"Just dined at this local Italian restaurant. This was a very lovely place, my regret is I forgot to take a picture of my starter and my desert, the 2 best dishes!! The starter I had was the calamari served with tartar sauce. These were the biggest rings of calamari I've ever had. They looked beautiful and they tasted incredible! My mains, as you can see, was the pan fried breaded chicken with spaghetti pomodoro (a plum tomato sauce). The food tasted good, the pasta was cooked well, the sauce was fresh and sweet. I selected both these dishes from their set menu however I was too late to get the set menu price of £10.95. Instead we paid £8 for the calamari and £13 for my main. The food was definitely good enough to visit again for the set menu deal which has many items to choose between. I also forgot to take pictures of my desert which was profiteroles in warm chocolate sauce. I kinda attacked them as soon as they hit the table!! They were awesome, not the best profiteroles I've had but great nonetheless. Also it was only £5 for 3 so a little on the expensive side. The choux pastry was soft, the cream was delicious and the warm choc sauce was lovely! By the way the best profiteroles I've had was at Le Relais de Venise in the City, a kinda favourite place of mine, very simple menu with absolutely amazing deserts! All in all, Olivelli was a great Italian place with impeccable service. A friend of mine joined us unexpectedly and the staff were so accommodating moving us to a bigger table. They recommended dishes and condiments, one of which was a roasted and chopped garlic in olive oil which tasted great through the spaghetti as I do love garlic, and were generally very friendly. Definitely worth trying especially for the set menu which operates between noon and 5pm, well on a Saturday at least."

"I have visited this place so many times for drinks and sometimes for food, never had a cause for real complaint, BUT THAT HAS CHANGED, as the place, food wise has gone seriously downhill. It was a family do, so no one wanted to complain really at the time but if it had been just me or two of us I think I would have walked out. We were there for Sunday lunch, one of the worst ever, rock hard broccoli, not al dente more like break your teeth. Roast potatoes also very hard on the outside, not crispy, just tough, with a texture of cardboard and tasteless gravy. All you get for Sunday lunch is a smallish amount of meat, uncooked broccoli, hard potatoes, picked red cabbage which seems totally out of place here and tasteless watery gravy, no apple sauce OR STUFFING with the pork, no horseradish with beef, all lacked the usual trimmings for Sunday roasts, uninspiring, unappetizing and POOR VALUE.. The fish and chips was only slightly better, small portion of fish and not real chips, just the thin ones. Even Wetherspoons would be better, ACTUALLY THEIR FISH AND CHIPS are far, far better and MUCH cheaper too. Ironically I had starved myself to make room for a big roast, no need for that sadly. Has the management changed or the chef left as I have had great pub meals here just a few months ago. If the manager reads this review, I say pull your socks up as you've gone downhill and have great competition nearby from at least 4 other pubs, 3 of which definitely serve really great food, as I have eaten in them all recently. TO SUM UP, NICE PLACE FOR A DRINK, BUT AVOID EATING HERE UNLESS IT RETURNS TO HOW IT WAS. GROSSLY OVER PRICED FOR THE QUALITY AND QUALITY. PS I TOLD the waiter the broccoli was inedible and to please bring us some more but cooked properly, after we had finished eating, broccoli still on the plates, he apologized as they had been far too busy to do anything about it, disgraceful service and attitude. !!!"

"I decided to try it out when it was quiet. I had a late lunch, around 2:30pm, and I was the only diner. The tables were well prepared and staff were observing social distancing and Covid safe working practices. I started with the usual olives, bread, butter and fish paste, then Canja (chicken soup) as a starter and followed by Bacalhao a Braga, a dish of cod in a light batter covered in onions and red peppers with thinly sliced potato rounds roasted in the oven. The dish was delicious, cod cooked just right and the fish was so big it would have easily satisfied two people therefore I didn't finish it! I had a small Mousse de Maracuja (passion fruit mousse) to finish. They do wine by the jug here as well as by the bottle and the house white is pretty OK and it works out less expensive than buying wine by the glass. I can't say much about the service they were very pleasant and attentive, but I as I was the only diner present at the time, I wasn't able to see how they cope when they're full. Pricewise, OK; I've noticed since reopening after Covid lockdown, most of London's Portuguese restaurants have pushed their prices up, mainly on drinks but also on food. This one's no exception. The food, wine plus a bottle of mineral water, a small coffee and a Bagaso and an extra glass of wine came to almost £50. Pre Covid, this would have been more like £45. Still, it won't break the bank. I'd suggest that diners order one main between two; at least that way you'll have a chance of finishing it! The menu is slightly more varied than some Portuguese restaurants and someday soon, I'll go back for diner and try other tasty dishes, next with with a very empty stomach! Can't fault their generosity. Benefit of the doubt 4/5."

"We were looking for restaurant to have a nice but simple meal before a show. Didn't want maccys or traditional burgers joint and this place looked great. We were seated and served very quickly. That however is where it went a bit sideways. I ordered the steak burger and chips with onion rings and fries. So not something off piste! Mu partner had a hot dog with onions and we added sides of extra chips for my partner, and a portion of haloumi fries to share. Now these came out as a starter no problem. Abd they were delicious, But my partners main came out at the same time. So thinking, ok mine should only be a few minutes. We both finished off the sides and she finished her food. This then left a good 10mins until my food arrived. So she had to wait while i attempted to eat mine. Now having had a few steak burgers before I expected it to basically melt in my mouth. It was worse than shoe leather. I couldn't actually bite the steak through the bun and the whole thing just disintegrated in my hands. Even trying to cut the steak was a fruitlesstask. It was basically impossible to actually chew unless it was cut it into about 20cm sections. I was really disappointed with the actual burgers as the meal looked so appetising. We didn't have time to resend it and want for another, as the show was starting soon after. The chips and onion rings that came with it were lovely but the burger was very poorly executed. So disappointed as it wasn't bad value either. So if you visit just stay clear of the steak burger."
