"we were here yesterday to meet a family we had not seen in 20 years. before the hand 8 of us decided to meet a bit earlier and have an evening meal, which we wish we did not disturb. the service was good to start, but then. it went down from there. my own and my partner shared the ham croquets, first they were cut in the half? not sure why, but we think it could have been to check that they were cooked properly, as they tasted, as if they had come out of the freezer. one had the chicken taquitos, that was just a chicken sluice and was not baked. for the first I had the cattle burger, but with red thorny jam and truffle and parmesan fries. burger was simple, no tomato or salate and the jam was just brewed, almost dried red wobble. Burger-Bunge was out of the freezer when it was crooked. the truffle and parmesan fries tasted nothing like truffle, and the “Parmesan” was not parmesan. I mentioned this at the end and the beautiful waitress went and asked and came with “the cook just said that they were very lightly seasoned”. my partner had the pepperoni pizza that was good. two more guests with us had the chili con carne, who was really a puppy game from chili and rice in a bowl with a little sliced chili above. both were sent back when they were cold. again it looked like it came out of a deep cooler and heated again. well to say we didn't go for the desert! the pub is really nice, and the garden is even better. they have a pergola outside with warm lights, which is beautiful especially in summer evenings. would be definitiw again for a drink in the garden."

Had an evening meal here which was lovely. Staff are brilliant. Quick service, reasonably priced. Great decor and atmosphere. Easy to get to with plenty of parking.

Food good but a little bit expensive . £23 for a steak and £1.50 EXTRA for a pepper corn sauce . Burger and chips £16 . Would look for a different venue when next in the area

Stopped here on our way home from Shropshire. It was Saturday afternoon and the pub was quite quiet. I had a steak wrap which was just the right quantity for a lunch. Would stop again if we were passing at the right sort of time.

Great little pub just off the Fosse way. Had Sunday lunch meeting up with good friends and the whole thing was lovely. Food excellent, vibrant atmosphere and unhurried sociable meal. Lots to like and we will be back! Only downside was a lack of parking...at peak lunch time.

Went with friends on a Saturday evening, which turned out to be a very busy evening. Overall the evening was very good. It was a bit unfortunate that the staff seemed a little pressed because of the numbers of customers and service did suffer. It...was unfortunate that the starters did not get us off to a good start. The main was fine and the desert was very good- most enjoyable. Appreciating the fact that it was busy we felt that in normal circumstances we would have been looking at a more than average review.

I don't write reviews often, but felt that I had to do with such an excellent experience today to visit my father on Sundays. the roasts were perfectly cooked, not too much gravy, yorkshires crispy, but not dry, the meat oozing with taste! portion size good...to what is a special obsession of me. my father was not able to manage all his, but we found later that we had ordered a smaller part and they would have been happy to commit. remember for the next time! personal friendly and exactly the correct amount of attention. a nice pub, and other people also think so clearly by judging how it was.

we visited with friends and this is a great place to come when they visited almost compton verney. the staff were all young, but friendly and professional. we had the Mexican taquitos, thunfish tars and croquettes as our appetizers then 3 x chicken Sunday...Roasts and I had the shakshuka as my head. this came with a simple baguette I thought was a little strange, so I ordered a part of the pommes as a supplement. the whole food was nice and well presented the portions are big but we could not manage this dessert. there is a good choice of wein and a selection of non-alcoholic gins and also beer that was beautiful. the pub has a beautiful garden for warmer days we will visit definately again
