"After a long night and day's travel from the States, four of us met three German cousins for an early evening meal. We were seated in a small room near the kitchen and bar. A cousin ordered for us "alles auf der Speisekarte Vesper." The friendly English-speaking waitresses and chef kept bringing out plates of cheese, sausage, bread, and bowls of sausage salad, and cabbage. Great reasons for ordering and reordering more Bavarian beer. What a wonderful introduction to Bavaria! The Unterbraü is decorated in true Bavarian style, unlike many area restaurants that choose the cuter Alpine style. We returned here six nights later, along with four more German friends and relatives. We were seated in a large room and served by a casual, efficient waitress. Other tables were occupied by German families, including many Kinder. All eleven of us found our dinners to be well prepared."

We have been in this location one night on our bicycle trip over the “Jakobsweg” from Munich to Lindau. Very nice service. Good food. The room was silent. The beer very tasty.

We stopped by travelling to another location. The food was quickly served and absolutely delicious. Best food we had in a while. The waitress didn't talk much, but that might have been because of lack of English. View menu

We ate twice in the biergarten in July. We had a very good meal on both occasions, and we were impressed by the very good service and friendliness of the staff. English speaking staff made ordering easy. the beer was excellent. A buzzy place well worth going to.

This place was awesome. We had great traditional German food and drink. I had the greek salad that had so many olives and so much feta cheese on it that I thought I was not going to finish it. The variety is good on the menu. There is a locals table so you know it is frequented by the locals.

It has become difficult to find typical Bavarian restaurants (i.e. with the flavour gemütlich and a nice beergarden: The Unterbräu in Diessen has been modernized in the last years, but succeeded in keeping a lot of original atosphere. The fresh Renke fish caught in the Ammersee is highly recommended. But we also enjoyed the Wurstsalat, the huge Schnitzel portions etc. We regret that the old brewery Unterbräu does not exist any more. But there exists a pretty good replacement as is testified by e.g. English fellows who after their sailing lessons on the Ammersee discuss lively there. The König Ludwig Weissbier is ideal for strengthening the voices!
