"I would never have wanted to come to this city, but there is a motorcycle meeting here, so I needed somewhere to stay. The Redline was a bit difficult to get used to at first. The room is right on the street, but can be reached from the back via a detour of around 50 m. There is also free parking there if you can find it. The landlord was very accommodating and showed me to my room, even though, as I said, it was quite a journey to get there. I've gotten used to it and find it quite acceptable. The room is perfect for one person with its own clean wet room. The bed (approx. 1.20 m) can also be used for a short time by two people. I like it a little wider, but it would work. No breakfast is offered on site, but there is a box with some cereal. The stocked refrigerator offers milk, apple juice and fruit juice as well as yogurt. I'm pretty happy. If you are looking for a restaurant, you can visit the Brown Cow, about a 5-minute walk away. The food is English, breakfast is also offered from 10:00 a.m., very rich and fairly priced. It was also recommended by my host and I can recommend it to others."

visited once during short stay in Dalton warm welcome from friendly staff (and locals), good and filling portions (cumberland sausage for me, scampi for the boss). Nice atmosphere, would happily return

The pub was lovely, the staff were great and the drinks were lovely. Quite big in length but the height of the ceiling was (and I'm not joking) about 5ft tall. You had to duck undr 4 bars to get the the back of the pub View menu

As the last contributor said the Red Lion has had it's ups and downs. We have been eating here for a lot of years and we went back after quiet a few months. We were delighted with the excellent Sunday roast .Will be back again soon.

My wife were on holiday and made this our “local” ..... though small inside it was lovely and relaxing... although the restaurant wasn’t open we enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere .... Nicky the landlady made us welcome and always asked about our day and even our dog welcome.... Thursday is quiz night ... and it’s serious lol... so if you want a nice pint and a relaxing evening this pub is the one

The quality of the food has gone up and down at the Red Lion over the years it is on the up at the moment. My daughter had scallops to start and these were the highlight of the meal beautifully cooked and presented well. Her Lamb Shank main was also excellent with beautifully creamy mashed potato. My Belly Pork was delicious but I was not keen on the sides it came with (just personal taste). Very pleasant waiting and bar staff. Very enjoyable evening.
