We enjoyed the herring and onion sandwich, and the creamed herring as well. You can eat in or with outside seating to enjoy the colorful atmosphere of the Virtualienmarkt.

If you enjoy seafood - this is the place to go. Try their spaghetti vongole Bianco and the Soupe de poisson (soup). I never miss a meal in this place when I am in Muenchen - and I stay in in Namibia!!

I love the food here. It is very fresh.Warning: it is VERY crowded and busy here. If you want to come here during conventional lunch or dinner time, please make a reservation!The only thing that irritated me was the service. It was not bad but it is a bit chaotic due to the amount of customers.Definitely go again.

Mr. Witte my even serve you himself! He got us some amazing Loup de Mer last time we were here. I would say this in the #1 place for seafood in Munich Hands down. You can get whatever you need if you like to make seafood at home or grab a fresh plate of anything that comes from the sea for lunch. Its cool to watch the guys work behind the counter as well. Everything is super clean and very German.

Whilst sitting outside the bar opposite we spotted that this place was incredibly busy and it had outside heaters which they were allowed to turn on so when we spotted 2 vacant seats at an outside table we dashed over. We were last to be served on Xmas Eve and they'd run out of oysters but the fish soup we both had was enormous, as big, filling and tasty as a mixed fish grill. The Fish Witte offers really fresh and good fish, but for me the prices are to high. Why should I pay for Spaghetti Vongole over 18€? It is always full and the many people would not come if it would not be good and you can sit much nicer, than in other places on the Viktualienmarkt. But I have been here twice and it was good, but not so amazing, that I am willing to pay their prices. It depends want you prefer. The Fish Poseidon opposite offers the same quality for much better prices. But it has not the same atmosphere.

We had a delicious lunch here on an extremely busy and lovely sunny Saturday afternoon in early March. There was a huge queue for tables and also loads of people taking delicious seafood away to stand out in the Viktualmarkt and eat with a glass of white wine or beer. It was a very friendly scene. I had the seafood spaghetti, which was delicious and my friend had the sesame encrusted tuna, which was huge and he had to give a quarter of it to me. Lovely white wine complemented the meal. OK the place was packed, but the service was wonderful, the ladies buzzed around but managed to keep everyone happy. Excellent quality food, would definitely visit again.

So we we were not really hungry at dinner time. Some Germans we met a couple of days earlier HIGHLY recommended the Fish Soup at Fisch Witte in the Viktualmarkt. Place is unassuming. The family-run store has a 30+ year history in this open-air market. You can buy your fresh seafood and take it with you or have it in the inside(air conditioned) or outside.The soup comes in a huge bowl with a portion that was big enough for the two of us! It has a clear, yellow broth that is FULL of seafood from shrimp, to fish chunks, to mussels. It was really amazing. You get about a half a loaf of bread to go with it. Not cheap for soup though at 15 Euros a bowl. We'd go back again though.Word to the wise,... View menu
