"Having passed the sign outside saying pop up restaurant, shop, etc we decided to go and have a look. This being a Saturday Not knowing what to expect we were really impressed by the buildings and presentation. Upon entering the door we were approached by a waiter who it turned was the owner. We explained that we had popped in to see what was on offer. Well it was like trying to extract blood from a stone, we really should have known. Eventually he did offer up information and as the venue was extremely attractive we decided to have a coffee and a hot chocolate, both fine. Whilst having our drinks we enquired of a female waitress if the restaurant did a Sunday roast. She confirmed they did. A little reticent we duly booked for 3 pm the next day a table for 3 persons. On the Sunday we arrived and were shown to a table set for 3 by the owner and we apologised that only 2 could make it. The extra place seating was begrudgingly removed. The change from 3 to 2 had not caused any rearrangement of table placement etc. As we were taking our seats the owner stated we have run out of Beef, no apology, nothing. My wife and I sat down and studied the menu. Having studied the menu to see that on offer was pizza, a salad, hake with rice and pasta. I beckoned to the owner and asked was there any replacement for the Sunday roast as there was no similar type dishes on the menu. The owners reply was gobsmacking. No there was no replacement/substitute, no apology and if we didn 't like we were free to walk. Not wishing to outstay our 'welcome ' we duly 'walked '. So we have a restaurant at 3pm on a Sunday running out of roast, the reason we booked, offering no apology , no appropriate replacement displaying a truely unbelievable attitude from the owner. As we left there were numerous other parties arriving, I hope they didn 't require a roast on a Sunday. I can live with stock shortages, but there are ways of dealing with a situation. What I cannot live with is an arrogant attitude from owners to their guests. This I cannot overlook. You might say a bad day at the office, but we experienced the same attitude 2 days running, there will not be a third. As it happens we are local and may have considered this location for our daughters wedding, absolutely not now. If the owner is interested we did get a Sunday roast at a nice pub/restaurant just up the road and yes they were busy."

"we were here yesterday to meet a family we had not seen in 20 years. before the hand 8 of us decided to meet a bit earlier and have an evening meal, which we wish we did not disturb. the service was good to start, but then. it went down from there. my own and my partner shared the ham croquets, first they were cut in the half? not sure why, but we think it could have been to check that they were cooked properly, as they tasted, as if they had come out of the freezer. one had the chicken taquitos, that was just a chicken sluice and was not baked. for the first I had the cattle burger, but with red thorny jam and truffle and parmesan fries. burger was simple, no tomato or salate and the jam was just brewed, almost dried red wobble. Burger-Bunge was out of the freezer when it was crooked. the truffle and parmesan fries tasted nothing like truffle, and the “Parmesan” was not parmesan. I mentioned this at the end and the beautiful waitress went and asked and came with “the cook just said that they were very lightly seasoned”. my partner had the pepperoni pizza that was good. two more guests with us had the chili con carne, who was really a puppy game from chili and rice in a bowl with a little sliced chili above. both were sent back when they were cold. again it looked like it came out of a deep cooler and heated again. well to say we didn't go for the desert! the pub is really nice, and the garden is even better. they have a pergola outside with warm lights, which is beautiful especially in summer evenings. would be definitiw again for a drink in the garden."

"We have been coming to this pub every summer for over 10 years and we all feel it’s really really lost it’s way. Every year we come here as its really near to the holiday cottage we rent . We won’t be coming back. The prices are now exorbitant £7 a pint lager! £10.50 small glass of wine. The staff used to be jolly, chatty and nice but now just look like they don’t want to be there . We could hear the black haired bar manageress swearing in a very vulgar way in the kitchens on a number of occasions in the evening. Just so unpleasant. Not what you want when you are taking your 90 year old parents out. . Made us all feel very uncomfortable when our server came out looking welled up. My dad wanted to leave when he heard this. Being British we kept quiet but it’s bothered me so much since our holiday. I had to write something in the hope that somebody who owns the place might do something about it. Overall now .. over priced, staff who are clearly deeply unhappy and don’t want to be there. Not a very nice atmosphere, particularly when you have paid over £280 for essentially a pub meal I had to stop my 90 year old dad having a rant at her when she came to take payment . Well done lescar You ruined our evening Our last night of our holiday we went to the Norman knight which was a country mile away and a country mile better. £5.05 a pint and £175 for all of us Very disappointed to be writing such a negative review but problems clearly come from the management and to treat young staff this way is unacceptable. Ruined our evening"
