"4 of us went fishing at Halesworth lakes and stayed at The Lord Nelson, Holton. Our expectations were low we're fishermen, we were there for the fish, not the food or the decor! However.........we had a great experience: The welcome was friendly; The rooms were clean, nicely decorated/furnished;The food was excellent; It was good value; We felt the prices were reasonable for the high quality offered. All in all it was a lovely surprise. We will be going again."

Stopped in on a Sunday while out for a walk. Very welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff. Food was extremely tasty. Would definitely recommend the Lowestoft Smokie. Service was also excellent. If you are in the area you should grab a bite to eat here.

Unfortunately, this bar restaurant that was recommended to us by our hosts is now closed. We were surprised to find out that it had shut down without any prior notice, not even to locals. It seems that they now only offer bed and breakfast accommodations.

Used the Lord Nelson as a base for a wedding. The owners are very friendly and helpfully, extremely welcoming. The room was wonderful. Spotlessly clean and comfortable with a great newly fitted bathroom. In a quiet location. Would definitely stay here again if back in the area.

I stayed at this bed and breakfast for one night for £80. The room was lovely and had everything I could wish for, but the only drawback was the lack of shower power. The breakfast was good. It's a shame that the local community no longer has a pub within walking distance. For a small village, it is a necessity.

Very friendly welcome. Decor of a good standard. Starters included baked mini Camembert with bread; pate and toast. Mains roast beef, roast pork... I went for the vegetable curry which was absolutely delicious. Although portion sizes were good, some had room for dessert. Treacle tart is highly recommended. Good value for money. Would visit again.

I have visited this restaurant twice recently. The first time, the pub was closed. However, today there was a notice indicating that it was no longer operating as a pub, but as a bed and breakfast. It's a real shame as I was looking forward to trying their ales as part of the 'Woodfordes brewery ale trail'. Oh well, another pub has closed its doors.

My wife and I ate at the Nelson this evening. Nice clean pub and restaurant, looks recently redecorated. Quite quiet as you might expect mid-week away from the busy coastal towns but the food was very tasty indeed. I had the Duck and my wife the Pan Fried Chicken and we both commented on the good flavours. Second course was equally as good. Good service and reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend.
