"We arrived at this restaurant after seeing it advertised as a pub stopover for motorhomes. When we entered, we were told that they were not serving food despite the advertisement, which was disappointing. We decided to stay for one drink and quickly realized that this was a local dive bar. The locals were loud, singing loudly, and the atmosphere was not inviting. There were young people drinking and engaging in questionable activities. The beer garden reeked of marijuana. The restaurant is located across from a council estate with houses and high-rise flats. I would not recommend this place to anyone."

This place has went downhill drastically is recent years. The pub has been decorated which is nice, but bar staff are too busy on their high horse to care about the clientèle. Closes early most evenings so don't expect to be served after 2230.

Absolutely fabulous wee pub, the people who work there and the community round about are so friendly. Had a fabulous dinner in there last night. Value for money? I don’t know how they make a profit with the quality and quantity you get for your money. Must go! Will absolutely go back

This restaurant was not good at all. Although COVID measures were in place, they were not followed or enforced. The first bartender was very friendly, but the second one was not. The locals were unwelcoming, and the drinks were expensive for their quality. To top it off, the pint was subpar.

This was my first visit to Aunty Kate's with five friends to celebrate my upcoming retirement. We were warmly greeted by Lizzie when we arrived, and the service was consistently excellent throughout the meal. I will definitely be returning, though my only complaint is that there was no Cointreau behind the bar. View menu

Took the train from Edinburgh to Falkirk in support of my friends The Jennifer Ewan Band. At the Union Inn I was pleasantly surprised by the food and drink. The Haggis Bon Bons (first photo) for lunch with pepper sauce really hit the spot. Then, for supper the Beef Olives with brown sauce, potatoes, carrots and green beans were more than could be imagined. I’ll be back!!

We went in on a cold wet October night and the barmaid(manager? invited us in even though they were not serving and allowed us to eat from just eats and gave us plates, sauces and cutlery. Everyone was friendly we had conversations from footie to the merits of Steeleye Span, the jukebox was amazing. This is customer service at its best highly highly recommend them and we go and eat there when we can

Iv known bout this place for a long time but heard it had a bad reputation with the clientele. but after seeing the refurbishment on Facebook we decided to go for a few drinks in the sun but as we arrived there was drunk lads standing on the tables shouting and singing so we turned round and went elsewhere. This place needs to be more strict with the customers before they ruin it for a lovely looking bar on the canal. View menu

Staff couldn't do enough for us and made the pup feel welcome with lots of fuss. Pizzas were amazing, all homemade (spoke to the chef) super fresh! Very, very reasonable. Lovely decor and nice and clean. I'd say it is a locals pub on the up and visitors and made very welcome. My only concern was we left a 10 quid tip and they were very concerned it was too much, it was not. Excellent service and food in a nice atmosphere and location!

In these strange times I think we should applaud places which are able to open, provide a warm, friendly service and follow the new rules. We stopped at the Union Inn after visiting the Falkirk Wheel. Although the kitchen was closed (things still getting back to normal after lockdown) we decided to stay for a drink as the woman running the bar was so friendly and helpful, more than willing to describe alternative spots we could go to. She was very clear about the procedure regarding sanitising and social distancing and helpful throughout. Also, there's free parking.
