"Stopped for lunch in Talgarth whilst travelling along road to Brecon very pretty village btw! Really charming cafe, with walls lined with books and retro decoration. Fabulous lunch we both had the baked potato with chilli, which sounds basic but was much nicer than you normally get. Good potato and the chilli had some heat, which you don't normally get in pub/cafe chilli. Good salad and coleslaw came with it. We enjoyed it so much that we came for lunch again on our way back from Pembroke. This time we had sandwiches, both excellent, and seriously recommend the roast lamb with mint sauce sandwich served hot, great meat, very tasty indeed. Lovely staff, good value, big portions. Will head straight here when in area again."

My friends and I frequently visit this restaurant. The breakfast is delicious and the staff are always very friendly. I would definitely recommend this place if you find yourself in Talgarth.

Found this place by accident (Sat nav error) on the way to Pembroke. A little gem of a cafe. Good food a large menu and the place is lined with books. Whats not to like. Stopped on was back as well.

We did not know what to expect when we arrived. We were with a group and there were nearly 30 in total. You can bring your own beer or wine and no corkage charge. We had steak pie and mash and loved it

To be honest, we only came here because the The Bakers’ Table was closed and we stumbled across it by chance. What a find! We sat outside in the sun with generous and delicious cream teas. Highly recommended. View menu

The interior of the restaurant is wonderful and takes you back to the 1950s. The lady serving us was very friendly. The food and coffee were tasty. It was my first time trying a Welsh cake and it was delicious.

Shockingly bad customer service. We were told up to an hour and half wait for home delivery, two and a half hours later still nothing. Two phone calls, there was no apology, nothing. Thought we’d give them a try after a leaflet through the door never again. Don’t waste your time! View menu

Took grandchildren for an after school treat. It was a hot day and with the sun coming through the glass, the books had a very musty smell. Put me off my food, which is very good at the Strand. I think that they should all be cleared out and the restaurant repainted and with a new look, the cafe could do amazingly well. I think most of their business is either takeaway or catering for local businesses.

Left at home alone felt like a roast was in order but was not in the mood to cook let alone drive. A quick call to The Strand 1 roast beef dinner and a pudding. Plenty of meat and i was quite happy with it.... roast potatoes mash runnerbeans carrots peas cauliflower a very little pot of gravy and a yorkshire pud what more could i want for £7 maybe a bigger gravy next time but i know this for future reference my pudding was nice and tasty £3.25 all delivered by a smiley happy lady in under 30mins armed with her card machine....a job well done will use again thanx
