"Myself and 5 family/friends along with two small babies decided to pop into the Saltwells Inn after a walk from home through the nature reserve with our dog. It had turned out a lovely summers afternoon and we went into the beer garden to enjoy...the sunshine. I forget how big the pub is and was pleasantly surprised at how clean and tidy the pub was. There were two people serving behind the bar a young lad and an older man who looked like a manager they were both working hard and the bar was clean and tidy and fully stocked. We had a Pepsi and pint of cider and 4 gin and tonics which came to 33 not bad going at all for 4 double gins the selection was good and they were served in gin glasses with plenty of ice. I also asked for water for the dog and they happily obliged. We decided to order food as we were all peckish as it was around 1:30 when we visited. We werent expecting amazing food as the pub is off the beaten track and Im guessing trade depends on the weather and people knowing the pub is there as it isnt on the main road. We had two jacket potatos with beans and cheese 4 odd each) two baps with salad and chips, one prawn and one ham and cheese. A pasta bake with garlic bread and a Caribbean hunters chicken. The food arrived promptly served by a lovely young lady who didnt look 18 yet but was polite and seemed to be taking out the meals and cleaning the floor on her own. The food was basic but tasty. All of our plates were emptied and everybody enjoyed what they had. You do get what you pay for so we werent expecting amazing 5 star cuisine but what we did have was decent and filled a gap for sure, the chips were no doubt frozen as would be expected in a place with irregular trade as were some elements of the other meals but this doesnt make it bad. We also purchased a carvery for the dog, 4.50 I believe it was. We had our own bowl with us so transferred it into here for him. He had two slices of gammon and two slices of what looked like pulled beef. We did try both and despite the beef looking rather dry and poor on the carvery itself both were prettt decent. The roast potatoes were only cheap frozen ones I think and the veg was basic and not the freshest but for the price it was more than ok. Even though we brought it for the dog we would have been happy enough to eat it For the price. For 19 we had 4 meals and I had a pint of Pepsi aswell, if that isnt value I dont know what is! The ham and prawn bap we had was again served on a frozen roll (thawed of course for our meal) but it was a large roll with enough filling and served with a decent portion of chips and mixed salad. The only thing I would say is that they use cheap sachets so no Heinz ketchup on site. Really not the end of the world but I am a sauce snob so thats just preference but I Always think decent sauce should be served with food as it makes the difference and doesnt add to the cheapness of meal but enhances it instead. In summary a decent meal for the price and would go again for food or drinks as all happy with food and felt welcomed by the staff even with two under one year olds and a dog they catered for us all and it was a lovely afternoon"

"**Introduction** Tucked away in the heart of Stourbridge, Balti Dilshad is a hidden treasure that invites food lovers on an exciting exploration of India's rich flavors. With a dedication to authenticity and a passion for crafting mouth-watering dishes, this restaurant has rightfully earned its status as a must-visit destination for anyone in search of an unforgettable Indian dining experience. **Ambiance (4/5)** As soon as I walked into Dilshad, I was warmly welcomed by its inviting atmosphere. The seating arrangements cater to a variety of preferences, offering cozy nooks for intimate dinners or larger tables for lively group gatherings. **Service (4.5/5)** The service at Dilshad is truly remarkable. From the moment I arrived, the staff was attentive, friendly, and eager to help. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu, providing thoughtful recommendations and enthusiastically answering our questions. The pacing of the meal was perfect, with dishes arriving promptly while allowing us plenty of time to enjoy each one. Our water glasses were always filled, and the staff regularly checked in to ensure our dining experience was exceptional. **Menu Variety (5/5)** One of the highlights of Dilshad is its extensive and thoughtfully curated menu. It features a wide array of dishes representing the diverse culinary landscape of India, from North to South and East to West. No matter whether you're a vegetarian or a meat enthusiast, there is something to please every palate. **Starters (4.5/5)** To begin our culinary journey, we chose the mixed kebab platter, which included samosas, chicken tikka, lamb tikka, and sheekh kebab. Each item was expertly prepared, delivering flavors that delighted the taste buds. The samosas were perfectly crispy, while the tikka was light and tender. The sheekh kebab had a wonderful smoky aroma and was incredibly juicy. **Main Courses (5/5)** For the main course, we decided to explore dishes from various Indian regions. The butter chicken, a classic from North India, was creamy and velvety. The spices were harmoniously balanced, and the chicken was melt-in-your-mouth tender. Served with fragrant naan, it was a comfort food dream. We also tried the Rogan Josh from Kashmir, which was simply divine. The slow-cooked lamb was loaded with flavor, enveloped in a rich, aromatic gravy. Paired with fluffy basmati rice, it made for a hearty and satisfying meal. Vegetarians will find plenty of options as well; the paneer tikka masala featured a creamy tomato-based sauce, and the paneer was impeccably marinated and soft, making it an excellent meatless choice. **Conclusion** In summary, Dilshad is a culinary treasure that transports diners on a flavorful journey across India. With its charming atmosphere, outstanding service, and a menu that showcases the diverse regional cuisines of the country, it is a destination that deserves recognition. While the restaurant has garnered high praise for its food, ambiance, and service, there’s always room for enhancement. Perhaps a more innovative take on dessert offerings or occasional specials that spotlight lesser-known regional dishes could take the dining experience to the next level. However, these are minor considerations in the broader context. For anyone in search of an authentic and delightful Indian dining experience, Dilshad is an excellent choice. From the moment you enter, you are whisked away to the vibrant and diverse world of Indian cuisine, leaving you with a longing to return for more. **Food: 5** **Service: 5** **Atmosphere: 5**"

"If I could this would be a 4 1/2. It has to be one of the best eating out we've had. We had previously visited the location with family for a drink and we were encouraged to come back for a meal on a Sunday. The first thing that struck us on our first visit was the friendliness and welcoming staff. There's not much choice of draft ales, three lagers and a cider though they do have bottled ales, ciders. Hot drinks are also available. The choice on the menu was very unusual a touch of traditional pub grub but with a slight twist (chicken Balti pie delicious . Italian pasta, burgers, curry, a touch of Chinese. I had the chicken balti pie it had a hidden heat and a rich taste to it and had plenty of chicken in with a red and green chilli protruding from the puff pastry (only eat the red chilli if you dare. I like things hot but... It came with triple cooked chips and thin slices of nan bread. A majority of the menu comes with a choice of triple cooked chips, baked potato or potato. My daughter had the meat lasagne (there's a veg option . My wife had a spicy chicken/onions/salad thick nan wrap with triple cooked chips. The child's menu offers nuggets, sausage or fish fingers with chips. The deserts were the only disappointment the cheesecake portions were small for £4.50 whereas my daughter's crumble was a meal in itself they come with cream, custard or ice cream. On Sundays, they also offer a roast though non of the party partook they looked to be decent portions The service was excellent. Definitely will be returning, highly recommended. Would suggest booking if you have a large party and especially on a Sunday it's usually busy."

"The staff done the best they could I guess and they were polite and curteous but we arrived at 6 pm for a family birthday dinner. QWe had all pre-ordered our food. Our food was not served until after 7pm and only because we had to ask to be served. My partner and I did not have starters but others in our party did. When our food arrived my sirloin steak was okay but very badly presented. My partner had ordered the rib of beef but this was absolutely shockingly bad. It was burnt, the vegetables were sloppy leaks and cabbage and there was no potato other than what appeared to be four pieces, smaller than and as this as a two pence piece. It was not even tasty. The starter plates were not taken away before serving the main meals either and were left piled on the table. The mains all came at different times and some of us had almost finished our food by the time others were served. The manager did apologise for this and gave a round of dinks as an apology. However, I cannot recommend this establishment to anyone else as it really was not a pleasant dining experience. the food we had was certainly not worth the money paid. My partner and I have eaten at other Ember Inn establishments and have always enjoyed what we have ordered at those. Unfortunately The Old White Horse at Stourbridge was a let down and we will not be returning. Price per person: £20–30 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2"

"Unfortunately we had a terrible experience at the Foxhunt between Christmas and New Year. We'd booked ahead of time to celebrate my father in law's 75th birthday. There were ten adults and three children and it was a rare family get together. Before Christmas we were pleased to receive an email advising that kids eat for £1 between the 27th and 31st December. My wife rang the restaurant to check that it would be on for our visit and they confirmed that it would. On the day we asked the waiter again that it was kids eat for £1 and he advised that he wasn't sure. My wife then went up to ask the manager and both my wife and I heard her confirm that the deal was on, she went as far as to tell us what was included and what wasn't. For example puddings weren't included. We proceeded to order our 3 year old and 9 month old a main meal on the basis that they were £1. We didn't look at any other menu and only ordered the baby some pasta based on the promotion. The Manager was the server and the person that took the order for the whole party. As a table we ordered a mix of normal menu and festive menu items. No issues were raised by the manager. At the end of the meal a waiter brought the bill to the table and specifically advised that whilst the kids meal was showing as full price it would be £1 when we went to pay. After attempting to calculate the family's contributions my brother in law went up to ask them to put the kids meals in correctly to make it easier. It was then that the waiter advised that the kids eat for £1 not available as members of the party ordered off of the festive menu. When I went up to speak to him he advised that he would get the manager. The Manager then rudely reconfirmed that the promotion was not available if anyone had ordered a festive meal. When I advised that we were told the promotion was on and no-one had mentioned the festive menu the manager attempted to throw her staff under the bus by advising that if we had spoken to her she would have told us. When I advised that it was her that had told us she deflected to advise that the email backs them up. I highlighted that we were specifically told at the beginning of the meal that it was on and that we had ordered on reliance on her confirmation. For some strange reason the manager thought that by highlighting accommodations on seating and service that she had done us a favour already. When it was clear that she wasn't going to do anything we paid the bill and left. The incident put a damper on a family celebration and none of us can fathom why they lied and why the manager did nothing to resolve the situation. Our bill came to £267 pounds and the manager was argumentative over £15. Futhermore we emailed the Harvester over the experience and have had absolutely no reply. As visitors of the Foxhunt for years we will not be going back."
