"I recently had a twelve-hour, daytime layover in Munich. Those kinds of layovers can be as great as they can be hellish. Da Fausto was key in making our time in Munich extremely worthwhile. We took the Lufthansa Express bus from the airport into the city centre, and didn't walk for very long until we found Trattoria Da Fausto. The owner and his wife were extremelt welcoming, and the space itself is beautiful. They must take very good care of their pothos plants to have them growing all throughout the ceilings of the space. It's thoroughly delightful. We ordered the coursed meal (four or five courses? It's been a few weeks since I was there), and not a single thing disappointed. I had to stop and stare at the friend I was with when we got to the dessert course. The panna cotta, which the owner told us was made fresh every day, puts every other thing that calls itself panna cotta that I've had to shame. A small detail in the overall quality of the meal, but I am a huge fan of well-done sweets. When we were finished, we were talking with the owner, the standard casual banter between tourist and warm, welcoming local. Plot twist, he has been to and played golf on courses extremely close to where I live in North Carolina, USA. Usually people will ask if you're from LA, NYC, or Miami, and if you say something else they don't know where it is. But this man actually managed to have a piece of our home city with him all the way in Munich. All in all, eleven out of ten, go and get the coursed menu and enjoy your time at Trattoria da Fausto."
