"So after waiting for days to go in and see ALLISON the manager (who refused to give her last name so apologises for not including that in here) my partner was told he still wouldn’t be allowed in but not because of the incident two years ago. He isn’t allowed in because of the original complaint which I logged. Firstly, the staff told us to write a complaint that day if we weren’t happy with them because there was no manager in to speak with. Therefore that is exactly what we did. What I wasn’t prepared for however is the absolute vile attitude of the manager which I had to deal with today. When I told her that it wasn’t fair to penalise us over writing a complaint which her staff told us to do, she said “if they told you to jump off a bridge would you do it?” I can’t see any scenario where talking about suicide is acceptable, it certainly isn’t professional and I expected more from a Mitchell’s and Butler property. I would like to take this complaint higher now as the “manager” was nothing short of an insulting joke. Staff cannot punish paying customers for writing a complaint when it is within company policy for customers to be able to do so freely without fear or repercussions. However in this case we feel personally attacked by the sheer cruelty and unprofessionalism of this woman. To add to this, she was actually shouting down the phone to me so I hope the phone is kept somewhere private as this certainly would have been distressing for other customers trying to sit and eat in the restaurant today. The manager actually called me back after I told her I was going to write another complaint and said “that’s exactly why you aren’t getting in”. Wow. Very mature and very professional. Well done."

This was my first time dining at this restaurant and I ordered the fish and chips as well as the fish and salad (I forgot to request no chips, my mistake).
