"We were sent a text with the door codes for entry and everything went smoothly. The room was clean, although some areas could use a little upkeep, it was still functional. The tea tray was well stocked and the wi-fi, while a bit spotty at times, generally worked fine. The bed and pillows were comfortable. Breakfast was served in the downstairs tea room starting at 8:30. It was absolutely delicious, with juice, a choice of cereal, and hot dishes to choose from. My only suggestion is that the toast should be served on a separate side plate, as it tends to get soggy when served with the hot items. The staff member in the tea room was lovely, displaying both courtesy and efficiency."

Decent food, good sized portions and at a fair price. The staff were efficient, friendly and polite. Try the paninis which were a generous size! Recommended.

A great vegetarian choice at a very reasonable price. Dog friendly and has a doggie menu. My pooch had breakfast trimmings and now try’s to pull me into the door whenever I walk past!

My son and I went to this restaurant this morning for breakfast. The food was of top quality and the staff were friendly. It was the best breakfast in Leek and excellent value for money.

Visited on Saturday 5th March 2022. We were glad to find this place and enjoyed the eclectic and historic tea room. We were relaxed about our visit as time was not a pressure. We joked on entry after hearing a couple of items hitting the...

Only recently found this gem and I have since returned. The vegetarian choice is excellent and the whole place is spotlessly clean. An eclectic interior which is dog friendly. I was very surprised when I got the bill as it is amazing value.

Came here for lunch, cake was overpriced and couldn't taste the coffee in the cake or the chocolate. I felt the staff hanging over us like they wanted to go home. Good tea. Location ok but not near peak district, maybe ok if you staying in leek and want breakfast or snack

I stayed at this hidden gem for two nights last week. I found this place after a neighboring B&B couldn't accommodate me due to being full. I made a booking without knowing where I was going, but upon arrival, I was pleasantly surprised. The room was like a home away from home, equipped with all the amenities I needed and very comfortable. The breakfast, which was included, was of the finest quality. I had a very comfortable stay during my work trip and will definitely be going back again. I highly recommend this B&B or tea room as both were amazing, with very attentive staff. 5 stars all the way for me.

"Our room faced the front of the hotel, and while the village was quiet with only two pubs and a small corner store, it seemed to be a shortcut for heavy vehicles speeding downhill at night, with headlights constantly illuminating our room. We also found out that the hotel closes in the evening if it's not busy, and the front door may be locked as early as 10 PM, requiring a code for re-entry. The internet service was poor; even standing just outside the front door, I had no reception and couldn't call the emergency numbers posted there. It appears that the quality of the rooms varies significantly, with some having been upgraded while others are less desirable, including our own. When we questioned our bill because we didn't think the room was worth £140, we were told that since we had booked through Charming Escapes, we should take it up with them, as the hotel receives only a fraction of what we paid. This made us feel like second-class guests, especially since it seemed we were stuck in a low-quality room. The standard rate for a double room is £90, and if I were to rate our experience like on the TV show "Four in a Bed," I would say £50 a night would have been generous. Previous reviews also mentioned an issue with the door handle and the ability to lock the room, which had not been fixed. If you’re just looking for a place to dry off your hiking boots, this hotel might suffice, but I wouldn't recommend staying here again. It has a lot of potential, and thankfully, we had a wonderful evening at The Devonshire Arms just across the street—it felt like a whole different experience. It seems the staff at Charles Cotton have simply given up."
