"This is lovely place with lovely people but it lacks something. There are lots of little things that if they were put right would make it a great place. The food was lovely but expensive. We had the tasting menu which was well cooked. It had a good balance of textures but the portions were small even for a tasting menu. We ate early evening alone in the restaurant and we felt rushed in order that they could close. The breakfasts were excellent except that one morning we were served toast with mould running through it and sautéed potatoes were little bigger than a grain of rice. On the plus side the coffee was consistently good. Housekeeping wise there needs to be lot more attention to detail. Our luxury room was not. It was a badly fitted small room with large furniture so we kept bumping into the corner of the hardwood frame on the bed. The bathroom also had a grubby round the edges appearance. Screws were missing out of things here and there and the window frames needed a good wash. It seems that this restaurant with rooms is aiming at a high end market. With better management and attention to detail they should get there. An on-going regime of cleaning and maintenance together with more staff will undoubtedly help."

This restaurant always comes through with great service and delicious food, with a fun selection of gins to kick off the evening.

The 9-course tasting menu was excellent. The standout were the delicious desserts. The wine selection was impressive, and the friendly host helped us choose some great wines. It was a lovely and relaxed evening with friends in beautiful surroundings. We had a great time.

We had a voucher for a 6 course tasting menu. We enjoyed our meal but felt that the portions were small even for a tasting menu. We paid extra for a cheese course with a selection of 5 cheeses. There was plenty of cheese, biscuits and fruit. We felt the cheese course was good value and filled the gap that the small portions of the taster menu had left.

We booked the restaurant for a private party for 40 friends and family and had a wonderful experience The team were well organised and handled the service brilliantly. Drinks, canapés, 3 course lunch, coffee and petit fours all delicious and beautifully presented. Most of the guests hadn’t been here before and will definitely be coming back, Well done to the team, it was a fabulous day. View menu

Ate here with a friend on lunch time and the whole experience was lovely from start to finish. Had the option to sit on the waterside terrace but decided to stay inside, staff were really friendly and went the extra mile to make us comfortable. Food was excellent from start to finish. Found out from the chef that everything they serve is hand made. Had pork followed by jelly and doughnuts and left very happy.

Not everything can go well all of the time and what separates the good businesses from the bad ones is how clients are looked after when things don’t go to plan. Something wasn’t right last night (the detail doesn’t matter) and the way the manager looked after us as well beyond the call of duty. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a comfortable hotel with great food and exceptional service

My partner and I dined at the Wharf House on both Friday and Saturday evening during our stay. It was evident that the restaurant put a great deal of thought and effort into the preparation and presentation of their dishes. Everything we tried was of excellent quality. While the prices were a bit on the higher side, I believe the extra cost was worth it for the delicious meals we enjoyed. The only minor drawback we noticed was that the entrance path was not adequately lit, which could pose a challenge for wheelchair users arriving in the evening. View menu

We stayed here for two nights having booked in January. There were a few emails backwards and forwards before we arrived as there have been some changes it seems at the venue. The restaurant is actually fully closed but they do serve breakfast and there is a bar area but the hours it keeps are unclear. David who greeted us was a decent guy but he told that he was also leaving. The rooms are OK, but tired and a little old fashioned. We paid a lot of money for not a lot of service or facilities. The breakfast was good. Not sure what will happen to this place as it needs some serious help I think as it has losts its way. Some energy to tidy up outside would help and an investment program for th...

My wife and I stayed at The Wharf House Hotel for a long weekend, using it as a base to visit Gloucester where are children were signing in the Cathedral. The hotel is conveniently located outside of Gloucester close to the Over Bridge Roundabout and off the A40. There is a regular bus service (5min journey) into town or alternatively a 30 40 min walk along a country path into Gloucester Quay with all its shops and restaurants. We stayed in one of the luxury doubles with views over the River Severn. The room was well appointed and although it was warm during our stay the hotel provides fans for each room. The hotel prepares all its food fresh croissants, tea cakes, breakfast etc. To avoid th...
