"I took my daughter for Sunday lunch on the recommendation of a friend at Crickhowell bowls club. When we arrived there was no knowledge of our reservation and we were given a small table which was in need of a clean. The girls serving did not appear very experienced and we were not made to feel very welcome. The food was good, if £1 more for the set course than advertised. We had a lager shandy each, one main course and a floater coffee. We asked for a Tia Maria coffee, but this was not available so we opted for the waitresses suggestion of a drink similar to a Baileys. I should have checked the bill because when I got home I looked at it and I had been charged £57.40. The bill included two Baileys at £4.75 each which we had not had. I did try for a number of days to speak to someone, but the phone only rang for so long and then cut off. I have announced in the bowls club that I would NOT recommend this place."

"Placed an order in store for takeaway and when we got home, we realised half of the order was wrong. The food was cold, hard and really greasy. We called the kitchen to complain and was told we had to bring of the food...back which at this time was already put in the bin. Apparently this was their policy however this is not stated online or in the store. After mentioning to the manager that we had already put the food in the bin, he said “if you want a refund, you will have to bring it here because I need to see the food.” Throughout this conversation with the manager, he was extremely rude and abrupt and did not in any way sound as if he wanted to resolve the situation. I’m not sure if we chose to eat from here on the wrong day but for sure we definitely will be staying away from here in future!"

"Called in at 17:20 on Tues. 30 April for Cod, chips twice and curry sauce. Came in a nice box, so we took them to eat by the canal. What a disappointment! The fish was dry and the batter was hard and overcooked and seemed like it was leftover from lunchtime. We paid £23 for something uneatable. Never go there again, having used them as far back as 1996"

"We stopped here to break up a long journey. Straight away it seemed very unwelcoming. My son is autistic, and because he seemed more comfortable in the corner section we asked to move tables. We were advised that was the dog friendly section, and obviously we would move if needed, it was quiet at the time, but this seem like an inconvenience to move tables. Then when my son was wandering in the pub, this seemed to annoy a couple of guests, and I know he seemed hyperactive but these are some of his autistic traits, this seemed to annoy one couple in particular, where the man was making very rude comments I know you have no control over who comes into your pub) but overall it just felt very unwelcoming in there. Are kids not allowed in here? It didn't seem like it. We come past this pub often, so we will not be stopping here again."

"Passing through to visit elan Valley we stooped and grabbed pizza and kebabs from here and took it with us. Service was fast friendly and food was still hot when we got to our destination. "This hotel is a little gem!!! lovely big rooms (that are about to be renovated , a fantastic spot right in town but what absolutely makes this hotel is Barry and his staff! what a fabulous welcome as soon as we walked through the front door! A huge smile and nothing is too much trouble for them! so accommodating and just so lovely! We decided to eat there that evening too and the food was delicious! We'll definitely be back (need to spend more time with the lovely Barry!"

"We stopped in for a snack and a drink and were very impressed with the staff, who were great and very helpful. We ordered two mugs of tea and two egg and sausage sandwiches. The sausage had an old English, slightly herby and spicy flavor that was absolutely delicious. We will definitely be returning to this great cafe and highly recommend not missing out on it. The service, food, and atmosphere all scored a perfect 5 in our books. The price per person was very reasonable at £1-10 for a brunch meal. We recommend trying the sausage when you visit."

"It was a meal for my 60th Birthday as it is My birthday on Christmas Day, so my Children and my Grandchildren were all excited as was I as it was a surprise. We were met by the Manager who was very rude and abrupt and told us our table was from 12 to 2 and he needed our table to be empty by 2pm. He said 'Your starters will be served at 12 so be ready at the table for them! ' We sat and were ready....Soup arrived and it was cold, next the main Turkey meal , cold and in my 60 yrs I have never had a load of fat on my Turkey(which was cold), it was like Pork fat.....under cooked Yorkshire Puddings and don 't get me started on the veg .....the only thing that was warm was the **** gravy... it was supposed to be a beautiful meal for my big birthday as I have cooked every Christmas Day for all of my family so my 60th Birthday treat for me and my family was a total disaster. So would I recommend to eat here....NOT A **** CHANCE AND THANK YOU FOR THE WORST AND MOST EXPENSIVE CHRISTMAS MEAL I HAVE HAD.....DIGUSTING"

"from irland with two friends visited on the motorcycle back in the august, we saw this beautiful caffe in the best named city. one of us is vegan so that nutritional requirements are important. we were blown away from the quality of food, but even more by the friendliness of all people working there. the boss came out and gave us a free dessert to take us on our trip. it was a nice gesture, and lasted only 4 months to leave an assessment about it! that will be our first station when we get from the ferry. only a wonderful inviting place with crisp feeding."

"We made a last-minute reservation for a table of 10, including 6 children, for Sunday lunch and the restaurant was very accommodating. The food was delicious, especially the tender beef and pork, and there were plenty of vegetable sides. The service was quick and friendly. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. It's also a great value for the quality of food and service provided."

"I visited Rhayader with my elderly mother to see my brother and have a meal. Unfortunately, when we arrived at 2.45pm, one cafe was closed, the other only had cakes, and one pub was shut. We walked past that pub, which had a sign saying they only served until 2.45pm, and went to the pub next door. Two men outside suggested we go back to The Castle, and they were right. The woman behind the bar was very friendly and spoke to the chef, who kindly offered to cook us a meal. We were extremely grateful for their hospitality. The Castle is a wonderful place and we are happy we came, if only for the warm welcome."

"This is two reviews really. I went with my mother on a Saturday and thoroughly enjoyed my roast dinner. My wife has gone with her mother, sister and niece for the mothers day Sunday lunch and wouldn't go back. So the difference between the two days. On the Saturday, they served a white meat to start with which must be the most popular. Obviously have a choice but I do think you should always serve a white meat so my niece went without meat. Also, on the Saturday the food came already on the plate. So there was no sharing bowls. The big difference with the Sunday was there was 4 people and they brought one large bowl with all the veg on it and on top of the peas and carrots was cauliflower cheese. Not everyone likes this but obviously because it was on top of the peas and carrots then it ruined other veg. When you have 4 people trying to share from one large bowl it was a mess. These should have been separate bowls that people could pass around. There was a handful of peas for four people and when we asked if we could have more then they answer is yes but you pay extra. I would go back, but would ask numerous questions before I have a roast dinner again, I suppose I was just lucky that I went on Saturday and it was a better setup for the Saturday."

"We were on the Heart of Wales Line Trail and needed a late lunch. The Tower House Gallery was an excellent choice. The Grub in a Mug option was splendid. We both had a tasty mug of leek and potato soup along with a Brie and redcurrant toastie. All cooked by John, yummy. The owners even closed the door as we were more cold than worried about you know what!"

"Ate again at the Bengal Spices early Saturday evening. Quite busy as large party in and as always, plenty of takeaways. Great atmosphere crisp white linen tableclothes and napkins low lighting and everywhere very clean. Party of four adults. We all had starters.. had the salmon tandoori, husband had shami kebab with omellete on top and i had the chicken chatt all tasted fabulous served with small side salad. Mains we had a few curries and big sis and I had the Sizzling chicken shasklik tasted awesome and comes sizzling ans smoking on a platter with onions and peppers tastes amazing. We share a tandoori rooti bread fabulous. Wine decent prices under a bottle. We finished our meal with cheesecake. Service always with a smile as Robby and his team always look after us granted there is soemtimes a wait but we dont mind and the food here is always worth waiting for. Well worth a try if in the area."

"Highly recommend this gem of a pub for Sunday lunch. Our Family of four arrived at the The Farmers Arms after a long journey back from North Wales. The meals were absolutely amazing! Both Adult and Children’s sized portions area available. Beef, Pork or Lamb or a nut roast were on the menu. Prices were clearly shown for one, two or three courses. We decided on beef and pork the meals were fantastic, served piping hot, the meat melted in your mouth, potatoes were tasty as was the gravy (extra gravy was served in a boat) vegetables broccoli, peas, carrots and cauliflower cheese were brought in serving dishes to help yourself all piping hot and cooked to perfection. The staff serving were very friendly and the toilets clean cannot recommend a stop to eat at this pub enough would give more stars if available!"

"Stopped for lunch in Talgarth whilst travelling along road to Brecon very pretty village btw! Really charming cafe, with walls lined with books and retro decoration. Fabulous lunch we both had the baked potato with chilli, which sounds basic but was much nicer than you normally get. Good potato and the chilli had some heat, which you don't normally get in pub/cafe chilli. Good salad and coleslaw came with it. We enjoyed it so much that we came for lunch again on our way back from Pembroke. This time we had sandwiches, both excellent, and seriously recommend the roast lamb with mint sauce sandwich served hot, great meat, very tasty indeed. Lovely staff, good value, big portions. Will head straight here when in area again."

"after a long day around wales we drove here in the evening with friends to dinner managed to fit us into the eating was good, but one thing spoiled it... the woman had blown her slices a bit and was lucky to not lose a tooth or worse. there was in there a piece of cinnamon stick / wood what if a child had tried to swallow this, this is and on it, this? I've never seen any curry that my wife has eaten. so they pamper it for them immediately and since they had nothing else there would be no alternative ... so they only eat their bread eating the food for the rest of the group was good, just how I dangerous articles that spoil it"

"We have stayed at the Red Lion Country Inn twice now this month and we just stayed for two nights at the weekend to help be close to a job nearby and Odette David are a fantastic lovely couple and can't do enough for you! : The food from Chef David on both days was great and we even got breakfast baguettes to go each morning, which set us up ready for the full days work ahead! We highly recommend staying here and our guys want to stay again if we have another job nearby :"
