"We decided to eat here because the number choice in town was closed. We arrived, already having a booking inside. We wanted to sit outside while my partner had a cigarette. The waiter took it upon himself to cancel our table inside. When we...explained we just wanted to be outside for the smoking and come inside for the meal we were treated curtly. I'm not sure if there's some Bavarian custom about this but we felt offended. Once inside, the food was average; I had an Allgauer speciality and my partner, the turkey strips with noodles. The waiter tried to be civil later in our meal but the damage was done. Look elsewhere in town for dining out."

The restaurant is close to the ice rink, where the figure skating competition is held every year. The service is pretty fast, cozy atmosphere, decent Bavarian food

Service a bit slow, food was not restaurant level rather some bistro, smashed potatoes served with pork were awful, flamkuchen was just fine. Very good home made Apfelschoerle though

We had a good food here and the steak was beautiful and cooked well and the service was quick and we had a good night and it was only a stone's throw from our apartment also which was good.

A truly disappointing meal. They brought the wrong meal not what we ordered. The salads were watery and bland. The potatoes were undercooked. Staff pleasant. Food lousy. We left most uneaten.

I have been to Oberstdorf times however it was my first visit to Zur Alten Sennkueche last night and I was really impressed. The service was really good and the atmosphere of the restaurant was good. I went for the pork with red cabbage...and potato. The food was excellent, the best pork I’ve ever had! I highly recommend! For desert I had the spaghetti ice cream which was also very nice. We have been trying different Restaurants each night while in Oberstdorf. I think this would be at the top of our list, has an extensive variety of choices and the Waitress was able to help us choose something delicious. I ordered the sauerbraten and it was as good as my Mothers and she was an excellent cook. Friendly and good service. Very reasonably priced and nice atmosphere. Leave room for one of their ice cream deserts, you won't be sorry, even if you share with someone your with, outstanding!

"We loved our evening at Riegers. The service was spot on, really friendly and caring. The atmosphere was wonderful. Slightly modern still keeping the rustic charm befitting the town. We shared flammkuchen for entree....we LOVE flammkuchen so relished the chance! Perfectly crisp base, lovely topping, beautifully cooked and light as a feather. Main was venison for me and cooked to perfection with a lovely reduction sauce, perfectly cooked brussel sprouts and chewy parsnip. Seasonal, fresh and delicious. They served the noodles separately and I was happy for that as the dish didn't need it (in my opinion) the portion size was good as is. Portion sizes in Germany seem enormous! My husband had 200gms of rump steak cooked medium rare (you ask for it cooked "English" to get rare to medium rare in this part of Germany!). This dish was a bit of a let down for three simple reasons easy to correct. The steak was unrested so the blood drained onto the plate and mixed with the sauce to make for a pink look, not ideal. The mushroom sauce itself was just bland and needed a good dose of mushroom taste and acidity. The potatoes served with his dish were a bit oily and not very appetising. Just basic errors which I think were the result of a busy kitchen rather than an overall downfall in the cooking as my venison proved they know their stuff out back. So I would absolutely recommend Riegers. The wine list is small and very well priced, the staff really care and it's a great little restaurant we'd return to if we were staying longer."
