go, you won't be disappointed.

I wouldn’t recommend working here. I left my previous job because I was promised a lot, then I waited three weeks for them to open. Once they finally did, I worked for two days, but then they closed again. Now they won’t pay me for the work I completed.

The meal was beautiful, as always. Brian, Joyce, and Amiee are excellent hosts, making it a true little gem. I hadn't visited in a few years due to COVID, but I took my son (who is 32) this time, and our meal was fantastic. Don't hesitate to go; you won't be disappointed!

This was one of the best pub experiences I've ever had! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. They really went above and beyond to accommodate us by preparing the table for our arrival and setting up a water dish for our dog. The food was delicious, and the garden was lovely. We also enjoyed meeting their parrot!

**NOW PERMANENTLY CLOSED:** The Plough at Rede is one of Suffolk's best-kept secrets. This charming thatched pub features oak beams and an open fire, nestled in the quaint hamlet of Rede. It boasts a stunning location and a wonderful atmosphere, where guests are greeted with warmth and served the finest food for miles. Brian and Joyce have been running the Plough for over 30 years, with many customers returning again and again. I would give it 100 stars if I could!

It’s really disappointing when a once-great pub gets new owners and falls completely flat. When we arrived, we were greeted by a grumpy staff member who couldn’t find our reservation. After receiving our drinks, we had to get our own menus. We then sat and waited an hour for our starters, which were quite underwhelming. We weren’t offered any extra drinks either. While the main course was good, there was yet another long wait. The owner was unfriendly and didn’t check in on us at all. Eventually, he left one waitress to handle everything and went home. Overall, it was a truly disappointing experience, and I would strongly recommend avoiding this place.
