"since the reopening we have been twice, and both of them were the personal attention and eating was amazing, although we are quite fussy. the building itself is beautiful and the love for detail is fantastic from glass to the various light fittings! nothing was too much annoyed, and we were advised what would not be too spicy. these were placed on the side for us to try and add when we liked them. service was efficient and friendly from anyone we met."

Fantastic vegan food in a lovely pub, with a vegan chef who clearly pushes the boat out on interesting menus.

The restaurant offers great options for both vegetarians and vegans. It’s a Joules pub known for its excellent cask ales.

They had 3 vegan options as mains, 2 starters and 2 desserts. Everything was pretty nice. We got the offer eat out help out so it was very good value for money.

Amazing food and amazing service, lots of choice for vegans and they were really helpful with my wife who needs to avoid garlic. We’ll be back to try more of the menu!

Great food and nice surroundings. The butternut squash starter with walnut pesto was particularly amazing. It was of the quality of a higher end restaurant. Nice to have a few different vegan options too.

They have recently finished renovating the interior and exterior, and the atmosphere is truly pleasant and relaxed. Although the menu has been simplified, there are still plenty of choices available. I ordered the tofu-style fish with triple-cooked chips (vegan), while my mother had the halloumi salad (vegetarian), and both dishes were excellent.

Thanks to the Happy Cow app we found this place. We were staying just up the road so very convenient for us. I was with a meat eater so we needed somewhere to accommodate us both and this ticked the boxes. They had about 2 starters, 2 mains and 2 dessert vegan options. I had the corn ribs, no fish fillet and chips and mushy peas. All was soooo good. Highly recommend.

I visited this restaurant for the first time and was pleasantly surprised by the variety of vegan options on the menu. We tried the pretzel with beer and the non-fish fillet, both of which were amazing. There was also a specials board featuring several options, including a vegan cheesecake that I can't wait to try. I feel like I must come back! I would give it 5 stars if I could.

I’ve been here a few times and each meal has been fantastic. This pub is really great at catering for vegans and their options are always exciting, no sign of a boring chickpea curry! Options change regularly but examples include: plant based burger, no chicken burger, no pork schnitzel, vegan fish and chips. They also always have at least one vegan dessert. I’ve had a pimms Eaton mess there and it was lovely. Their vegan ice cream is incredible!

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."

"Open since 1970 and located on Mardol, one of Shrewsbury’s oldest streets @thecurryhouseshrewsbury serves locally sourced ingredients married with traditional spices and chillies from the Indian subcontinent, a match made in heaven. 5 5 Recommended Price No better way to kick off proceedings but with popadoms, chutneys and fresh onion salad. On to appetisers and there are so many tempting dishes to choose with many of these exclusive to the curry house. Our first time trying Pani Puri. A sweet and spicy hot street food snack filled with chickpeas and tamarind sat on a bed of crunchy, nutty Bombay mix. With a building but pleasant heat, definitely something everyone should try. The quality and freshness of the seafood was exceptional. Spicy king prawns were huge and cooked to perfection. Charred on the outside for flavour but juicy and meaty. Trio of King scallops were beautifully tender and of a good size with sweetness from the tamarind liquor. Lamb rogan Josh tender lamb shoulder in a medium hot ginger tomato and onion sauce. A strong take on a traditional favourite of ours. Fresh from the Tandoor a generous mix of marinaded chicken, lamb, king prawns and a chargrilled lamb chop. The Tandoori deluxe massalla sauce was the perfect blend of sweetness melting into a subtle heat which brought the dish together perfectly. The curry house takes traditional dishes and flavours from the Indian subcontinent and elevates them to a level beyond expectations. Thank you for our invite to share the exciting menu created with passion and creativity.
