"beautiful atmosphere, friendly staff offers fast service. that we had was a good fish finger sandwich with beautiful chips. are they warned, it may not be anyone with allergies, as they were not able to confirm cross-contamination risk for our satisfaction, so our party member had been fighting! to be fair, many places are so. not distract from the joy of a casual drop in lunch and pint. I would recommend to anyone looking to avoid the main street where the pubs are likely packed."

This pub is welcoming and the food and drinks are excellent. The staff are pleasant and helpful. The only downside was that it was uncomfortably cold inside when we visited for lunch.

visited in a Saturday at 1:30 a.m. for a bit lunch. I found a table and ordered cash. a star lost as one of the courts we wanted was not available. nice to visit again when in the city.

Nice pub with a good selection of drinks. We came in a bit late on a Tuesday after an art class and the fella behind the bar was very helpful and keen to talk us through the wines. Nice place to sit and have a drink on a quiet night View menu

Cozy, stylish, excellent food. Came to England wanting to try bangers mash and fish n chips and this place gave us both with excellence! Prices are a tad higher than other pubs, but worth it for the atmosphere and quality of food! Enjoyed a cozy corner to watch the rain, write postcards, and eat slowly. Wonderful!

Popped in for lunch on one of the hottest days of the year. Sat in a lovely shady courtyard and enjoyed really tasty food. The menu was varied and my fish and chips (not very adventurous, I know, but I have dietary limitations at the moment) was very good excellent chips, lovely crispy batter and flaky fish, and the peas tasted fresh and not over cooked.

had a lunch for 6 people and it was delicious! could be the best pubburger I ever had. everyone was very happy with their eating. large selection on the menu, essential portions and really delicious. most of our party had steak and they were great. the atmosphere is great. the bar staff has led us a register card that was helpful. very clean. highly recommended. A firm favourite on the Canterbury circuit, it always seems to fit your need. Quiet times offer a calm dining experience with a decent and evolving menu. Never over crowded, with a social element lacking from many venues. You can slip into the adjoining wine bar in the buttermarket for a real feel of the historic city. (Take the window seat, the cathedral scaffolding might be annoying)

The restaurant has a charming ambience, but unfortunately, the food was subpar. I ordered a veggie burger that seemed to have been frozen and reheated, with a dry bun that lacked any juiciness or flavor. I also received potatoes on the side instead of fries, which were again bland and dry. The sticky toffee pudding was one of the worst I've had in England. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant for anyone seeking a satisfying meal.

"After never visiting Canterbury before we where looking for somewhere to have a late lunch, we came across this place which looked ok, upon entering the back room we were offered to take a seat in the front area and someone will be with us. We asked what food there was and we where sarcastically shown the food on the blackboard, after choosing what we wanted the polite man went off and put the order in. We did feel that because the man had asked a couple of questions to another member of staff that he was spoke down too a bit. Anyway after placing the order and what we wanted the food came out it wasn’t correct but because it seemed like we were going to interrupt the people in the back room we just took what we had. It was nice food though. When we went to pay we hadn’t noticed that there wasn’t a price list so when we asked for the bill we were told that it was donation, what we thought was enough, it wasn’t posted anywhere and it took us by surprise as we where standing at the till, I was going to pay in cash but was told they don’t take cash so I had to give my donation in card by telling the person how much we where donating. After plucking a figure out of air as we wasn’t prepared we paid and left. Upon leaving we felt that the person we paid thought we hadn’t paid enough and wasn’t happy with the amount but after working out what we would have paid properly we worked out that we had paid more than what it might have been if there was a proper price on everything. Overall it has a great ethos and it’s great for giving people the experience that they need to be in a working environment but they need to show the price or tell customers first that it’s donations and card only."
