"Comparable in terms of quality to the well known steak restaurants in London. Staff were friendly and helpful. I can't fault the food at all. in our group of 4, we had starters, main and shared a dessert. Starters were very tasty, Mains were of great quality and also very tasty. The only negative thing I would say is the dessert portions are really small. In our group we ordered a sticky toffee pudding and a brownie. Each dessert was for two to share When then they came we were disappointed as it was a small portion even if just for 1 person to have alone). The wines were really nice too. I would recommend this restaurant- and will definitely go back."

"The staff here are really nice and welcoming, the portions are generous and the menu offers a variety of options. But there were some things that made the experience a little disappointing. The food took quite a long time to arrive and when it did, it came in a random order (our side dishes arrived well before our mains). The menus were also sticky and our table was lacking cutlery and napkins. Despite this, the place has a nice vibe, is beautifully decorated and the staff helped immediately with our requests."

"We ate here a few times up until Christmas 2014 and loved everything and fully agreed with other reviewers here. Since then we had a take-away and ate in the restaurant twice as a family group. On the last two visits we noticed a few changes (for the worse . They used to serve wonderful chunky chips but now serve very ordinary chips that you find everywhere. They changed the beefburger buns from an unusual (and tasty corn meal bun to a sweet sesame bun just like in a run of the mill burger joint. Recent steak experience also not so good and came with untrimmed fat which spoiled the experience. Meals come served on wooden platters but a couple of times we could taste the wood from the food (time to replace the platters? . We are sorry to give a negative review because it is such a different and pleasant family run place but food standards seem to have slipped? Has anyone else noticed this or were we just unlucky? On our most recent visit we were a bit put out by noisy neighbours and we wondered if this has something to do with the fact that wine is now served?"

"The Gardeners pub is a hidden gem that is independently owned by the lovely couple, Patrick and Tracey. Unlike other pubs in the area that are owned by larger companies and lack character, The Gardeners stands out for its freshly prepared menu that rivals local restaurants in taste and variety. As a regular customer, I am thrilled to see this local pub gaining recognition for its delicious food, excellent service, and inviting atmosphere. It's the perfect spot to catch up with friends and enjoy a drink after a long dog walk. I highly recommend trying the truffled gnocchi for a light snack, or indulging in the schnitzel or pie for dinner – everything is simply delicious."

"Our latest curry adventure took us back to Kerala at Onam, located at Tooting High Street. The exterior of the restaurant features black and red signage with red and gold curtains, giving it a bold appearance. Inside, the cozy atmosphere resulted in a solid Venue Score of 7.1/10. As we entered the restaurant, we were pleased to see other curry enthusiasts already seated. The starters we ordered, including Vegetable Samosas, Poori Chana, Plain Dosa, Special Prawn Poori, and Ulli Vada, were all excellent. The main courses we tried, such as Lamb Rogan, Nadan Kozhi, Nadan Erachi, Nadan Chicken Biryani, Appam and Stew, Chef's Special Aubergine, and Chicken Madras, were also delicious. The sides of garlic and coconut parathas and coconut and pilau rice were a tropical addition. Our overall dining experience was excellent, with a Food Score of 8.1/10. The bill came out to £116 for our group, equating to £16.57 per person. Although there is a 50% off food offer with a Tastecard, we gave Onam a Value Score of 7.0/10. Overall, Onam has earned a place among the top curry spots in Tooting, with an Overall Score of 7.7/10."

"We booked a last minute group booking for 16 of us and were treated to our own area of the venue. After a 3 hour session at Go Ape it was a treat to arrive at The Grove (only a 5 minute walk away) and be greeted with warm smiles from all of the staff. The roast dinners were a bargain at £10 for the biggest plate of food I've ever seen and were absolutely delicious! There is no dessert menu but order a lemon meringue vodka shot and you won't be disappointed! The Grove doesn't look much from the outside but inside it is full of quirky paintings, posters and merchandise from comics, films, tv and more my particular favourite was the Tardis!I would highly recommend The Grove as a great place to meet friends and chill out for a Sunday afternoon. The staff made it a highly enjoyable afternoon/evening and we felt so welcomed into their bar. We'll definitely be back for one of your famous open mic nights!"

"We staid just across the street from this family owned small restaurant and we were so lucky to find it. From the street it might not attract your attention, but once you go in you realize it is just the perfect place to have a completely English experience. For the 3 days we staid in London, we started our days there. The menu is quite diverse and the coffee is really good. The service is very good and you can notice how much the locals appreciate this place in their way of behavior. They always entered the place smiling and greeting the owner. The prices are just ok, but the food is very good."

"I bought some food and the colleague explained me they can’t take the loyalty card to add the points due to COVID-19 situation. And she explained me bring my bill when I visit next time and they will able to scan the QR code for me. The lady served to me her name is Christina. I went to the restaurant today with my bill to add up the points as she explained. When I asked she said she can’t do it. Then I asked what’s the point you asked me to come and add the points then 2 colleagues were rude to me and said you can order now and add the points. And also I said the colleague who served me(Christina) she is here. And one of her fellow colleague lied to me as she’s not here(Christina) I can understand we all are going in difficult time. But my question is why they misguided customers ? What’s the point is keeping loyalty card ? Wasting my time. I don’t want to go to this restaurant anymore."

"I met with my friend yesterday and we ate brunch in tartine, a caffe in tooting broadway. the weather on Saturday morning was annoying, a combination of rain and really strong wind, so when I reached the caffe, I really needed something to warm up. I'm really indecision when it comes to deciding what to eat, I mean, there are always so many possibilities, out. at the end we both went with the vegetarian burger (I ordered it with cheese,) chips and the sauce we referred as samurai sauce (the name of the sose sounded honest as samurai! I think it was a spicy mayonnaise. everything was made fresh and the Burger-Backs were really soft...read more"

"Excellent local cafe run by two lovely ladies who give a warm welcome and very good service. This place has expanded over the years and is a great choice any time of day when you are on the Northcote Road. Scambled eggs and toast are done really well, their croissants are good quality and I love their toasted ciabatta sandwiches for lunch. Good value for quality food."

"This is my favourite cafe in the Balham/Tooting Bec area, and there are about 10. I think it used to be a dairy and has a lot of character due to its exposed brick walls and rails. You can sit here for hours typing and drinking coffee, plus there is a little back garden. It is a pleasure to sit here and drink and eat, although. I only eat here occasionally (breakfast usually) which usually tastes good. They are a bit slow to serve sometimes but it is a busy place. They were very good when I ordered a whole cake recently, supplying a very good chocolate cake for £25. Long may the cafe continue."
