"The Pound truly stands out in the pub grub scene in their county. It’s surprising that along the busy A5/A49 route, there are so few places to stop without having to follow signs to long-closed pubs. The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful when it came to parking our car and caravan, and they have a spacious car park. We dined outside in their Swiss-style dining pods, which provided a fantastic experience. It was great to be under cover and shielded from the weather and other patrons, especially due to COVID concerns. The food was excellent, especially after traveling an extra half hour of hunger with no other proper rest stops available. We had a lovely break and appreciated the cheerful attitude of the staff, even amidst the dreary weather and challenging times. While we can't promise to return, given we still had 2.5 hours to drive home, we sincerely hope that other travelers on long journeys will find a similarly enjoyable stop here."

Stunning thatched pub decorated with colourful hanging baskets very picturesque. We hadn't booked so sat outside in the garden in the extra seated area on bales of hay, different but added more fun to our experience ! Food was amazing served by friendly staff and prompt service. Would definitely recommend.

Absolutely fantastic! The service was exceptional. I went in the afternoon to handle the balloons, and by evening, everything was set up for a romantic atmosphere. I hadn't even started eating yet, but wow, the bacon bits appetizer was so delicious that I wanted more. They truly have everything going for them. The staff was wonderful, and the ambiance was perfect. I can't thank them enough!

This pub is absolutely beautiful, warm, and inviting, with a fantastic menu. The communication before our visit was outstanding. Although we were staying in Marshbrook, we discovered this gem online. We enjoyed every meal—from steak and chicken burgers to a selection of cakes—all cooked to perfection and served by friendly staff. A coworker even arranged for us to watch the Champions League final, and the locals were very accommodating regarding the game’s controversies. The liqueur coffee we had was the best I've ever tasted. There’s a great selection at the bar as well. I would definitely come back!

visited the pound inn as past and looked for a good meal. when we moved to the parking lot, we could see a good access to the gardens and the pub. we found that they were "the home of the cake", so we both decided to have every cake. they can choose from several dead, 2 sides and a gravy. the problem I always found was with a cake, there was never enough serious. here you get an extra gravy with the cake. problem solved. the drinks flow beautiful and the personal was attentive and friendly with a welcoming atmosphere. my friend and I will return for another great meal. would recommend. also fair prices.

"On arrival, the pub looked cute and cosy open early for breakfast, decent reviews it seems a place to get out of the snow! After sitting down for a few minutes we ordered breakfast coffee, all seemed fine until we heard ‘local regulars’ having a xenophobic, conversation with the waitress about refugees. This conversation took place as the waitress was behind the bar and the couple sat across from her at their table, and with no music playing no atmosphere at all actually) and no one else in the pub it was hard to hear anything else! Myself my partner felt very awkward, angry and extremely uncomfortable it was just loud enough to hear and as the only other people in there we couldn’t decide if this was the norm in this place, or if this was just a few ‘bad apples’ but they obviously didn’t seem to care that we could openly hear their conversation discussing refugees as if they were item? which makes me think it’s the norm here) Extremely harmful, especially given the tragic history of this place a lynching had taken place only 3 years ago) the continuous shocking racism that comes from their local MP Philip Dune. And this isn’t a personal ‘woke’ agenda as the business owner tried to suggest when we complained, ‘leave my agenda at the door’ we were told in the only google review the venue have seemed to respond too, quite worrying they are not trying to reassure us we had misheard but instead were very defensive and took no accountability) this is just the truth of this town information you could easily find on google when reviewing where to visit, which made this whole experience even more uncomfortable. Even if they were having a completely innocent conversation, why do they feel the need to do this over the bar to the customers and not have their own personal conversation at the table which we did not have to overhear? Are the staff too lazy to walk around to the table? It most certainly was not busy so there was no excuse for this whole situation to take place. It was our first time in this town and the whole thing was just really uncomfortable. You’d think the town a local business especially, would be doing all they can to separate themselves from such things. It’s a shame the energy and atmosphere doesn’t match the beautiful surroundings. I’d recommend avoiding, awkward xenophobic conversation aside the Veggie breakfast was very bland and basic, sausages had no flavour other than the sauce I put on them and my partners poached eggs were undercooked soggy"
