"As a group of 4, we arrived without a reservation on Saturday at around 12.30pm. When we went up to place our order at 12.40pm we were advised there was a 40 minute wait on meals. We decided (unfortunately) to order and wait. A group of 4 with a reservation, arrived at the table next to us about 15 minutes later. The hostess came to their table and took their order. Their cooked meals arrived about 20 minutes after they had ordered. Our single ham ploughmans plate and 2 jacket potatoes arrived at 1.45pm! On leaving, my curious husband enquired why the table next to us got their meals without the “40 minutes” wait and was told it was because they had pre-ordered. When hubby challenged this and advised that was not the case, he was told “they requested their meal be delivered at a set time”! Seriously. Not the way to attract or encourage walk ins. Here was I, thinking a reservation meant you got a table at a set time. At this place it means no matter what time you order, you get your meal before those who’ve arrived and ordered before you. As a side, it was the worst ploughman’s platter I’ve ever had at an English pub. After being told it would be big enough to share, “with a bowl of chips”, it was not. It was one slice of ham (very nice) 2 dry pieces of bread, 2 small pickled onions, some stale and crushed corn chips, 2 pieces of ice burg lettuce, grated carrot and 2 pieces of tomato and a soft, browning apple with a side of chutney/pickle. Definitely not worth the £12.50 we paid. If we hadn’t already waited 45 minutes, I’d have complained and sent it back. WILL NEVER GO BACK!"

"The staff at this restaurant were all gorgeous, very pleasant, polite, helpful, and attentive. Our room was also beautiful, very spacious, clean, and had everything we needed. The location was good, right near Southwold, with free parking and easy to find. However, we were disappointed by our food. There was some confusion about where we could sit and when we could eat. We were told we couldn't sit in a certain area because it was full, but were eventually seated in the restaurant. There was conflicting information about when we could order, with one coworker saying we could order at any time and another saying we had to wait until there were cancellations. The food itself was not great- the baked chicken was overly saturated with garlic butter and the burger tasted like a frozen patty. The chips were also very dry. We didn't complain about the food as there wasn't much that could be done about the quality of the ingredients. We tipped the staff because they were attentive, but we decided not to have dessert or breakfast included in our room price. Overall, the restaurant is beautiful and the staff is great, but they need to improve the quality of their food and ensure it is cooked to a better standard."

"we've been waiting for our food for almost two hours. then got a call 6 minutes before the delivery time saying that it wasn't a chicken, that meant feeding 5 children. Cause it was because they didn't get it out of the freeze cabinet when we asked them to clear up their problem, they offered us a pizza. when we asked that they prepare enough pizzas for the nutrition of the children, they said that they cost more than the 18 huh we ordered. really! that was her fault, not ours! I understand that kitchens are getting into a mud they have clear. then they told us that our order was canceled. they should treat this to another wise way that would have left their loyal customers happy, but they have treated themselves so badly and so unprofessional wisely! what happened to the customer service? we have been loyal customers for years! really bad effort, cancellation are order, because they are not able to cope with the situation is really not the customer's fault. poor shows!"

"After an awful experience when St peter's restaurant was under the previous management we were very hesitant to return but so glad we did. The restaurant now under Trios exceeded our expectations. Booking was easy, staff were extremely friendly, nothing was too much trouble, food and drink was amazing. So lovely to be treated to Sunday lunch with lots of lovely flavours, colour and textures. We were warned that there was a large group in before us and expected a bit of a wait for food but service was very slow so not somewhere to visit if you're in a hurry. We had a private dining room upstairs as we were also a large group and it was perfect for passing a peaceful afternoon with family, leisurely playing card games in between courses, opening birthday presents and enough space for the children to stretch their legs. The children's menu is just smaller portions from the main menu and my children didn't really appreciate the variety of veg and flavours on offer for Sunday lunch but staff were so accommodating of their fussiness. Very lucky to have this stunning venue on our doorstep and it was a wonderfully cool place to be on a scorching hot day. We will definitely be returning soon."

"Twice in one week ! I met for a friend for lunch at the Trowel and hammer. They had just launched a new menu. We opted for the pub classics which included dessert if you have room) I had steak burger with coleslaw and fries. Added smoked bacon as an extra. It was topped with a large gherkin slice and has to be the best burger I have eaten in a long time. Dessert arrived. Baileys cheesecake topped with white chocolate shavings. Beautifully light and very tasty. £15 for the 2 courses. We were meeting family at the weekend for drinks and food. I insisted on the trowel and hammer to try the evening menu after such a fab lunch. The staff made us very welcome and seated us in the conservatory. My husband went for the burger after I raved about it. The evening menu differed and the burger came with brisket, bacon and cheese. A side of coleslaw and fries. The chicken supreme with mash and beautiful fresh veg was amazing, the chicken was so light and tender. The other dish on the table was fish pie. I tried the dish and with the smoked haddock, I'll be ordering that on our next visit."

"East Point Pier Lowestoft To get to East Point Pier, the walk along the seafront prom is wonderful, in our opinion, THE BEST PART OF LOWESTOFT! I walk with the aid of a walker so it’s imperative that pavements are level and undamaged, and the whole stretch of Lowestoft promenade is brilliant. We walked down to East Point Pier from our hotel at the top of the hill which took us a good while, but it was a fab walk in the sunshine with a number of benches to rest looking out to sea. There are a few bars to stop off for a drink and a few kiosks to enjoy an ice lolly or a donut (or two . East Point Pier is a large undercover area, which was easy to get around with my walker. Too many attractions nowadays are so crammed with lots of tables and chairs making it difficult for me and those with wheelchairs/buggys to get around, but there’s plenty of space inside here. They have music playing inside and there are a number of kiosks for different foods and a bar too which was much TOO expensive for us to have a drink! Unfortunately for us the place just didn’t have a relaxed atmosphere, it felt very much like a school canteen inside PTSD!!!!! So we didn’t stay!! I needed to use the disabled toilet which you’re only supposed to access with a radar key, but it was open for all to use and there was NO toilet paper in either side of the double dispenser!!!!!! Others have said how nice the non disabled toilets are, so I guess the disabled ones aren’t really at the top of their list to keep clean and topped up with toilet paper! The whole Pier/Pavillion area absolutely stank of sewage on both days we were there with a septic tank truck making an almighty racket for what seemed like forever! The acrid stench filled the air, perhaps this should be done at night when it’s not so busy during the holidays. Unfortunately Lowestoft Town Centre let’s the whole area down! It is disgusting! It’s really run down, most of the shops are shut and the council have allowed the seagulls to completely take over, roosting above most of the shops, so there’s masses AND I MEAN MASSES of poop EVERYWHERE. Why hadn’t anything been done about it for the start of the 6 weeks holidays?! Shop Doorways literally look like they’ve had huge cans of white paint poured all over the place and IT ABSOLUTELY STINKS TO HIGH HEAVEN!!! You would think perhaps the food/take away shops would clean up outside their doorways to entice people in if the council aren’t going to bother, but NO, It truly is DISGUSTING!!! As I mentioned at the top of this review, Lowestoft’s Saving Grace is it’s Promenade and Beach. It’s worth going to visit just for that!"

"I called today. my partner ordered a cheese and a baconburger. it arrived and the babin stick out of the bungalow raw. I touched the speck and it was persistently cold. I said to my partner that you eat this. I went to the counter and said that this speck is cold. I was told that a new burger was introduced. the burger came and again the speck was cold. I went back to the counter. is that a sweat I said. the speck is absolutely stolperkalt. a manager came by. he said the speck was not cooked on the ground! absolutely no excuse for cold speck. it looked lively. he also said that the speck is presented at room temperature. the speck was totally cold, I said. he offered a replacement. we chose a Bacin cheeseburger who was hot. for their health their bacon is so that it is worth exaggerating it."

"Sit by a window overlooking the sea, in a proper restaurant, where food is cooked to order, to your liking, at a table covered in a real tablecloth. Food is excellent, and there is no problem if you want just a starter and desert, or a starter and then another starter instead of a main, or even just a starter. I have multiple food allergies and they dealt with them happily and very competently, even coming back from the kitchen to check with me if there was any doubt about ingredients. Two menus, and no problem if you want to mix and match, and if you want a large meal then the main courses are large. We stay in Lowestoft a couple of times a year for a few days each time, and always eat here. Very highly recommended. Only snag is they are sometimes very busy, especially if the function room is in use, so it often pays to book. (They will then advise you of a good time to eat if they know they are going to be busy."

"Found this place when we were desperate for an activity for children. This place we’re holding an Easter event. We now make a point of coming here. A couple of times for each visit. Given the breakfast is cooked on a tiny cooker with the old school grill above! and given the prices… I am always shocked at how good the food is and how quickly it comes out even when there is a cue out the door. It’s a hearty breakfast without everything dripping is oil like at a greasy spoon style cafe. There are a bunch of toys old but the choice is huge and as soon as we arrive I pretty much don’t see my daughter for an hour or two as she hunts through the treasure trove of toys and games, slides and scooters. Always a warm smile when it’s busy and a friendly chat when it’s quiet. No frills, bells or whistles. Quality, good price and entertainment for all. Much better in my opinion."
