"Visited for a mothers day weekend meal with family. Pre booked online which always handy, with a call back from the pub quickly to confirm. Nice atmosphere in the pub, busy but not loud and too crowded. Bar area does snacks and light meals and restaurant does sit down waitress served, more formal. Table not too close together and relaxed feeling. Good range of food, we had the special mothers day menu but there were several choices for each course. Bar not too pricey and nice staff. Would go there again if in the area and would recommend."

Very welcoming, staff could not do enough to make my visit enjoyable. Had a two course meal for £20, cannot beat it for value.

Although the restaurant was busy my reserved table was ready and the service was prompt. Food was served without any undue delay and was hot and most enjoyable. View menu

The food was good and the staff was very friendly, but the wait was too long. They offered us a round of complimentary drinks as a gesture to make up for the slow service.

Really nice food and a lovely pub. The advertised Sunday carvery/platter is so much more than a carvery and understated given the quality!! Whilst it doesn't compete for a cheap carvery it excels on quality. Worth visiting..

Hadn't been here for years but reviews were good so made last minute booking for 6. Menu had good variety service was excellent. Food arrived in good time with generous sized portions. Take note when the menu suggests to leave room for pudding...definitely worth it. Altogether a lovely relaxes lunch hope to return again soon View menu

I had a great visit during Christmas week. The atmosphere was wonderful, and despite how busy it was, the service was impressive. Our main courses arrived promptly, and although we had to wait a bit longer for dessert, it wasn't an issue. It allowed our stomachs to settle after the main course. Overall, it was a lovely experience!

The service was quite fast, and there was a good selection of drinks, including beer on tap. However, the food didn't meet my expectations. The sirloin was tough, and it was overcooked relative to the side dishes we ordered. The extra gravy was cold and there wasn't much of it. As for the Wagyu burger, it wasn't cooked properly either, but it seemed more like it was incorrectly prepared rather than just mine.

"Owner rude and arrogant! And you can’t trust them and they won’t make your order right by just saying too busy to make it right! I called in to make a booking but told no tables available but I could place an order for takeaway so I ordered two gluten free pizzas. I also asked what size are the gluten free pizza crust and was told 11”. I was told I would need to wait 1 hour 30 minutes and I agreed. I ordered the Gluten free 11 “ crust as advised for one Olive Tree and one Garlicky . When I arrived, I asked the person with the pizzas to confirm the gluten free pizzas. She looked a bit worried and said they were not gluten free. I asked the other girl if I would have to wait another 1.5 hrs and she said they would expedite my pizzas. The owner came over and said he had two vegan pizzas for 8:30 pm and I said that is not what I ordered. He said he was too busy to remake the pizzas. He said the girl that took the order said she didn’t remember gluten free was ordered. As a Celiac , those are the first words out of my mouth when I order any food and I also inquired the size of the gluten free crust and frequently they are pre-made and sealed and I was told they are 11”. He would not remake the pizzas as he said he has to trust his staff. So he implies the customer are lying and uses it as an excuse to not make it right. It doesn’t excuse not remaking the pizzas correctly as ordered gluten free as I was told a few minutes earlier. I assured him I ordered both pizzas gluten free and my wife came in and also confirmed as she heard me place the order on the phone. I realize this pizza must be well done and popular but not to remake the pizzas and imply me a liar and refusing to remake them is unprofessional. I find his behavior arrogant, rude and unprofessional and just because he went to Italy to learn how to make pizza doesn’t make him a good owner and manager. Hopefully, he won’t blow off this review but learn from it. Always make it right for your customers! And never insult your customers! It also suggest he doesn’t care about his customers because he is too busy. He walks away and just repeats he has to trust his employees. Poor excuse for not making the pizzas as ordered! Employees can make mistakes and as a Coeliac I will also double check as I did when I came to pick up the pizzas. I would advise Coeliacs to not try these pizzas as you can’t trust them to make them to your order. Peace be with you! Dietary restrictions You cannot trust this place to make your gluten free as ordered and they won’t remake it if they made it wrong and just say I have to trust my staff. Very Poor attitude from an owner and a bit arrogant! Customers don’t appear to be important and must be lying if they get an order wrong."
