"zum paddenwirt is one of the oldest restaurants in the old district of Nikolaiviertel. This neighborhood, destroyed during the Second World War, was rebuilt by East German, to teach the beauty of the old Berliner. they make typical dishes of berlina, such as berliner leber or schlachteteller that cost between 8 and 12 euros. drinks are around 3 euros. You can try the bitter berliner beer schus that comes with raspberry syrup, accompanied by marinated herring steaks. There is a small terrace. since it is a very tourist district, you can touch a whole bus of tourists and the service will be slow in this case. It is better to call to book and meet the best time to get there. the restaurant preserves its old decoration, with wooden ceilings and period paintings. has about 15 euros for dinner, a little more with drinks, 4 euros for beer and 12 euros for bottle of wine."

I agree with you, the service of waiters, but in general in Berlin, it is pathetic, they are considered to be deconsiderate and very ill educated. They need a good push course. the best country in the world. View menu

Came across this restaurant while wandering around the location. I have to say it's in a lovely setting in which to have a meal. The food was lovely with a good size portions and the service was great. Would recommend seeking it out if you...are in the area

The place is located quite close to the Museum Island which is a good thing after a day of sightseeing. Lovely interior (old-worldly), many locals (always a good sign), an extensive menu with hearty German dishes, a good selection of wines and beers, v friendly staff... Not much more one could want.

There was a waiter and old man. I just asked whether they had a table and he lashed out at me do we seem to have a table available?, in an extremely angry way. Consequently, I answered that I wouldn't tolerate such behaviour and would...never spend a cent at that establishment. Don't go if you don't want to be bitten by the waitrer View menu

I was there this summer the charm of my neighborhood is very nice to walk through so streets and give it a breath after leaving the area of alexander platz. We decided to eat in zum paddenwirt on the terrace, there were not many people and it was very good, the only thing that the waiters are unkind and something strange, at least what they touched us and what we talked about in a perfect German I suppose they live

We stumbled on this pub on our first night in Berlin. The outside seemed old worldy which continued on entry to the establishment. We were promptly offered a friendly welcome and shown a table to sit at.The menu was fairly comprehensive and very much German cuisine. The food was reasonably priced and portions were ample. It was all presented excellently and tasted brilliant. If we were in Berlin for longer (3 nights) we would return.First class
