"Even on a wet and miserable day this tea room was packed. We only had to wait a minute or two though while the staff cleared a table. There are seats outside (under cover) but I was too cold and wet to consider that! It’s in the very pretty Hollybeck Nursery between Southwell and Oxton. The staff are all super friendly, efficient and work together as a team and the menu is great covers all tastes with hot food, sandwiches, breakfasts etc. You won’t be disappointed here unless of course you can’t get in! Although I noticed some people were given buzzers so presumably they wandered around the nursery until there was a free table."

Excellent lunch, with great customer service. They were very busy and we had ham salads which were excellent. Lovely clean tea rooms with plenty of staff and quick service. Well worth a visit, at a very well stocked and affordable garden centre, great afternoon visit.

Dropped in while visiting the garden centre. We had. Offers and scones, one cheese and the other date and walnut. The coffee were strong and hot. The scones were large and tasty. The cafe has lots of indoor tables and a few outdoors. We sat inside because it was cool outside. The issue was the noise as it was quite full. As someone other hearing loss I found it difficult to hear even wearing hearing aids. View menu

As most older people do, we like going to local garden centres and having afternoon tea after spending (far too much) on plants. The gardening centre is excellent and we were tired and thirsty. Innocently we thought an establishment called a tearoom would serve afternoon tea. But no chairs were being put on tables and a lady with a headmistress manner said the tearoom closed at 3.30! Some of the reviewers must have their tea straight after lunch. We regretted that we had skipped lunch in order to fully benefit from a full afternoon tea but instead went directly to Reg Taylor

Set in a very large garden centre it 's even has faux outdoor seating under the garden centres main canopy roof. The food is very good indeed mostly consisting of snacks and cream cheese it 's a simple menu but I would definitely recommend the bacon and brie warm baguette. Also some great cakes lots of different coffee options, tea etc. If you have your dog use the outdoor area which has some lovely sofa style seating and if I 'm not mistaken I think there 's also a doggy menu... or at the very least some doggy ice cream. Cafe is Garden Centre prices but you wouldn 't expect any different and you 'll definitely enjoy the visit

"I’ve just realised I’ve been visiting The Beck for over 20 years now for both drinks and meals with friends and family and I’ve never written a review! The Beck for me is home from home and I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve visited. They say a business is only as good as it’s staff, and maybe this is why The Beck has lasted so long with a reputation for a relaxed atmosphere good food and good service. The staff here are friendly, caring and professional, I’ve never been anywhere where I felt so at home as The Beck. Edward, Julie, Theresa, Kieran and not forgetting Trish in the kitchen make the place what it is! In 20 years I’ve never had a bad meal here, the food is excellent, and today did not disappoint. I was treating my parents and wife to a belated Mother’s Day and Dad’s birthday meal out, I had the lamb roast which was sublime and my dad had the blade of beef which in his words was “melt in your mouth” good! My Wife had a chilli and my Mum had the flat bread, which were also very nice and portions are plentiful. My daughter has Dairy and Soya allergies and wanted sausages and mash however the mash had butter in it so they made it with chips instead, she also cleared her plate! If you want to go somewhere with a nice warm friendly atmosphere and excellent food at very reasonable prices then The Beck is definitely worth a visit."
