"My experience at this restaurant was disappointing. I ordered a cream tea with scones and cream, but it did not meet my expectations. The scones were flat and overly sweet, almost like eating sugary flour. The cream provided was not real cream, but a cheap whipped substitute. While the atmosphere and service were pleasant, the quality of the food left much to be desired. I left feeling unsatisfied and wishing for a refund."

I wanted to do something on Christmas Eve and was visiting Hartington. I decided to stop in on my way back. The staff was very friendly, and the restaurant is dog-friendly and very clean. The food and coffee were amazing! View menu

Great café and probably the best bacon butty for miles. Freshest thick cut crusty bread, and bacon cooked to perfection, well browned but by no means burnt, just fresh tasty. Cakes, lovely too, treacle slice for me. Well worth a visit.

Tea junction is our go to place when in the area. The menu is wonderful, the staff are great and our furry mate Amber is welcome, too! We'll usually eat, go for walkies along the old track bed, then back for heavenly ce cream and great coffee. Perfect.

Another very welcome return visit for a hot drink and snack. As expected, the owner has made all the right provisions for a safe take away in these Covid times. We enjoyed a tasty scone and hot sausage roll outside on a sunny day at one of the well distanced tables. An ideal stop over on the Manifold Trail. View menu

The T Junction is run by friendly ladies who offer delicious food and fantastic service. There is ample free parking near a clean public restroom, with a pay car park also available on site. Many visitors, including ourselves, stop by for a meal or snack after a walk or bike ride. The menu offers a variety of options, including delicious ice cream. Overall, a great spot to refuel and relax.

"Our room faced the front of the hotel, and while the village was quiet with only two pubs and a small corner store, it seemed to be a shortcut for heavy vehicles speeding downhill at night, with headlights constantly illuminating our room. We also found out that the hotel closes in the evening if it's not busy, and the front door may be locked as early as 10 PM, requiring a code for re-entry. The internet service was poor; even standing just outside the front door, I had no reception and couldn't call the emergency numbers posted there. It appears that the quality of the rooms varies significantly, with some having been upgraded while others are less desirable, including our own. When we questioned our bill because we didn't think the room was worth £140, we were told that since we had booked through Charming Escapes, we should take it up with them, as the hotel receives only a fraction of what we paid. This made us feel like second-class guests, especially since it seemed we were stuck in a low-quality room. The standard rate for a double room is £90, and if I were to rate our experience like on the TV show "Four in a Bed," I would say £50 a night would have been generous. Previous reviews also mentioned an issue with the door handle and the ability to lock the room, which had not been fixed. If you’re just looking for a place to dry off your hiking boots, this hotel might suffice, but I wouldn't recommend staying here again. It has a lot of potential, and thankfully, we had a wonderful evening at The Devonshire Arms just across the street—it felt like a whole different experience. It seems the staff at Charles Cotton have simply given up."
