"obviously the shutdown has influenced the pub trading. this is a nice well maintained pub. great beer. menu is very pedestrian and hard on processed items very disappointing), but our meals were ok and cheap. “Everything on the menu, except we don’t have...white brot. but they can have a baguette,” said the barman. White brot is the easiest thing to keep on camp. Perhaps the freeze cabinet is full of the processed objects? seems like there are no baguettes, either as the meal that was accompanied by one, with two crusty "back to house" (long living -processed (sudder rolls) best to get their terminology right to avoid disappointing their guests. Oh, and yes, I was shocked to see the barman with his Vape machine, while behind the bar and also several times! (I haven't been watching all the time - was friends with whom I'm getting up.) I'm pretty sure the guests can't do that? brutto"

Very disappointed after seeing trip advisor reviews We ordered ham egg and chips a simple dish that shouldn’t go wrong. Frozen chips just cooked Ham was thin and wet looking And the eggs were yellow yolks. It doesn’t cost an earth and a leg to...get nice fresh eggs and nice thick cut local ham.

I stumbled upon this hidden gem and was impressed with the excellent food at this restaurant. The breakfast options were superb with a lot of variety. The locals were friendly and the pub is situated in a great location. The mussels were cooked perfectly. My only suggestion would be to have a fan in the room for added comfort. The rooms were a decent size for a one night stay.

Lovely, quirky pub in the back of beyond. Friendly, helpful staff, lovely food and very reasonably priced. Room was clean and had everything needed and the bed was very comfortable. It did get hot when the heating came on, but this was resolved by turning...the radiator down and opening the window a little. The size and style of the room was in keeping with the age of the building. Awesome cooked breakfast. We will definitely go back again. View menu

Through hearing about the black pig from a friend, we knew we had to come and try out the food, and everything was exactly as promised. From the food itself through to the service everything was excellent, the front of house staff were incredibly attentive...and the food was a delight (you have to try the cod and chips). This was our first visit to the Black Pig and it will by no means be our last. A beautiful pub, a wonderful atmosphere and an incredible experience.

Quirky friendly pub hotel in a quiet location let down by poor standards throughout from the overgrown car park , overflowing large ashtray at the front door to the uncomfortable beds , mouldy bathroom , lack of dressing table and mirror and meals from...a bygone era. Certainly not worth the money which is a shame as with some attention to detail , quality meals and overall standards it could be a winner. Suggest the owner gets out and stays looks at the competition.

We arrived at the restaurant late for lunch, but it was no issue when we inquired if they would still serve us food. The menu offered exactly what we were craving - simple, well-cooked bar food with amazing chips. The service was outstanding, with very polite and helpful bar staff. We highly recommend this pub and will definitely be returning, despite the long drive from Tunbridge Wells. It offers great value all around. As other reviews have mentioned, this place is a hidden gem! View menu

The pub is very attractive both inside and outside, feeling cozy and comfortable. We had a lovely view of the garden with good seating from our window. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. There is good parking available and a small village store attached. The menu offered basic pub food, which we found to be quite enjoyable. We ordered burgers with chips, made with high-quality meat and cooked to perfection. The chips were of a frozen variety but were still well-cooked. The homemade coleslaw was a nice addition. Overall, we had a pleasant dining experience, with my friend especially enjoying her dessert.

we had a bad meal before, but we heard that the menu had changed, so it tried again. dont bother ordered a baguette with halloumi salsa and guacamole and never in my life I have seen light green slime guacamole smeared over the baguette and watery tomato. for salsa. the salsa and guacamole was clear cheap shop I brought it back to the bar of the chef came out and the excuse was “it was not homemade on the menu” there is no excuse that a chef could not make fresh salsa and guacamole. never comes back here. so many friends and family have come here and had exactly the same in terms of cheap fried food. the pub is beautiful. but eating is terrible.
