"I dined with friends last Friday evening. The pub has a lovely ambiance and the staff were very attentive. However, I was a bit disappointed with my meal. I found the chunky chips to be undercooked—I prefer them crispy and golden brown—and the portion of chicken was on the smaller side. On the other hand, my husband's fish and chips looked delightful, and he said he really enjoyed it. Overall, the price per person was around £30-40. Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4."

"Cost per person: £30–40 Cuisine: 2/5 Service: 1/5 Ambiance: 2/5" Overall, the dining experience fell short, with the food receiving a mediocre score of 2, poor service rated at 1, and an atmosphere that also left much to be desired with a score of 2.

The restaurant is always bustling, and the bar service is quick. The garden area is nice, and the beer is consistently good. However, I have a question about the music... Why does it always have to be playing? I can only listen to 'The Carpenters' so many times.

Food was great but service was shocking. Waited ages for drinks; food didn't arrive together accompanyments even later. Cocktails are awful must be bottled or on draft as taste nothing like they should. Ordered different drinks and were served an alternative as they'd run out! No discussion or option to change choice. Very disappointing as was one of the best pubs locally. Food: 5 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 3 View menu

This charming heritage pub boasts a fantastic kitchen that truly stands out. It's a favorite among locals, and for good reason. The dinner menu offers great value, with two courses priced around £13-15, and two courses are definitely sufficient! Each dish is served hot and beautifully presented. Make sure to book in advance and arrive with a hearty appetite. I can’t wait to return and try the delightful 'honey Charlotte' dessert!

The drink service was a bit slow, but the restaurant was busy at the time. The roast was delicious, although the potatoes had a slightly tough exterior. Unfortunately, the side vegetables were disappointing; they seemed like frozen mixed vegetables that had been microwaved, which was different from my previous visit. The price per person is around £20–30. Overall, I would rate the food a 4, the service a 4, and the atmosphere a 5.

"Great food as always, but… we came for a meal to celebrate a family birthday as we have done dozens of times over the years. This restaurant is a family favourite the food is absolutely amazing. However, last night at the point of paying the bill was split equally between 3 family members with each total being rounded up to a nice even number to add on the tip. The first 2 members paid exactly the same amount, but when it came to the 3rd member of the group who was sitting furthest away from the waiter taking the card payments, instead of charging the the same as he had done twice already, he added an extra £10 then held the terminal price towards himself so the last member had to just reach out make contact with the back of the machine to pay, without seeing the charge. It was only that a member of the group seated closer noticed at the last second that additional money had been added on as it was in very big, bright digits facing the waiter. The general feel at the time from all was that this did not feel like an accident. The last member of the group to pay was a more frail member of the party which we obviously feel was seen as an easier target for such a ‘mistake’. Only £10, but if you add this on a handful of times here there it certainly adds up. Also to add, Village Indiya is a restaurant with a really great reputation, we don’t think that this is something the restaurant would engage in, but clearly a ploy from an individual trying to make a few quid extra. We were left feeling disappointed. Keep an eye on your payments!"
