"After clambering around Middleham Castle in this very pretty village, we crossed the road to this delightful Tea Room to a very warm welcome, and the enjoyment of a delicious afternoon tea.Whilst we were there,we became aware that the Priory was residential, and were shown around this beautifully appointed accommodation. The rooms are stunning, each room themed and colour coordinated, with a very cosy lounge to relax in. This super hotel is not licensed to sell alcohol, but guests are allowed to bring their own, and may keep some in the fridge if required. We were so impressed that we are definitely going to stay there sometime next year."

Lovely little tea room. Staff and owners are exceptional and the cakes and scones are worth a visit on their own.

We'd spent the morning out on the Gallops and stopped mainly as they had outdoor seating.Good coffee, really good cake and nice staff what more could you ask?

Lovely tea and cakes (we can recommend the cream scone and lime cake) in a friendly atmosphere. Owners made everyone very welcome including our dog, who even got a complementary sausage!

The range and variety of homemade cakes and scones was great. We tried walnut and Stilton scones with chutney and blueberry scones with jam and cream. Yummy! Yorkshire tea completed the treat.

By night it is a B&B during the day time its a tea room, that sells a range of lovely homemade cakes. Lovely owners. During my brief visit to the area (long weekend) as the tea and cake was so good I managed to visit twice !!!

Fantastic stay, all superb, couldn't have been better. Room, breakfast, the welcome.....and the afternoon coffee and cakes! All fantastic. Sarah, Chris and arena great fun, we will be back soon. Middle ham, the walks, the Local pubs and the racehorses, all made for a wonderful stay.

We called in after a dog walk having read reviews that they we dog friendly. They are wonderful. The dogs got sausage within minutes of arrival! Service was prompt and extremely friendly. The food was excellent and the cakes to die for! We would definitely go back. It looked a beautiful place to stay as well judging by the decor of the surroundings.

My husband and I popped in for some afternoon tea after spending some time exploring Middleham Castle. I had a raspberry and elderflower sponge and my husband had a scone. The sponge cake was beautifully light with lovely flavoured filling and just the right amount of raspberries in the sponge so that it wasn't soggy. My husband said that the scone was the best he'd ever tasted. Good choice of tea as well. Friendly and efficient service. Would certainly go back if we're in the area again. There is also a guest house; if the breakfasts are as good as the teas then it would be well worth staying there.

"We had booked with booking.com . On arrival we were told that we didn't get breakfast included and that it would be £15 a head. We accepted this although thought was pretty steep for breakfast in a pub.The first morning we were given a menu clearly stating that breakfasts were included with all accommodation. I ordered poached eggs with smoked salmon and the other two ordered a full English breakfast which included homemade black pudding. The breakfasts arrived ,one of my poached eggs was runny, the other hard. The English breakfasts had no black pudding on the plates and when queried we were told that the deliveries hadn't arrived. Doesn't homemade imply made on or near the premises and as the owner states he is a butcher by trade I would expect he had made the black pudding. No alternatives were offered and presentation was distinctly lacking , with the baked beans poured over the other items. The next day I risked the full breakfast with black pudding which was lovely. But again the others had badly cooked poached eggs. We were offered no fruit juice, cereal or even toast and marmalade. On leaving we discovered the pub was unmanned , despite poor mobile signal. The owner turned up after 15 minutes. The bill was handed over, charging us for seven breakfasts when we had six, it was adjusted after he asked if one of us had had two breakfast one day? He served and cooked them so should know the answer to that. We were also then overcharged for nine coffee when three coffees and two teas had been ordered. Having had a family B and small hotel in York I advised him that standards were not what I was used to. I spoke to someone who had also visited recently and she stated a member of staff had charged them £15 per head for their similar breakfast where we were charged the menu price. Exceptionally poor menu, inaccurate advise saying breakfast included then charging us and probably the worst breakfast I have eaten in similar accommodation."
