"The Tappit Hen is tucked away down St.Swithin’s Lane but should be tried at least once after work. The service was excellent with our waiter greeting us at the door with a smile and looking after us for the evening. Food was of a high standard and the wine list had a large range ‘by the glass’ which allowed us to try wines outside our usual choices. Another visit is on the cards."

We enjoyed the food and the Davy house red was very drinkable. Good atmosphere, friendly and efficient staff, reasonable prices.

When we arrived, the restaurant was closed, even though we had received a booking confirmation 24 hours earlier. The only silver lining was that the nearby St. Swithin's Wine Bar was fantastic and earned five stars all around!

I had a lovely dinner here after work on a weekday. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Although I would have preferred to sit down since the bar area feels more suited for drinks, I still thoroughly enjoyed my meal. View menu

When we arrived, the restaurant was closed even though we had confirmed our reservation 24 hours prior. The silver lining was that we ended up at St Swithens Wine Bar just across the street, which exceeded our expectations and deserves a five-star rating all around!

The Tappit Hen has steak night on Wednesdays, but we didn’t feel like steak so ordered burger and chips as a main and a starter of Serrano ham, Russian salad and Legbar boiled egg. All delicious! Good wine selection and finished with a port and Madeira. Very enjoyable evening.

It’s challenging to evaluate the experience on a Friday morning during the COVID-19 pandemic, but the restaurant made a commendable effort. The food was decent, and the staff member who attended to us was incredibly helpful. The ambiance is pleasant as well. Overall, it's worth a visit. View menu

It's difficult to provide a thorough review on a Friday morning during the ongoing COVID-19 situation. However, the restaurant made a solid effort; the food was quite good, and our server was very attentive and helpful. The ambiance of the place is also pleasant. Overall, it’s worth a visit.

Really nice venue for catching up with friends. A couple of the dishes we ordered didn’t come quite complete but staff were helpful in rectifying for us. Felt we were being rushed a bit to order our courses with the kitchen didn’t really understand why as there weren’t many diners who came in after us anyway. Overall though, an enjoyable visit.
