"I'm confused by another reviewer's mention of Witwe Bolte being on a small alley - it is on the rather large Uhlandstrasse. Similarly it was suggested that Witwe Bolt is expensive - it's not. It is cozy, with dark wood paneling all about, and fairly basic in decor. Nothing fancy here. However if you order their house special chicken with special sauce you should not be disappointed. The chicken is fried - but comes so moist with such a light crisp coating you will find it hard to believe. It is nothing at all like the heavy breaded fried chicken you get in the American south or at, for example, KFC. It is served here with their "special sauce" which goes with it wonderfully well, and which we recognized immediately as Thai barbecue sauce. This is not a tourist restaurant, i think we were the only non-German speakers in the place. The sides are not the same world-class quality as the chicken, but acceptable. The same goes for the service."

Except the tasty roasted chicken you can enjoy many other plates. My best is "trinken teller". A little spicy but really nice. Hausgemacht (home-made) beer. VFM

We found this on our 1st night and we did enjoy our starters and main, and was too full for deserts.. The food was presented well and tasted lovely.. We enjoyed so much we went back again next night , different meal and tasted just as good.. Very reasonably priced, good measures on spirits.. Staff were very friendly place was very clean and cosy..

my sohn recommended this bar/restaurant to serve the best chicken and chips in berlin and with a series of excellent German beer. he wasn't wrong. half the chicken was boiled to perfection, as the accompanying French fries, the sweet chili sauce was ideal...for chip dimmers. I enjoyed the experience so much I came back a few days later. massive portioning.

The fun of any city is getting off the well-known tourist paths and discovering those places that create the character of a city. Witwe Bolte is one of those places. Unassuming, classic in design, relaxed in character but serving some of the best food you...would want to eat. Traditional German dishes, but also exceptional Italian dishes and a jerk-marinated chicken that is incredibly good. View menu

this is the second visit to berlin. Last year I ate in witwe bolte 3 times. in these years I had visited twice. the restaurant has a special spirit. Once they eat there, they can't eat at another place in berlin. it took 30 minutes to reach the restaurant, but it is worth it. they can sit inside or outside, the opposite is pretty. the food is delicious delicate. they must visit witewe botle.

this is somewhat outside the beaten stretch and is also cozy inside with a small outside area on the grounds. they specialize in half a hun and it is quite full to say the least. there are many courts to go. kartoffeln all descriptions, salad and sauce gentle chili is good. eating is a good quality cooking house style. we had a beautiful rose and others had the local beer in all a good experience for our group!

This is a really nice little restaurant serving big poertions of real German food at at very reasonable prices.I had the big skewer ( pork ) which was delicious. My fiend Neil had the crispy chicken which is basically a whole half of chicken deep fried ... this is there signature dish and is delicious and well worth a try.Beer is superb and all served the German way in branded glasses and is beautifully presented. This restaurant is a little gem and well worth a visit View menu

we have been waiting for our dishes for 30 minutes. the shinitzel consisted of fried pork with baked carrots. The latter was pretty good. the former had an undefined taste. his price is too high when you look at the amount and taste. I tried too. a bit boulette and they were really good. a friend of mine ordered huh with a spicy sauce. I added it on the scavenger and fortunately it started with a shadow of taste. the beer I tried was christian and it was good. I proposed.

We found this restaurant by luck on our first night, and liked it so much we also went for the next 3 nights. The food was very reasonably priced and of a high standard, with nothing on the menu over 10 Euro.I had a different choice each night, and had Chicken in a Paprika Sauce,Braised Beef,Home Made Burgers, and a home made Beef & Pork Loaf all with salad and fresh vegetables. The staff were very friendly, and even remembered what we had been drinking on previous nights. We would certainly return at a future date.It is outside Berlin City Centre, but is only 10 minutes on the U-Bahn from Brandenburg Gate.
