"This is not the first time i have been to the Saxon, but it was the first since i moved away from the area so when we were visiting friends when they asked where we would like to eat i didnt hesitate THE SAXON Weeting. As you walk in through the door you are greeted by Paul and Mandy as if you are a friend (we are now) they create very relaxed atmosphere , the restaurant is half of the pub layout but this doesnt affect the atmoshere only adds to it, there is a great selection on the menu but we went on a Sunday for the carvery( see title) it is buffet style with chef cutting your selection 1 of 4 or should you want to 4 of 4 meats i chose the latter as they all looked very appetising pork, beef, gammon and turkey (im drooling as i write this) then help yourself to great selection of fresh veg, if you still feel like more there is a great selection of sweets, i recommend the dime bar cake mmmmmm. This is my first review as i chose to write it as i couldnt believe that THE SAXON WEETING has not been mentioned before and it deserves it, if you find youself looking for somewhere to eat i wouldnt hesitate in recommending THE SAXON i guarantee you will not be dissapointed"

The food was delicious, I had roast beef with veggies and roast potatoes, but it was not very hot, almost cold. It's a shame because it has deterred us from returning. Food: 4 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 2

Having read the other reviews we decided to see for ourselves so on the Monday lunchtime we arrived to find that they only cooked on Wednesday nights and Sunday lunchtime so we had to go hungry. Maybe we may try again maybe

I have visited the Saxon several times, and never had a negative experience. The carvery is lovely, homecooked meets pup grub. The staff are the highlight, Mandy and Paul really make you feel welcome, and any locals I have encountered were just as friendly. A lovely place to visit, in a very comfortable setting.

This charming rural pub offers a Sunday carvery with plenty of delicious, home-cooked fresh vegetables. The only downside was that the food was lukewarm, but I believe this may have been a one-time occurrence. The pub has ample parking and is wheelchair accessible with a ramp and wide doors. Prices range from £10-20 per person. I would give the food a rating of 3 out of 5.

If you are in this area and would like a meal please do try this place. The menu is varied Wed to Sat Lunch time and Evenings till 8.30pm.With a carvery on Sunday booking for Sundays is advisable.Your hosts will give you the most friendliest welcome you are ever likley to receive just try not to make Paul laugh to much otherwise he will struggle to serve you.We now live in Spain but always visit on our trips to the UK even travelling 50miles or more to eat and meet.

We had heard that The Saxon have a Carvery of a Sunday and also a jam session for musicians. The Carvery was good, well cooked tasty food with a choice of beef, pork and Turkey. Plenty of vegetables and roast and/or boiled potatoes. We were a party of three and we had bread and butter pudding, and apple crumble for dessert. Again, good well cooked and ample portions. The jam musicians consisted of electric as well as bass guitarists, a fiddle player and several singers. Good standard. A very enjoyable afternoon. We were welcomed at the pub, and we had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. We will return.....

Looked on line for a carvery and found some good reviews for the Saxon. It turned out to be a very dissapointing visit. When we entered the car park it looked rather neglected. Entering the pub and things looked slightly better and we were served at the bar quite quickly. The restaurant was empty, the tables whilst clean were completely empty . There was also nothing on the walls so the room felt very stark and empty. The food was on one heated trolley and the meats were pre carved in dishes which wasn't a good sign as I always thought a carvery was where you carved the meat to serve it. We were served fairly promptly but som of the food was not yet on the trolley. On taking the plate I noti...
