"I recently returned from a one-night glamping experience that included wine tasting, dinner, and breakfast, and it was overall excellent. The lodge was charming, especially the spacious bathroom, and the wine tour and tasting were enjoyable and informative. The restaurant, with its fantastic views, had a great atmosphere and decor. However, the actual food was a disappointment. While the starters were fine, my hake main course tasted overly salty and my husband's lamb was tough. After expressing our concerns to the waiter (who informed us that the couple at the next table had also complained), we were offered replacements. When we declined, the manageress kindly brought me a delicious cheese board and my husband a decent rice pudding dessert. The meal voucher included £40 per person, as well as a bottle of wine and pre-dinner drinks, yet we were surprised when we were told that we owed nothing upon receiving the bill. Breakfast was tasty, although service was a bit haphazard due to a wedding setup. Overall, I would still recommend this place, but the chef should work on improving the food quality."

Great setting but let down by an average Sunday lunch. Over priced for what you get. Need to learn how to cook Yorkshire puds.

We went for a wine tour and wine tasting accompanied by a cheese board. The guide was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and engaging. The wine was exceptional and the cheese board was delicious and generously portioned. Overall, the experience was fantastic and I would highly recommend it. The Sunday lunches also looked promising, so we plan on making a reservation soon.

Went on the wine tasting with friends, really enjoyed it, our guide was friendly and informative. Part of the package was Sunday lunch. Such a lovely venue our expectations were high. Sadly it was a very disappointing meal, I had roast beef, there was 1 slices, roast potatoes were deep fat fried and the Yorkshire was inedible also looked and tasted deep fat fried. Very poor meal for such a lovely venue. Others unhappy with service and food sadly.

We celebrated a 70th birthday at this restaurant and were impressed by the electric atmosphere with music playing in the background. We enjoyed a three-course meal, all made from scratch, and indulged in a glass of Evolution wine. The presentation of the dishes was artistic and the flavors had our taste buds tingling. The serving staff were attentive and made us feel welcome. The tour of the vineyard was impressive, and our guide was very knowledgeable in her presentation. Overall, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit.

We attended a vineyard, winery and wine-tasting at Hencote. Our guide, Brian was superb, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the business and what a great story Hencote has to tell. Beautiful scenery and a very modern winery and contemporary restaurant, decking and terrace. Definitely worth a visit on a sunny day! We didn’t dine on this occasion but will definitely go back and try the restaurant. It looked great. The wines were excellent! I particularly liked the LXX sparkling white and the Mark III red. They also produce white and rosé, all very nice. Nice cheese board too!!

We were invited to celebrate a special birthday including the wine tasting and Sunday lunch. Our guide was very friendly and her presentation of wine and the operation of the winery educational. The venue was really most impressive, well laid out with really good views over Shrewsbury and were looking forward to our meal. Unfortunately the service was extremely slow despite numerous reminders and in fact other diners arrived and were served before us even though we had pre ordered, and paid, for the meal. Nearly an hour wait for each course was unacceptable. When the food eventually arrived it was very average, lukewarm and the Yorkshire puddings virtually inedible. To sum up very poor servi...

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."
