"Before writing I checked my notes with my wife. She reminded me that our dinner at the Wirtshaus was the best meal we had in Germany during our lazy meander from Baden Baden to Lubeck. Why? Our hotel heartily recommended Wirthaus and when we followed their advice we were not disappointed. Start with the setting. It was a lovely balmy summer evening; we were able to sit outside. When we arrived the restaurant was packed with locals. Some had already tucked into dinner, others were having beers and wine, laughing and talking. We had to wait inside until a table was freed and that gave us a chance to talk with Simon the owner. The restaurant site is old but he is the new owner with a new crew and new concepts. He has created a rich selection of Bavarian-Schleswig Holstein cuisine. Using fresh local ingredients, his young kitchen crew turns out remarkable fare. I chose a schweiner ruckensteak with extraordinary crisp fries. My wife chose weiner schnitzel with speck back kartoffelen and gurken salat. We could not believe the delicious giant size portions. As Simon the owner later explained, his clients like to eat. We protested; we also cleaned our plates. His open wine list is attractive and since I know little about German wines he invited me to taste before ordering. We started with a blaufrankish St. Laurent Trocken, followed by an excellent grauburgunder. Service was exceptional: present but discreet, we had time to savour and enjoy. Before we left we asked Simon where he wanted to take his restaurant and how he wants to be seen in the community. A big man with an easy smile, he is committed to exceptional quality and service. When the kitchen closes down for the night he makes sure that quality left overs go to a municipal service that feeds the less fortunate. He nodded, "We must help each other." Some day we will return to Lubeck with our family and our grandchildren and we will have dinner at Simon's and introduce them to an exceptional man so we can enjoy a remarkable meal. Wirthaus is also huge value for money. Please note this review does not do Simon's restaurant justice. They are better, much better, than what I have tried to share. Whitebeard83"

Very cosy place and friendly staff. The Apple punch rum is epic. They provide half pork knuckle. Suitable for girls or someone who has smaller appetite. View menu

Great experience and some great German classic food and very friendly and helpful staff. Cosy feeling and great atmosphere. Loads of space outside if weather allows.

The food had nothing to do with the good Bavarian cuisine. Ready, too hard and salty meat plants, and apparently after x-time warmed meat. That was nothing! Service very nice and friendly.

Wonderful gem a bit off the beaten path. Always good to find a place where the majority of the patrons are locals! Delicious food, cold beer, friendly service and everything at very reasonable prices. Certainly recommended! View menu

It could have been called a Bavarian inn in the cathedral. I almost betrayed everything about drinks and food. Since we were there last October, I would have expected a hint of beer in the menu. Missed! At the friendly and blinking waitress you simply order a meadow beer and after their question you mean the Oktoberfest beer? Beer is available in sizes 0.3 l, 0.5 l and 1.0l. But I should start at the Entré: a historical building with several rooms connected by steps, as well as a beer garden. Old elements (nine) were preserved during the reconstruction, while tables and benches were renewed in light wood. The kitchen was open. You go past the big vault to find a place. A waitress (all in the...

"short review: tasty, but small pizza, friendly service – and yet the evening did not run round! 3 stars with a lot of potential. it is Friday evening, best meal shortly after 19.30 clock, when we are in the la casa, an Italian restaurant in an old villa. sitting on only one of the 8 tables and as no service is to be seen, we sit on a table for two people and wait. and wait. time for a look in detail: slobby lighting, terracotta-colored walls, matching table runners, small tealights with flickering light on the tables, paintings (landscapes, still life, flowers near the walls, which are provided with price tags and offered for sale. then finally a very nice service appears that menus that have a lot to offer: antipasti, fish and meat, pizza and pasta, salad, desserts. the text is not as good as it can be seen, as first the lighting is weak and secondly the individual pages are stuck in labye clear envelopes, which unfortunately are all but clear. a decision is made quickly. I choose my body and magenta food, vegetarian pizza (9,50 € – here called pizza verdura – and in small pils (0,3 l to 2,70 €) and wait. in the meantime 40 minutes have passed since the pizza order, my dear hangs in the knees, I am impatient, the clock shows 20.30 and we are hungry! the guests who have appeared after us are now almost ready to eat while we are still waiting. how heart lut wants to stand up after need, the service appears, apologises with many beautiful words, they have overlooked the order form. After another 10 minutes we finally get our food. the pizza is a little small, but it is filled with fresh vegetables (brukkoli, paprika, wobbles, mushrooms, tomato). the floor is rough, there is nothing to complain. Finally we order espresso, very strong, very good at 2,50 € per piece. an eject of the order should certainly not happen, but can happen once. but if such a thing happens, it would be appropriate for me to offer an espresso or a grappa as a small repair, simply as a sign of apology, good will and generousness, especially because it was a time-intensive delay. the pizzas, although small, tasted good, the service was friendly, but that when entering the permanently empty restaurants went well for 5 minutes until an operation appeared on the picture surface, we felt as disturbing as the long wait for eating and then talking kinky. 3 stars, with ach and crow, more did not come together during this visit."
