"Happened upon this little gem of a cafe. Totally blew us away from the moment we walked in. Excellent attentive staff were quick to seat us and explain the menus laid out on the table. Drinks order was quickly served, then food followed smartly. The food was outstanding, beautifully balanced flavours and plenty of it. The bill was surprisingly reasonable too, £19 for two lunches and tow coffees. Our only regret was that we were too full to sample the puddings... Oh well, we'll just have to visit again. Can't recommend highly enough."

"Visited evening 21st March, very quiet. Was very impressed with decor as it’s been a few years since I last visited. My food was really nice in fact everyone’s was , didn’t see anyone have anything from the carvery. The service was disappointing, maybe due to there only being a couple of staff. We ordered a main and a dessert but had to go to the bar to ask for our pud to be brought out. As my friend approached the bar the staff member initially turned away from us even though there was no one else at the bar. We also saw other customers waiting to be served at the bar. Overall we had a lovely evening and enjoyed our food. I would visit again but it wouldn’t be on my go to list."

"This restaurant is like a smaller version of Spoons. The service was excellent - the lady was very friendly. The drinks were perfect and the food was great. I have no complaints at all, so I will definitely be returning when I am in the area."

"what can I say about the malthouse farm, this is the second time that I myself and my man stayed in the hotel and used the pub for meal and drinks. the staff is friendly and helpful, there is a lot of choice for eating, which will eat to perfection and abundantly cooked. the selection of drinks is also very diverse. the outside area is clean and very nice. many thanks once again for a nice weekend that is spent with them, we will be back."

"The cafe gets a lot of negative reviews which to some extent I understand. We had coffee and a bacon roll here this morning and, whilst the place could improve it’s by no means bad the coffee and food we had was in fact very good and the service friendly. The COVID 19 procedures result in slow movement through the queue especially if customers don’t have the app; that said a simple organisational change could improve things, there simply aren’t sufficient staff to cook, take orders, deliver food and clear& clean tables it wasn’t busy when we were there but delays could build up up especially when staff tried to process a discount vouchers in part payment..... if your going to promote the cafe make sure staff understand the process."

"Don’t bother. Certainly don’t bother calling on the phone. Three times now in separate weeks at separate times the phone gets picked up and they simply put it down without even speaking. Very rude and ignorant and not a way to run a business as some day you may not be as popular and busy, or at least that’s what I am assuming! Manners cost nothing. You can’t order via online so other driving there you have to call the shop, so as this is the biggest part of your only contact with orders and the public then get your ship in order and have some manners. Your pizzas are not that special. Terrible service."

"Had a lovely lunch at Cafe Ambio today sitting outside in the sun . I'd like to say a BIG THANK YOU to the staff for helping me. I was concerned when my meal would be arriving due to me being a diabetic and my sugar level was going low. The guy who gave me the full sugar cola (which I didn't need in the end) to help me was a star. Thank you again. Lovely staff, great food, relaxing atmosphere."

"On Thursday night, we discovered that they had run out of draft lager. There was no alcohol-free beer available, despite it being listed on the menu. Our party of seven was the only group present, which was surprising given that this was the last Thursday before December – we thought the holiday season would have brought in more customers. The room was quite cold, and even the chef was wearing a coat! The pizzas weren't served warm, and the pork loin was very dry. Unfortunately, we won't be returning. To the owner: yes, you did have draft lager, but after we ordered five pints, you had run out and could only offer bottled beer. This is quite disappointing for a Thursday night leading up to Christmas."

"This restaurant is fantastic! The food is outstanding and reasonably priced. We received great service throughout our meal, and the ambiance is very pleasant. The only downside was a large group of noisy children, which slightly detracted from the atmosphere, but that can happen anywhere. I've dined in and also ordered takeout, and the quality of the food has consistently been excellent. It's definitely worth a visit—you won't be disappointed. I will definitely be coming back! Service: Dine in."

"The Yarrow Valley park has free parking and it's available for several dozens of spaces. If you walk to or from this park, please take care of the steeper hill on the Birkacre road. I slipped and fell on this road. Even with walking boots. The leafs, rain, the hill slope and smooth tarmac made this accident occur. In this park building is a loo too. This cafe is a nice treat after or before your walk within the grounds of the Yarrow Valley park. The cafe is compact and has a low limit of how many punters it could handle. It can open after 10.30 in winter times. Usually sooner when warmer seasons. I can treat myself to buy an ice-cream in the warm weather. In the colder times I can treat myself occasionally with a scone with cream and jam and a mug of tea. This scone and tea is £3 cheaper than the equivalent in Astley Park Ambio cafe."

"Located inside the Old Corn Mill Antiques Centre, the Vintage Tea Room is spotlessly clean, but has a simple and plain aesthetic that is reminiscent of a cafeteria. The presentation of the food could use some refinement. Our bacon sandwiches were generously filled with delicious and perfectly cooked bacon, though the bread slices were a bit thick for our liking. Despite being fresh and tasty, the bread overpowered the filling. We had to ask for a paper napkin and cutlery and sauces were offered only upon request. It was somewhat unappealing to see the chef, dressed in casual clothes, casually walking around outside with a tea towel over his shoulder. The staff members were friendly and helpful, the menu was diverse and interesting for a small establishment, and we believe that other dishes would be as well-prepared and flavorful as our bacon sandwiches. Paying a bit more attention to detail would greatly enhance the overall experience. The coffee was also quite good."

"Last minute Sunday night decision to have a chinese take away, and returned to an old favourite after a few months without visiting. The food was just great, couldn't fault it at all. Our eyes were certainly bigger than our bellies but we just fancied a few bits. Dim sum combo to start was just nice to share. For mains I had crispy chicken in kung po which was delicious. Nice and spicy just right. The mrs had chicken in pineapple sauce which was lovely too. Egg fried rice and salt and pepper chips on the side ended a belly busting meal. Lovely as always thanks very much."

"My wife and I were fortunate enough to spend an afternoon and evening at The Lord Nelson after travelling down from the Lake District. The building is over 350 years old and has so much character. The pub is so welcoming and there is a...wonderful family atmosphere with dogs particularly welcome. We enjoyed an amazing Sunday lunch of perfectly cooked roast beef, rich buttery mashed potatoes, Yorkshire puddings and fresh vegetables, covered by a rich gravy. It was the best Sunday roast I can remember. Later in the early evening we were able to share a drink and chat with Harry, the exec chef and Sasha who effortlessly manages the bar and front of house. We also shared one of Harry’s fantastic garlic bread pizzas with masses of mozzarella. What a great way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon and evening. Thank you Harry and Sasha for a wonderful time and we will definitely try and visit again when we are in the area."

"This time our visit was much more successful thanks to Dave our friendly waiter. Other we booked and arrived on time once again I got a text to say we had not arrived, this happens too many times with Open Table and there should be a mechanism to respond to say we are on site and for Open Table to chase the venue"

"Visited here a few times and everytime has been amazing, never disappointed with the service or the food. The staff are very friendly and ensured our visits where always enjoyable and the food is always served hot and fresh with gorgeous flavours and great value for money. My steak was cooked to perfection and the garlic prawns with the bread are lovely. Even took my niece here for a family meal and the chef happily accommodated for her to also eat with us and she throughly enjoyed it too! The staff are Very child friendly! I highly recommend this little tapas! Perfect for a nice lunch or a great meet up with friends on a Saturday night with an amazing guitarist to listen to in the background which made the atmosphere even more like we were in Spain! Will definitely be returning very soon! Thankyou"

"I visited this restaurant with friends for the first time in a couple of years on a Wednesday evening. The staff were friendly and the newly refurbished soft furnishings blended in nicely. We took advantage of the 3 courses for £10 offer, which we found to be incredibly good value. The portions were generous and the quality of the food was impressive. It's hard to believe they can maintain this offer at such a low price! The only issue we had was with the background music, which we found to be intrusive and tinny, not matching the cozy atmosphere of the old inn."

"The staff, Danni and James, were excellent but the method of selecting a gluten free meal was difficult using the waitresses tablet and caused a delay to everyone's meal. A laminated menu would have been preferred. The manager was very sympathetic when I expressed my concerns on leaving the restaurant after our delicious meals."
