"My daughter and I had a lovely few days staying at the Holiday Inn in Newcastle. Excellent value and very comfortable hotel. We had good meals and service in every venue we ate in except at the Priory. Thought Tynemouth was a great town and the Metro so handy. However our visit to the Priory was not good. My daughter had a couple of beers and a prawn salad. I had a pot of tea , glass of water and a tuna and sweetcorn sandwich on brown bread. We sat outside. Service was slow. When I poured my tea it tasted stewed or from a thermos. Opened the lid and it was caked with old tea bag buildup. The spout was cracked also. I took it inside and the waitress gave me another teapot. Neither of these pots had been in a dishwasher for ??????long. I stuck to my water. The bread was not fresh and was dried up at the edges. The prawn salad was watery. Toilets were smelly and not as clean as expected. Money had been spent on them to upgrade some time ago. Dogs were most welcome !!!!!Too welcome and too many. Ok outside but lying in the middle of the floor inside was like an obstacle course on way to the toilet. We did like sitting in the sun watching the world go by. Loved Tynemouth but sadly not the Priory Pub which was recommended to us by staff at the pub with the stuffed collie in the glass case. Only needed a light lunch as we had a very good breakfast."

Filthy place, rotten beer and staff to match. Just don’t understand, nice village, no need for such a place.

We had a lovely lunch in the sun. We ordered panini which came with fabulous homemade chips, side salad and coleslaw. Lovely, relaxed attitude and friendly service.

The food was absolutely delightful. I ordered a chicken and bacon salad and it was one of the best I've ever had! The staff were very helpful and polite. I will definitely be coming back! View menu

This is a nice bar with good music and entertainment however, bar staff need some training! After standing at the bar for over ten minutes waiting to be served, the young bar lad served whoever ‘shouted’ at him to serve them rather than look at who’s been there the longest serving appropriately in turn! It’s not hard to do! Granted, it’s a Friday night and it’s busy but don’t get bar stuff who can’t handle a busy bar to work on your bar.

Me and my family came here for a meal, firstly you get a nice vibe when you walk in. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We ordered 7 meals, it does state on the menu a standard 30 minute wait but possible longer during busy periods. We waited 45 minutes but it was worth it. I had the burger which was made fresh with home cooked chips , my daughter had the chicken nuggets again made fresh, my parents had steak and ale pie the meat was so tender it fell apart when you picked it up, my sister and niece both had the hunters chicken which was delicious and my partner had the pizza again very nice. The portion sizes are very generous and the staff checked everything was ok. Great value for m... View menu

We ordered three drinks and three meals at this restaurant. We waited for almost an hour for our food, which the waitress explained was due to a delay. She mentioned that we should have been informed when we placed our order. When our pizza arrived, it was almost burnt on the edges and the rest of the pizza was sloppy and unappetizing. My wife and I ordered fish and chips, with the chips being the only highlight as the batter on the fish was undercooked. Overall, it was two disappointing meals. The beer and soft drinks were satisfactory, but the toilets had a strong unpleasant smell. The urinals were made of cut-away beer kegs, and we were unsure of how they were cleaned. We left the restaur...

We stopped in for lunch during a family day trip and stumbled upon The Priory, a restaurant we had never heard of before. We were pleasantly surprised by the good selection of beer and the welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. Although it wasn't overly busy, it wasn't too quiet either. We enjoyed a few drinks before our meal, and I highly recommend the local beer, Jack the Devil. We all ordered fish and chips, with our three-year-old opting for the child fish bites and a side of mushy peas, which they happily accommodated. The food took a little while to come out, but it was clearly freshly prepared and well worth the wait. Despite some reviews mentioning the prices being high, we found our meal...
