"This is a thoroughly delightful spot for a breakfast, lunch or morning or afternoon tea, if you happen to visiting Sherwood Forest or the village of Edwinstowe. The cafe coffee shop is located just off Mansfield Road, in a collection of shops businesses in the Church Farm Centre. It’s well-signed on Mansfield Road, and it is just by the entrance to the Church of St Mary where legend has Robin Hood marrying Maid Marion). The Village Kitchen serves up a delectable selection of soups, sandwiches, toasties and paninis, and more substantial lunch offerings such as homemade lasagna, quiche, and a cheese and potato bake. There 's also a lunch-time 'specials ' board, with a decent selection of hot dishes and lighter snacks. Add to that a mouth-wateringly sumptuous selection of cakes, scones and slices, and outstanding barista-style coffee, and you have the perfect spot for a perfect bite to eat. We loved our lunch-time visiting here, after a wander through Sherwood Forest and a visit to the Major Oak. There’s inside seating in a fairly small cafe space, but plenty of outside seating, some under canopies with heating. The cafe was very busy inside, so we sat outside. The day was cool but sunny, so we didn’t mind the fresh air at all; blankets are provided for cold knees! I love the vintage chic approach to the cafe: a mismatched but fabulously eclectic mix of crockery and china, the non-matching chairs and tables, and various curiosities in the yard. That kind of look really works for me. It creates a very homely and welcoming feel, unpretentious and not stuffy, but with considerable care and attention given to detail. We had a great lunch. The carrot and coriander soup was a very ample serve, and hot and tasty. The 'Lucy 's Club Sandwich from the 'specials ' board) was outstanding; the breaded chicken breast was plump and perfectly cooked, and the sandwich laden with bacon and salad, with crisps and home-made coleslaw on the side. We enjoyed our food very much. A sign of a good cafe for me is its coffee. We had a perfectly brewed double espresso, and a latte. Coffee at its best, that’s for sure. Service was prompt, welcoming and friendly, without being overbearing or obtrusive. It was certainly ‘service with a smile’. We had parked in the visitor centre4 car park £4.00 for the day), and the cafe is just a short walk from there. We loved our visit there; we recommend it highly, and will certainly be back when next we are passing through the village."

Fab little tea room. Lovely friendly staff, happily working together. Its a compact little place with tables mostly for two. Home made food and cakes, with very generous portions. Great selection of food and tea's. Its tucked away. We though it was closed at first but then found the right blue door near the sign on the wall in the court yard. Love the retro cutlery. Reminds me of when I was a kid!

"I’ve just realised I’ve been visiting The Beck for over 20 years now for both drinks and meals with friends and family and I’ve never written a review! The Beck for me is home from home and I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve visited. They say a business is only as good as it’s staff, and maybe this is why The Beck has lasted so long with a reputation for a relaxed atmosphere good food and good service. The staff here are friendly, caring and professional, I’ve never been anywhere where I felt so at home as The Beck. Edward, Julie, Theresa, Kieran and not forgetting Trish in the kitchen make the place what it is! In 20 years I’ve never had a bad meal here, the food is excellent, and today did not disappoint. I was treating my parents and wife to a belated Mother’s Day and Dad’s birthday meal out, I had the lamb roast which was sublime and my dad had the blade of beef which in his words was “melt in your mouth” good! My Wife had a chilli and my Mum had the flat bread, which were also very nice and portions are plentiful. My daughter has Dairy and Soya allergies and wanted sausages and mash however the mash had butter in it so they made it with chips instead, she also cleared her plate! If you want to go somewhere with a nice warm friendly atmosphere and excellent food at very reasonable prices then The Beck is definitely worth a visit."
