"Absolutely delicious! We went to this restaurant last night as part of our visit to Deal and were really pleased with our choice. The place is very uniquely designed and made us feel like stepping into a whole new world; staff were friendly and welcoming and the food was super we had the Bangkok delight platter for starters then some sweet sour chicken and chicken with cashew plus coconut jasmine rice. Everything tasted fresh and had this homemade authentic feel to it. We also ended up getting some coconut roll and pandan cake for takeaway and had it as a delicious breakfast the following morning. Would recommend!!! Wish we had found it earlier so we could have gone every day of our trip"

"Came in for dinner and drinks this Sunday evening with friends, really nice pub and nice atmosphere! Was a fun evening and we were informed of the new addition of the dart board and also had a go at the charity game balancing a a lemon! Friendly welcoming staff and nice food! Said I would leave a review and thanks to Tommy, Lauren and chef Joe for a nice Sunday evening!"

"The food is incredible! I had been to Turkey before, and I can confidently say that this is the best I’ve ever had! The meat is well-marinated, incredibly tender, and juicy. The sauce is outstanding! The waiter was very friendly, and the chef even came out to greet us with warm smiles. I will definitely be back in the near future. Thank you so much for the amazing food!"

"A nice village pub with a good food menu. We were seated at a table in view of the entire restaurant and bar; at times it felt uncomfortable as people from the bar could watch us eating. We were also the only ones seated at this time. 3 other tables arrived shortly after. The food was brilliant, as expected from The Pickled Egg chain. I had the scotch egg starter, which I could have eaten twice! And the skewers main, which was presented beautifully, was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. Dessert was okay apricot frangipan. The casing was over cooked and the apricot puree was too much. Enjoyed the restaurant and the meal, reasonably priced, parking outside, good service. No complaints."

"We have now enjoyed a Sunday lunch, which was really good quality food, in a lively setting, we even had background music! Only slight criticism was the tables were a bit close to each other but we were a party of 10, the que for food was also a bit disconcerting as there was a constant flow of people brushing against our seats. The two occasions we have had afternoon tea we thoroughly enjoyed the food. The first time we were given a cup of coffee the second time we were given a pot and were told we could ask for a refill. We have also been to a themed night {Indian} the food was to the normal high standard but again we felt hemmed in and due to our table position were unable to see the dancers, who did not perform for very long. Overall really good food but a bit crowded for Sunday lunch and themed nights."

"In the evening pampered by a waitress with attitude: a brutal art. she was rude with her remarks that were even noticed by neighboring tables. 2. to last night b4 lock, so that several dings must be ordered as not available. the red drinkers were happy with their wine. the white wee we wanted was not available, so we had problems with several diff preferences to find one to all tastes, so eventually went for the house Sauvignon/Semillon, which was not great. Understanding to be on some things at this point probably low, but waitress was pushy and impatient. think they have been stressed by everything they do not put on the customers! I was a waitress and I'm not sure if she was properly trained to talk to customers. she hadn't come over her b4. they call us with a decreasing ton as if we were little children. I have a great experience at 81 and you eat is usually very good and the staff is beautiful. their Sunday dinners are delicious. there were six of us and only three had appetizers that were nice. 4 had burgers who were dry and a bit flabby. great chips. the other net parts were good, but not up to the usual standard. we hoped for a funny sociable eve b4 lock off at a place we all know well, but sad it was marred and we came to think away “what a strange evening”."

"Date night with the wife. Food was exceptional, recommend the brie starter. The little mini loafs of bread was a cute touch. We decided after seeing the sea food share plater to have that between us as a main. The food was amazing, the taste was incredible. The rub...... It's so not worth the money. There was enough on the plater for one as a main. Very expensive for what you get. Which is a massive shame. As with most things, what you see online is not what you get. The big mac effect. If you don't mind paying a lot of money for not a lot, it's very tasty. We had beautiful sea views due to sitting upstairs. As much as downstairs looks lovely inside, upstairs gives you the sea view. Service was amazing. Everyone had service with a smile. Suggestions worked out. Thank you!"

"Had breakfast at the The Plough Beefeater, just outside of Dover. Massive improvement in service compared to my last visit in 2020, when service was incredibly slow and there was a poor attitude to customers from both managers and most staff. On my recent visit the food was served in a reasonable time and there is a marked, positive, difference in staff attitude. Would now recommend."

"We waited 30 ish minutes for drinks and over an hour for food! Was told we were lying because of the food ticket (however we knew this to be untrue because our parking ran out). The one and only waitress apologised every time she brought over something and we initially sympathised because we understood hospitality can stressful and the only help was two very young girls who seemed very new. The food was delicious as always but was disappointed with the service. When receiving the bill which was full price I said to one of the young girls “I’m not being awkward but I’m not happy to pay full price can we speak to someone”. The manager stormed over shouting at us claiming that if we didn’t pay it would be theft and they’d call the police. The owner came over and said we’d been fed in an hour and that we had nothing to complain about because it was busy. There was multiple tables empty just poor management."

"Overlooking the River Stour and the 14th century Barbican the Bell Hotel is ideally placed to welcome visitors to this historic Cinque Ports town.Arriving on a very busy Easter Saturday with lunch in mind the family had a brief look at various other options before eventually choosing the Bell. At a glance we decided to eat outside then alternatively in the immediate bar area, but after being told they first needed to clear the tables and that there would be a 30 35 minutes wait for food my immediate inclination was to look elsewhere. However, after making a quick reconnaissance and further inquiries a lovely window table was found on the upper level which offered a full waiter service. Settling down into our comfortable seats we placed our order for starters of carrot and coriander soup, courgette sweetcorn fritters and salt and pepper squid. To follow, the main courses were grilled mackerel accompanied by new potato salad and veal escalope.Although one of our party expressed a reservation over the mackerel dressing the overall rating was very favourable in terms of cooking, taste, portion sizes, presentation and service. In my own case my crispy coated escalope of veal with sauteed new potatoes and green beans finished with a buttery caper sauce exceeded my expectations. Only one diner felt able to manage a dessert a pear tart tatin and Cornish cream ice cream. For drinks we chose Gordons pink gin and lemonade, Fevertree tonic water and two glasses of the excellent Runnymede Sauvignon Blanc (Marlborough N.Z).A very enjoyable lunch in a comfortable and unhurried environment away from the hectic downstairs atmosphere and compared to other nearby establishments at a competitive price. As one would expect the facilities matched the cleanliness of our immediate surroundings."

"We visited Dover Marine Hotel yesterday 16th December 2023 for a Christmas lunch. We have visited many times with family for coffees at this Hotel, but never for lunch, so we had no expectations. From the moment we arrived we were treated with courtesy and attentiveness . We were taken to our table which was a lovely crescent shaped banquette and seated. We had a wait of half an hour for our meal in which time we were given fresh French bread, plenty of water and our specified wine and drinks. Our orders taken we were able to take in the atmosphere which was tastefully decorated in the English Christmas tradition with lit Xmas trees. Our starters salmon and peppers and mozzarella were light, finely prepared and the Game Pie was very filling all were delicious. The mains were all traditional roast Turkey which lay almost regally across our plates with its courtiers of Brussel sprouts, carrots, French beans, pigs in blankets and stuffing. Finishing with a home made brownie, superb ice cream and a Dickensian plum pudding. Coffee was offered but declined . Our extended family live abroad so we have made it a yearly event to celebrate with them in spirit at various local eateries and restaurants We all agreed that this lunch was the best not only for its excellent cuisine, but most importantly for its wonderful service. All the staff in the restaurant and throughout the Hotel were impeccable in their manner, in particular our two waiters Paolo was one who served us and nothing was too much trouble. We wish to commend the whole experience."

"obviously the shutdown has influenced the pub trading. this is a nice well maintained pub. great beer. menu is very pedestrian and hard on processed items very disappointing), but our meals were ok and cheap. “Everything on the menu, except we don’t have...white brot. but they can have a baguette,” said the barman. White brot is the easiest thing to keep on camp. Perhaps the freeze cabinet is full of the processed objects? seems like there are no baguettes, either as the meal that was accompanied by one, with two crusty "back to house" (long living -processed (sudder rolls) best to get their terminology right to avoid disappointing their guests. Oh, and yes, I was shocked to see the barman with his Vape machine, while behind the bar and also several times! (I haven't been watching all the time - was friends with whom I'm getting up.) I'm pretty sure the guests can't do that? brutto"

"We are locals but the first time eating here. Typical pub, a little run down and tired decor. Sticky table, my arms at the elbows were sticky after. Yuck. We had the “fleur burgers” with chips. They were nothing to write home about. A good amount of meat, but cheap tasting and gristly. The chips were underdone and mealy. For dessert we shared a strawberry shortcake, again, cheaply made of two hard shortbread biscuits with runny cream in between and a total of about 4 strawberries on top. Hard to eat with a fork, all the cream just squeezed out. Would have preferred the scone-like version of shortcake version as that would feel more like a dessert, and certainly for the middle to have some strawberries . It was just a few biscuits with cream, not worth the £5. Overall, we came away disappointed at spending £50 on two average, if not poor, meals. There are definitely better places to eat in sandwich. Always happy to eat at Namaste or The Bell (similar food, similar price, much better quality and feels a treat). Won’t be eating here again."

"We came in after my daughter’s appointment as a treat. Staff were friendly and welcoming, food was quite quick and tasty, son enjoyed the play area whilst waiting for the food (which really helps as he is autistic and struggles to sit patiently), and I received blue light card discount which was a bonus so close to Christmas! Will definitely come again, and have already recommended the Rock Rose to friends and family! Parking: Has its own large car park. A few disabled spaces close to the entrance we didn’t need to use, but did notice them. Kid-friendliness: Has kids play area, ideal for smaller children, not for older children. Up to 8 years old maybe? Wheelchair accessibility: Did not need accessibility, but it is all on one level and would be completely wheelchair accessible (in my opinion)."

"Visited on a Tuesday evening to celebrate a birthday . Waiter seemed a little sullen when we first arrived but soon warmed to us and very soon became the perfect waiter , even to the extent of offering to tone down a rather hot Naga curry my sister had ordered . Brought out a rather toned down creamy curry with extra chunks of chicken . Food was pretty good and plentiful, full of flavour and big chunks of meat . Naans were delicious fresh , as was the rest of the food . Manager seemed genuinely dismayed that one member of our party couldn’t enjoy her curry as was too spicy , but not the restaurants fault . Reasonably priced and even left with 4 cartons of food due to generous portions. Will definitely return when back in Temple Ewell ."

"Loving the eclectic style and vibe. The cooper whisperer Lady that spoilt our pooch . Very friendly experienced chatty staff. Definitely an experience of a gastro pub lunch. Roast had super depth of flavours, not much meat small little slices of perfect cooked beef. Think our food went to another table they didn't order pigs in blankets) hence 4 stars also was a tad on the expensive side for a roast. The entry level red and white wine, vin du pay herault where good value and tasty £24. Ps roast has gone up £10 quid since last year . £55 quid per head. But as you know fuel food wages have all increased. Makes hospitality tough."

"I am reluctant to write negative food reviews, but my recent experience of The Royal Hotel was very disappointing and I make this review in the hope the management will see what was not great and perhaps change it. I have been a regular customer of the hotel for many years, as guest, drinker and diner….and for various reasons have not visited for about a year. The last occasion being a breakfast, which was great…. Not cheap, but good quality, well cooked and very tasty. Fancying a treat my wife and I dropped by for breakfast at 1045….. breakfast being served until 11…. The fact it was near to 11 seemed to be a problem when we were told that unless we got the order in very quickly, we would miss out. I had the full breakfast at £11.00 and to be honest was probably the worst cooked breakfast I have had for ages . The main problem was the bacon…..more fat than meat and undercooked, with large sections of the fat only having had a passing acquaintance with the heat. The sausage which appeared to have cooked through had very little colour and did not look at all appetising. The remainder of the meal was okay. My wife wanting a small breakfast was left with very little choice but to have a breakfast bap as there was no facility to order a smaller ‘Full English’ breakfast on the menu. The bap had the same issue with the bacon and the sausage and was presented as a hamburger…..not ideal from our perspective. Why can’t a smaller version of the full breakfast be offered? I have been a regular user of The Royal as it is a great location with friendly staff…but the fare that was offered to my wife and I today was not even close to what we would expect from it."

"We booked this meal for wedding anniversary and booked it 3 weeks ago. We left our phone number with them. We arrived to the restaurant only to see it has changed hands !!!!!!! It is now an Italian named Bella Vita . We wanted an evening meal and had already picked out what we were going to have from the menu only to see its now an Italian., We stayed there to try it but come away VERY disappointed !! My started was garlic and chilli prawns, there was 5 mid size prawns in an oil with chilli and garlic. NO bread or anything to go with it. The wife had the antipasta board ! ok there were some cheese and meats but nothing to write home about and once again NO bread . Both had the linguine with prawns and again NO bread. The wife had a Pims and I had a pint of shandy and the bill was just short of £90. Sorry but until they sort themselves out we will not be going back. ps, no one bothered to text or talk to us to inform us they had changed hands so we were very dissapointed with that as well."

"Had a brilliant Friday night here. Arrived 6:45 pm for a amazing meal from there Caribbean menu (soul kitchen) and ended up leaving at 12:30am! The young lady behind the bar lea was amazing! She basically served all night at a packed bar as the other team member took table orders and delivered the dishes from the kitchen. Live Music plays here Friday-Sunday plus karaoke on Thursday's. Average drink prices here for Deal. Great location and the biggest outside shared seating area in deal. Foods typical pub grub and there can be a bit of a wait for food as it can get very busy, especially on a Sunday as there's live music in the square right next to it that start 3pm every summer Sunday (weather permitting). Also theres live music inside on the evening and karaoke on a Saturday night. Not the cheapest drinks in deal but great for drinking in the sun on the seafront."
