"I highly recommend visiting this restaurant! The staff is friendly, and the food is excellent with generous portions at very reasonable prices. If you're looking for home-cooked meals rather than pre-packaged options, this is the place to be! I had the meat lasagna, which was delightful, accompanied by garlic bread and a salad. My friend ordered the "drunken pot," and you could really tell that the meat was slow-cooked to perfection—so tender! It was served with mashed potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, and a sweet side. We had a fantastic time! This place is a must-visit for everyone!"

"Myself and my partner decided to give this restaurant a try on our way back from a day out as it’s really close to where we live. It was Sunday lunch and when we entered it was pretty quiet but looked nice enough. I must...admit we couldn’t help but notice a strange ambience almost as though we had walked into a private party. Anyway we quickly got drinks and received the Sunday menu without prices. My partner had the soup to start which was delicious, I had terrine which was ok at best and a bit measly. For main I ordered the chicken with a Yorkshire pudding and my partner had tomato linguine. From receiving this I just couldn’t wait to get home and make a decent meal. I literally could not distinguish a single item the meal was so incredibly bland it was unbelievable. The gravy basically consisted of warm water and fat. I cannot believe a golf club would serve frozen school dinner Vegetables! I am absolutely gob smacked. This place looks amazing and I would imagine the hotel is beautiful however I will not be risking it. The worst Sunday dinner I have ever had! To top it off the waitress took my barely touched plate (I ate the Yorkshire which was fine, one roast potato one slice of chicken) and never even enquired why I hadn’t touched it. £50 lighter to come home and start heating up a m&s dine in for 2! As for the pasta well if you consider pasta with a tin of chopped tomatoes and cheese on top a quality meal your in for a treat here! I visit lots of bad restaurants but feel leaving harsh reviews is sometimes unfair for the business owners, however I’m sorry to say this was a truly terrible meal. If your looking for Sunday lunch keep looking."

"We frequently visit this restaurant as a couple, as a family, with friends, or sometimes on our own, and we have never been disappointed. The prices are just right, the food is of high quality, and everything is served fresh and hot. Our personal favorites are the poached eggs with beans on white bloomer and the potato cakes with ham and cheese melt, or sometimes the homemade porridge - delicious! The tea and coffee are also great and served in various ways to suit your taste. I am puzzled by some of the negative reviews here, such as complaints about the lack of condiments on the tables and individual salt sachets. However, having individual salt sachets available is not a problem as they are always accessible. I have not encountered any rude behavior from the owner or staff at the tearoom. Thank you to Martyn, Jackie, and the whole team for their hard work and efforts in making the village tearoom a wonderful, affordable, and local spot for breakfast and lunch!"

"When we saw this place it looked like it would provide a top quality flawless meal. In reality almost everything was just ok. The food was OK, the service was OK at best, as it we waited quite for our food, and our sons food was 5 minutes after the rest of us got our food. Even the starter, a simple garlic bread took about 15 minutes to come. The setting was nice but the atmosphere was, again just OK. The pizzas are probably the better value for money when it comes to portion size as the Risotto and Lobster Ravioli could have definitely done to be a bit bigger. This was the most expensive family meal we've ever had and left feeling like we could have gone somewhere better for our money. The service charge was added to the bill without us being asked and I'm not rude enough to ask to remove it. And in any case, the only thing that was better than average were the young waitresses whom were polite, attentive and courteous. I sincerely hope my service charge goes to them as they deserve it the most. This is a nice place, dont get me wrong but I have been to better restaurants in this sort of price bracket in the past and have enjoyed them more. If the prices were lower I'd say we'd come back but I'm afraid we most likely won't return unless we get a good deal."

"excellent pub that I found near adlington station on my way to home after a long walk over winter hill by rivington then adlington. this was a Saturday midday just the end of the 2pm eating served I had scampi. chips, which at just over £4 was a good size portion, good quality pub eating an absolute bargain. I also had 2 drinks including an enterprise of award-winning dark mild I hardly spent £10 in total extremely good value. this is a good kneipe for craft beer lovers with around 8 10 craft beers that are available with information on a board. very friendly staff makes spinners arms also worth visiting if they like tradional art pubs. I'll go back when I get the chance."

"Price per person: £10–20 Food: 3/5 Service: 3/5 Atmosphere: 3/5 Parking: Ample parking available Parking options: Free parking lot The restaurant offers a decent experience overall. The prices are reasonable, ranging from £10 to £20 per person. The food quality is average, receiving a score of 3 out of 5. The service is similarly rated, indicating room for improvement. The atmosphere also scores a 3, suggesting a standard dining experience without any standout features. "Went here before the theatre as a fabulous burger place had moved we tried here. Had booked and arrived before time and entered and just stood whilst the older lady behind the bar barked at the younger server. I don 't expect immediate service, but a 'won 't be a minute ' is usually expected. Ordered food and it was mediocre at best. Dirty fries as a side far better than the food. Never asked once if we were happy with our meal. Which I thought was rude. In any event, didn 't have time to go elsewhere due to theatre timings. Overall, felt like we were a burden to staff, heard her being rude to a couple as they started to order food and she told them this was for a drink order. Wow! Never felt welcome, food as stated mediocre, wouldn 't return. Could be a nice little place with better staff and nicer food."

"The proprietors have made some good changes inside and out to increase the available seating space. I didn't eat this time but the cakes looked great though a bit pricey for me. The only disappointment was that the toilet facilities are still awful and not part of the Great House Barn. Probably not in the control of the cafe, I noticed that one of the staff members had to use the public toilets outside too, she still had her apron on . I would have expected by now that the cafe would have their own. Maybe more to do with Bolton council and heritage, not sure."

"We had a takeaway from Loy Kee's tonight. We have been here a few times in the past and have always praised it, but tonight was a different story. The food was all mushy, as if it had been reheated in the microwave. It seems like the restaurant may have changed hands since our last visit. We won't be going back after this terrible experience. We placed our order at 6:40 and they said it would be ready at 7:00, but it was clear that the food was not freshly cooked. It was a disappointment to say the least. We have been loyal customers for years, but after this experience, we won't be returning. It's a shame to see the quality go downhill like this. They have lost a valuable customer, and based on our experience, they will likely lose many more."

"Yesterday, my parents both visited the afternoon. they were both surprised by the size of the afternoon and said it was a great value and very tasty. my mother enjoyed the salmon and cream cheese sandwiches and the cake, while my father especially enjoyed the skorn. I chose the bark sandwiches with a partial salad and crumble, as I was not so hungry, but the portion size was again very generous. always enjoy coming here to taste the food, the cakes and the decorations and the personal are always welcoming. feels like they're back in time. we will return with my gran. Thank you."

".........calling in tired and hungry after a 10 hour shift, I was not impressed to learn that my order was given lower priority than those being done 'on-line '. After placing my order, I waited patiently with three others who arrived just after me, watching numerous random Just Eats orders being fulfilled. Then another woman arrived and placed a similar order to mine. After a further wait, a member of staff bought out my food and announced it. Just as I said 'that 's my order ', the woman smirked at me, accepted it and walked off. I expected the member of staff to back me up as she knew I 'd been waiting the longest, however this was not the case. Eventually, the woman 's order arrived and so I ended up with hers instead. How do I know they mixed us up? Coz when I got home I discovered we had got **** peas instead of the gravy I 'd ordered!! If Skippers are to continue with this method of service, may I respectfully suggest that they allocate a number or a name to each order so that there is no chance of a similar ****-up in future? I mean, heaven forbid that they mix up one of the precious on-line orders..... Not that it will affect me, as I won 't be bothering going back again."

"Awful food. Ordered steak and chips and could not believe the chef allowed the meal to be served. The chips were disgusting, overcooked, greasy and limp. The steak was extremely fatty and some mouthfuls were gristly and difficult to chew. I have posted a photo but only of the chips as the other half of my plate was full of chewed up pieces of steak and fat which I found difficult to swallow. I did complain and only received a £4.56 discount (my meal cost £22.50! Won't be returning again."

"I sat outside this lovely old pub on a sunny evening, with a pint of Blackedge Cascade and enjoyed every sip! Plenty of room in the carpark and great views from the outdoor drinking area. I was really looked after and greeted by bar staff, who were very friendly! 30 mins drive for me but we'll worth it, will call again and recommend!"

"Have never eaten here, but only ever heard positive feed back. Cousins birthday, I do not live in the area so rang to order some bottles of bubbles for the table. Only writing this as experience was very upsetting and I am still shocked. I spoke with a lady, explained cousin having birthday dinner (I did get name wrong that table was ordered under) so wanted to make sure was correct table. She said I was loud and shouting. I have a loud voice (nodules on voice box). But its also naturally loud as well. I do not raise my voice, it is not my style also my voice loud enough. It doesnt need raising. We finally worked out correct table, I then thought she had gone to get payment machine. But she just hung up. So I called back, another waitress answered. I explained previous call and again asked if I could pay over phone for bottles of bubbles. I was asked to wait a moment whilst she fetched the machine. Whilst I waited I had to listen to what herself and the first waitress were saying about me. Won 't lie, it was very upsetting and I 'm quite a tough cookie. Completely unnecessary and unprofessional as well as hurtful. When she came back on phone I politely told her I heard all their conversation, she went quiet and apologised then asked if still wanted the bubbles. I politely replied 'I don 't think so '. Not sure what to take away from this experience. At least cover phone or put on hold if your going to talk badly about someone who wishes to spend money whom you have never met............"

"We were a party of 8 the food was good, but 1 meal came out we waited a while before we said anything, so I asked the young server where the rest of the meals where ? She asked in the kitchen side it would be 5 mins, so 1 more meal came out we waited again, by the time the rest of the food came out in dribs drabs) the first person had finished their meal, to be fair they did offer us a free desert, but not good, I'd rather wait a little longer have all the food come out at the same time.. like I said the food was good."

"We visited this restaurant for the first time today, and we were not disappointed! The food was cooked to perfection, the service was fast, and the staff were friendly and efficient. The atmosphere was cozy, and the entire place was impeccably clean. Plus, there is convenient parking and a wheelchair-accessible entrance. The Christmas decorations looked fantastic as well! This restaurant is a testament to a great team. Don’t hesitate to visit; there’s a wide selection of food and drinks on the menu at very reasonable prices! We will definitely be back! The hours are from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM during the week and from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM on weekends."

"After months of not eating out it was lovely to visit Top Lock for some lunch. We chose from the lunch menu and both had a ciabatta with firs I had the Mariner which was various pieces of fish, and the husband had steak. It was delicious. The only thing I could 'finf fault ' with was the quiet there was music playing in the background but it was so faint we couldn 't hear it. And as there weren 't lots of people eating, I felt awkward as the two people at the table next to us could hear every word we said, as we could them. It just made the whole experience 'awkward ' on what would otherwise have been a much better lunch!"
