North Norfolk is famed for its stunning coastline, charming villages, and seafood, particularly Cromer crabs, often enjoyed in local eateries or on the scenic beaches.

"Overall a lovely Birthday meal in a beautiful pub. Service was slower than expected and it was very hot sitting under the glass roof outside area. But saying that the food was lovely, great choice for the children and great to have an outside play area. The dessert table was so good. Loved the whole layout, decor and ambience of the pub. Bar staff were good. Finished off our meal with a drink in the games room. Will definitely be back and would love to stay one day!"

"We were excited for a Family Birthday Celebration return visit. Guinea foul portion very mean for £34, but tasted fine. Were not offered a drink until halfway through our meal. Crab gave our Mum food poisoning, which sadly made a very rough night for her. She rang the staff to let them know but no one cared, sadly spoiling the occassion. Parking inadequate. Worst of all though was that we were not told at the time of booking that the table had a second sitting and we were hurried away. We were glad to leave which is a shame as limited places to eat locally and we are unlikely to hurry back here. Suggest Farmyard in Norwich for a better experience."

"Absolutely delicious meal. The baked coconut and chilli Cromer crab starter was soooo good! Definitely recommend that one! Main meals were excellent and the vegetable sides accompanying were really really lovely too! We ate here for our tenth-anniversary meal with our two small children while camping locally for the weekend. There is no children's menu, but they can do fish goujons with chips, or various other options adapted from the adults' menu. The quality of the kids meals was great, although my two are going through a fussy stage so didn't eat much unfortunately. There was no good reason for this though, because my husband and I tried their meals and it was very good. We'd definitely return next time we're in the area!"

"a great little place! very modern and clean. reasonable prices and high quality food. I was so happy to find somewhere that finally a strawberry leaf made alone (i.e. not earthly and banane) as I was looking for this at so many places with much luck. when I saw this on the menu today, I was very satisfied and it was not disappointed, it was delicious! when I came back next, I hope to try the summer fruits!"

"Interesting and enjoyable food, the beer was well kept and the staff were keen without being pushy. Food drinks: Varied menu and beer selection, good to see a place that doesn't follow the herd. Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Quiet, Great value"

"This restaurant is absolutely fantastic. Throughout our holiday, the staff were consistently polite and friendly. The food was delicious, with the best ribs I've ever had, as well as amazing burgers and fish and chips. I highly recommend this place, as it is family and dog-friendly. This is definitely one of the best bars/restaurants I've been to."

"I was pleased to hear that the Mermaids Slipper was to re open as a fish and chip take away with a difference after the focus lockdown. What a difference we ordered takeaway with friends, two of us had the haddock one the cod and I had the skate. All the fish was amazing great batter the chips were perfect all portions came with a slice of lemon, tartare sauce and pickled courgette. We also ordered a pot of the gravy which I highly recommend you get some perfect for dipping chips into.In conclusion it is well worth getting the takeaway you will not be disappointed, I will first on the phone to place my order on Wednesday when they are next open.To all the staff at the Mermaids Slipper keep up the good work amazing food as always, look forward to when you can reopen the resturant"

"Booking was no trouble and parking was easy and well signed. Entrance fee was as expected. On arrival at the cafe we had to queue next to a sign that said the cafe was closed for a private party. It wasn't but it was facing the queue so appeared to be relevant although out of date. When we were seated it became obvious that we would have to queue again to order food, in the billowing and potent stench of the meaty barbecue for a good 15 minutes. As vegetarians this was not ideal but my mother, who is not vegetarian also found it almost unbearable too. When we reached the front of the queue the order was taken and then there was an odd arrangement where we had to wait to the side of the queue for drinks and then take a buzzer for the food. This strategy resulted in a long wait to order and an unfortunate safety issue for staff coming in and out of the kitchen who had to navigate the edge of a granite table, a queue of people and carry piles of plates. There was potential for something serious to go wrong at some stage but not our concern of course. There followed a lengthy wait for food. From being seated to the buzzer going off was an hour and we were not told of a delay on food on ordering. When the meals arrived, they were average with the flatbread being reheated from an earlier point in the day, very chewy and hard. We ordered 2 meals the same which arrived with quite different ingredients. The children's activity packs included with entry were brilliant to be honest and it was these that saved the day after such a long wait for food. The 2 tables next to us needed clearing and were not tended to until near the end of our meal. It was busy but not full to capacity at the time. I would recommend visiting hoveton hall, but it would be tricky to recommend the cafe unless the ordering and preparation system was reviewed. Will visit next year to see if anything has changed."

"We just called in for a drink, you order at the counter and bring them to the table yourself, my Brother and his partner both had Latte's, i had a Mocha, when my brothers partner got to the table she told me which was mine, or which should have been mine, but they all looked the same, and all tasted the same, which was a shame as i was looking forward to the Mocha, plus the Latte's didn't taste like Latte's either. it was only looking at other reviews on here that i found out the staff are volunteers, they could do with a bit of training for the differant coffee's on offer. apart from that, the place is nice and clean, and the staff seem very friendly"

"The stay was lovely, thank you. BUT I was close to cancelling as I received 15 computer generated emails about my stay plus a phone call, wanting me to say what time I wanted breakfast in four days’ time . I was also told about not parking the car for more than a brief time to unload and then to move it. Despite paying for D , B and B in advance I had to formally book dinner and breakfast again online and also say what we wanted to eat for bf in advance too. What should have been a wonderful off grid relaxing stay turned into an exercise of military precision and became very stressful. To cap it all I received my last email suggesting how to avoid queues at the check in desk FFS. If the WB had over 1000 rooms , yes maybe but six? PLEASE bin all the ridiculous IT stuff if you want guests to return. All so unnecessary and such a shame. Rooms: Very comfortable. A wonderful mattress on the bed. Gorgeous views. So peaceful. Food drinks: Tasty"

"Absolutely amazing Sunday Lunch. We were in the area for the weekend and searched on here for somewhere for a home made Sunday lunch. We weren't disappointed. What a lovely place. Friendly welcome, fabulous decor and an outstanding meal. Possibly the best Sunday lunch I've had for a number of years. We will be back."

"We popped in for a coffee one afternoon and it's clear why people pre book. The selection was huge, with people having larger lunches, snacks and (for us) cake and cuppa. The place was immaculate, the service perfect, so good we returned earlier the next day without the sleepy teens for a cooked breakfast! Combined with a wander around the garden centre and farm shop, picked up some nice foodie souvenirs and garden ornaments to remember our holiday. Lovely place for a rainy day too. Cake selection was amazing!"

"We had pulled pork loaded homemade chips, which is very tasty and so was the homemade side salad coleslaw which came with on the side. The pulled pork for us was more of a chopped pork in a tasty sauce than string like pulled pork but still very nice. We visited for Sunday carvery lunch and the shop was very busy with queues out the front door. Food was excellent. Value for money very good. The only small negative is the shops inner decor and tables. It needs a freshen up and perhaps a woman 's touch? with table cloths (even paper ones would suffice or update/improve the table tops with a light coloured sticky back plastic, which would freshen the look) and artificial flowers in a bottle on each table? for lunch and perhaps a candle added at evening dinner times to make the environment more appealing to the eye. It unfortunately looks more like a workmans breakfast cafe inside, which lets down the excellent food and service from the very rushed off his feet waiter. Booking a table for Sunday Carvery Lunch is very wise, as it gets super busy, especially on theme weekends in Sheringham."

"Bang in Wells Next the Sea is a dog-friendly bistro offering a splendid selection of seafood. The menu blends traditional English dishes with several European and Asian alternatives, such as paella and curry, and includes a daily catch of fish. The beverage options were excellent, especially the wine and the guest ale. The service was friendly, and the food was promptly prepared and served. However, we felt somewhat neglected as the restaurant was preparing for a busy Thursday evening during our visit from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm. Consequently, the dessert options were limited to ice cream, as the kitchen was gearing up for the evening rush. The staff missed opportunities to offer hot drinks at the end of the meal. The burger was quite enjoyable, albeit slightly overcooked and dry. This tendency to prepare beef well done by default seems common in the area. The fish and chips were also tasty, but don't expect the portion size of a typical fish and chip shop. The side salads were flavorful and fresh. Our 8-year-old son thoroughly enjoyed his seafood platter, with his only comment being that it was a bit salty. Nonetheless, this didn't prevent him from finishing the entire plate. In conclusion, we had a pleasant meal, but it didn't leave us thoroughly impressed, and we departed with a slight sense of disappointment."

"Have been wanting to go here for a while and finally got the time to book and go. Wow it did not disappoint. The staff and venue were very welcoming. It felt warm and homely in the bar and a great set up for dogs... especially with their doggie dinners! Didn't have a dog but if I had one this would be my go to place! We sat in the restaurant area where the carvery set up is and it was beautifully decorated. A little cramped with all the tables but it worked. The food options were plentiful and for someone who's fussy I had plenty of options. The food tasted amazing also and already we can't wait to go back. The only downside is my partner said it got really loud and couldn't hear me well as the evening went on and it got busier. It felt like the room echoed. There was a kid next to us using the radiator as a road for its toy car and a birthday party on the table on the other side of us with kids, so pretty loud. And the other thing is the car park is a bit tight but nothing they can do about that of course. All in all looking forward to going back asap!"

"A proper pub. We stopped by for a mid-afternoon pint whilst trying to walk off some of our excessive lunch at The Suffield. A smattering of locals were propping up the bar on a Monday, the fire was blazing, it was comfortable and there was a good range of ale on handpull. All very satisfying."

"We had a lovely meal here. Spiced belly pork with a tabbouleh salad and ham egg and chips. Both meals delicious. The crispy hens egg was gorgeous a soft boiled egg with a coating Waiter friendly and obliging. The food is quality over quantity but enough to satisfy, such delicious flavours and value for the type of food served. The meals are cooked to order so don 't expect 'fast food '. The desserts were sundaes of combinations we 'd not come across before and were lovely. Would love to go there again on our next visit to Cromer."

"This is Norfolk 's outstanding gem...!!! Quite literally stumbled upon whilst taking a wrong turn, my friend and I decided to have a meal there. Warmly greeted and shown to our table we looked through the wonderful menu. It was an excellent selection full of temptations. I chose steak whilst my friend went with a burger. Both arrived and looked gorgeous, the steak was perfectly cooked and the delicious chips had delightfully fluffy centres. My friends burger beat her, it was a huge portion and even I couldn 't finish off all her fries to help. Midweek we paid another visit in the evening and this time I tried their rather excellent beef lasagne, but this time I allowed myself to indulge in dessert. The homemade chocolate brownie was dreamy, I could easily have had seconds... Lastly I returned on the last night of my holiday and sampled a starter for a change, the utterly divine garlic mushrooms, its sauce not too overpowering so the subtle taste of the mushrooms came through. I followed this with their Gourmet Burger.. what I feast this is..!! Succulent beef patty with ample salad filling and bacon, served with side salad with dressing and fries. Absolutely tremendous!!! I finished with the profiteroles for afters which were the icing on the cake... Each meal was washed down with a bitter shandy (I 'm driving) made from the delightfully named Nanny Goat beer. The staff are exemplary and are happy to accommodate changes to the menu items, but more importantly unlike chain pubs your are not just a table number here, you are a customer and one they will happily dpend time chatting to and getting to know. This alone is worth the five stars even if it wasn 't gor the scrumptious food too. Do yourself a favour, go find this pub, stick on your sat nav or simply get lost down a lane in Skeyton like I did, but do find it.. this place is what pubs should all be like. Charming, rural and giving good custom.."
